He’s a 10… but he’s also 13 years younger than you
He’s a 10… but he’s also 13 years younger than you. And somehow that just makes him a stronger 10.
Cairo and Yaya meet on a singles retreat, and the spark is instant. She’s 40, he’s 27, and she’s doing all the mental gymnastics a grown woman does thinking about her daughter, the judgment, the double standards. Meanwhile Cairo is over there steady, intentional, and completely unbothered like, “Yes, I’m younger. No, I don’t care.”
This book gives you sunshine, flirty energy, and a romance that actually talks about what it means to step into a reverse age‑gap relationship as a woman. And the moments? Oh, the moments. The ATV scene, the masseuse situation, the yacht moment all delivered with confidence and just the right amount of boldness. The spice was spicing, but the story still had heart.
Perfect for tossing in your beach bag and finishing in one sitting. And the cover? Gorgeous.
💕 Tropes & Vibes - Reverse age gap - Forced proximity - Vacation romance - Grown‑woman heroine - Memorable retreat moments
🌞 Final vibe Fun, flirty, thoughtful, and perfect for summer. A younger hero who shows up with intention, a heroine who deserves joy, and a story that delivers it.
This cover is so gorgeous, and I love an older woman-younger man age gap, so I was super excited when I came across this book randomly. I enjoyed Anaya and Ciaro's story; they had such amazing chemistry, but Ciaro had the patience of a saint because Yaya was so frustrating. I did love his dedication to their romance and how he knew what he wanted and never wavered. He was a man, honey, and seeing him get his girl was really fulfilling.
Honestly with the way the book started I was so excited and really into and then by the half way mark I was overly irritated with Yaya. For this to be about a grown relationship my girl was acting overly childish. I mean there’s no way she had no communication skills and everything was about age. I just felt like this book had soooo much potential but by the end it was being dragged out real bad.
It started off promising but then quickly went downhill from there. This book had potential but the writing was too repetitive and our MCs just weren't it for me. I didn't feel any real chemistry between them besides the instant lust. Anything beyond that felt very forced and awkward.
It’s really a 4.8 rating but as we know don’t have that on GR.
I really enjoyed this book, the world around the characters were so clearly illustrated and the difference in personalities between each character mentioned was well done. I think a lot of the dialogue that was happening amongst characters wrens very realistic and I was laughing out loud while following along.
We follow Yaya our 40 year old FMC who’s immediately attracted to our 27 year old MMC Cairo but she doesn’t want to entertain it. Little does she know, Cairo is a cocky, determined little bastard who’s going to use all his young blood energy to get this woman 😂
The way their love story progresses realistically and the integration of real life factors and concerns were so nice to read and experience. The spicy scenes were also spicy, Cairo talked a lot of shit, during and before their scenes and he backed up all that mess he was talking 😋 spicy level like 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
My only gripe with the book was that I found alot of books sentiments, feelings and descriptions repeated too many times. I understood that the FMC was conflicted but I re read the same thing too many times, same for some descriptions, if I a picture was painted in one POV, I didn’t need to see it again in the other POV. BUTTTTT the story was still AMAZING, and I’m happy I read! This will be a good read if you enjoy :
- Confident men becoming weak for a woman - age gap romance with an older FMC - dirty talking 🤪 - an island/Caribbean aesthetic since they were away on vacation - a strong willed FMC
Nothing But a Number by A. Sherelle was the perfect read to round out my week. Nothing too heavy, just a genuinely enjoyable romance that pulled me in from the start. I’m such a sucker for later-in-life love stories, especially ones centred around healing after divorce, rediscovering yourself, and finding love where you least expect it — and this reverse age gap romance delivered all of that beautifully.
Cairo and Yaya were absolute fire together. Their chemistry felt effortless, but what I loved most was how real Yaya’s hesitations felt. They were in completely different stages of life, and those fears and uncertainties felt authentic rather than manufactured for drama.
And Cairo? That man was intentional. The way he loved Yaya, reassured her, and treated her like an absolute queen had me swooning constantly. His actions spoke louder than words, and he proved time and time again that he would do anything for her. The gestures? Top-tier book boyfriend material.
If you’re looking for a romance that’s heartfelt, mature, swoony, and packed with chemistry, this is definitely one to add to your TBR.
Cairo and Yaya didn’t know what hit them when they say each other for the first time! Both on a singles retreat just looking for “good time”- No strings attached or feelings!
However the feelings got stronger and fear set in, for Yaya, at least… Cairo knew what he wanted and wasn’t going to let anything stop him!
