Welcome to In The Cards, a multi author collection of standalone thriller and horror short stories. In this series, you’ll find stories inspired by the meaning of a specific Tarot Card, thoughtfully written with that thread woven through. Whether you’re a Tarot Card lover or not, you’ll find thrillers and horrors that will creep under your skin and into your thoughts. *Knowledge of Tarot Cards is not necessary to read or enjoy these stories.*
It’s just a silly little ritual they saw online. Tie a thread. Make a wish. Burn the rest. Don’t take it off. It’s the kind of thing you do and forget—until it works. After a drunken night, Milan, Drew and Lilah wake up to find their lives impossibly altered. The things they wanted most begin to fall into place with eerie precision. But something else is happening, too. Consequences no one can explain—or ignore. When the original video disappears and similar stories start surfacing, the friends are forced to confront a possibility they can’t shake. Their wishes aren’t just coming true, they’re taking something as a replacement. And the ritual may not be finished yet.
Make sure you come back and check out the other stories, because you never know what’s In The Cards.
“Black Thread” by Sara Lea is another gripping In the Cards short story that proves every choice comes with a price. It’s centered on greed, consequences, and the hand you're dealt, this intense, fast-paced read kept me hooked from beginning to end. Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it, and regret every second of it. It’s dark, suspenseful, and thought-provoking, this one is definitely worth the read.
Black Thread drew me in with its eerie atmosphere and strong occult horror vibes, creating a sense of mystery around the choices the characters made and the forces they were dealing with. I enjoyed how much tension and atmosphere Sara Lea packed into this quick read. The short chapters kept the story moving, and the idea behind the book reminded me of the saying “be careful what you wish for” as the characters faced the unexpected results of their actions. While I liked the creepy elements and the overall concept, the ending felt a little different from the rest of the story for me. It was an interesting choice, but it didn’t quite have the same feeling as everything that came before it. If you like occult horror, supernatural consequences, and eerie short stories, then you will enjoy this book.
This is one of my favorites in the series! It's a story of choices and consequences. Just how far are you willing to go to get what you want? This was beautifully written. It's so easy to say one thing and mean another. You could feel it all, the fear, the guilt, the pain, the desperation. An easy five star!
What if you could have what you wished for but it came at the expense of someone else? Would you still do it? Would you rather protect the ones you love, or be selfish and get what you want.
That’s where this story will bring you. It’s a good way of putting things into perspective.
Black thread is the second short story I've read by Sara Lea that I definitely recommend reading. Tiktok witchcraft amongst three friends . Dreams come true, but at what cost ? Fast-paced thrilling page turner . I enjoyed the storyline, but I wish there would have been more pages and more within the story, so it didn't seem so rushed .
Black Thread by Sara Lea is absolutely terrifying, in the best possible way. This story was so deeply unnerving and spooky that I had to keep the lights on. If you want a book that will completely get under your skin, pick this up immediately!