I appreciated how emotionally mature and in tuned Cairo was! He didn’t let Yaya’s fear keep him from what he wanted, a life with her! In the beginning of the story I felt he was arrogant and superficial… but after he encountered Yaya, I realized that was a persona he had to guard his heart.
Yaya had valid concerns regarding her relationship with Cairo, I felt she was very relatable, at least to me as a woman in her 40s. Her being cautious and fearful was real. the indecisiveness, was real. And I’m so happy she allowed herself to block all of that out and give love a chance!!
Both characters were very likable to me and I loved reading their story!
This was cute. Not gone lie sometimes I felt like the same thing kept being mentioned. Why did we have to know that Cairo’s nose ring was shining every time? We know he has a nose ring. Half a point loss for unprotected sex! Especially after you doing all this crying and running because you don’t want to start over having kids but you continued to have unprotected sex. Other than that I enjoyed reading this.
The following are all the thoughts I had while reading this book so it may contains some spoilers:
She tasted sweet and musky????? Uhhhhh I don’t think I’ve ever heard it described that way. At least not in a good way but ok lol.
Half a point loss for unsafe sex! And then knowing you don’t want any more kids
This was so damn good. I love a sweet romance. Cairo and Yaya were made for each other. They fell hard but with the age gap my girl got scared and rightfully so. I also liked that the author explored real issues in age gap relationships. Especially when the woman is older. Most books just act like once they are in love that's all that matters. Yaya had real concerns about what Cairo may want and need as a 27 year old man. This book made me laugh, cry, swoon and smile. In the end they figured out how to make it work and got their HEA. Definitely buying the physical copy. This is my first book from the author. It won't be my last. 😊
Sigh. I don’t know. I genuinely loved the beginning of this book and was with it until Cairo and Yaya started getting intimate. Their chemistry was definitely there, but it felt more like lust than romance. I wanted a more emotional connection that would justify falling in love in 2 days lololol. Things got better once Cairo decided to moved to LA and made it clear he wanted her. His gestures were sooo freakin’ cute. 🥹
I liked their relationship more toward the end, but Yaya wore me down with the constant age gap complaints. 🥲 Aspen and Yaya’s best friend Noemi were hilarious and definitely added to the story for me. 3.5/5 ⭐️

Naomi was my ride or die, Aspen was my sweetheart. Yaya was my drama queen, lol. Cairo is the kind of guy you’d love forever. Each day I spent reading them i couldn’t close the book. Yaya annoyed me in a good way. But I understood her. I’m so glad Cairo fought for her & never gave up. From the mixer … I was even hooked on Cairo. This book was a good & fun read. I’m glad the ending the way I hoped it would!
I almost stopped reading this book - I think it was the third chapter where the text messages between Aspen, Naomi & Yaya and Aspen was talking to her mom like they were friends. I also didn’t care for the repetition between the chapters. Yaya was annoying with constantly running and thinking about what “other people” had to say. I do appreciate Cairo though - he knew what/who he wanted and didn’t stop until he got it.
What a refreshing, HEA story!!! This was a palette cleanser for me and it gave me that and more! Cairo, what a man!! The persistence! He made YaYa see her value! The family dynamics in here were also so healthy! I ate this up in 2 days! I need more from the author now 🙂↕️
Yaya & Cairo’s chemistry was everything. They fell fast on the singles retreat but went home heartbroken. Yaya’s reasoning on why the age gap was an issue was understandable. Cairo didn’t let that stop him from going after his soulmate.
The epilogue was full of love & happiness 🥰
Noemi was so worried about Yaya dating & she should’ve been at the singles retreat with her 🫤
This was a sweet love story about fighting your fears. I really enjoyed this story.I question myself being in my forties could I date someone that Is twenty seven. To be honest, I don't know, I understand all the reservations, she had about being with someone that young. But i'm happy that she conquered her fears and seeing what that relationship would come out to.
It almost made the DNF list. I was a bit put off by the cockiness and overuse of "designer." We get it... Yaya is confident, and Cairo has money. I pushed through, and it ended on a high note.
Nice read concerning a big age gap of 13 years. But when you are compatible and in love you can make it work. A few editing issues and some repetition descriptions.
The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars was because I wanted to fight Yaya half the time. That’s a good man Savannah was all I keep screaming. This story was however an accurate display of a younger man older woman. I was here for the ride, journey and happy Cairo knew what he wanted and deserved! This one took us on a trip literally, well worth jt.
