My Husband’s Secret Texts to My Maid of Honor

She catches her husband’s phone lighting up with a message to her sister.
Sent from the shower while she made his coffee.
He says: “I still think about last night.”

For five years, Hayden was the perfect husband. He kissed her forehead every morning. He was the love of her life.

Her sister Tamara introduced them. Was her maid of honor. Called every Sunday to check on the marriage.

The texts go back a month. I’m tired of this. I don’t think I love her anymore. For weeks, Hayden’s been distant. Saying he’s just tired when Jules asks. Telling her sister everything he won’t tell his wife.

Jules confronts him about cheating. He brushes it off. Her sister won’t tell her the truth.

Her own sister. Her own husband. Pure betrayal. She knows what they sound like when they’re lying.

That night, Jules finds them on her porch. His hand on her sister’s face. His mouth almost on hers. When she asks if he loves her sister, he says yes. Out loud. To her face.

Jules doesn’t argue. She throws his clothes off the balcony, her wedding ring at his head, and files for divorce by morning.

Now Hayden has to grovel with cassette tapes, six-mile walks, and a new reason he loves her every morning.

Hayden chose Tamara. Jules is finally choosing herself.

no rating because it's pretty clearly AI. whatever person is behind the books has something against sisters or this is projection of some kind. anyways.. these are hilarious to read, if you can get past the one note characters, the emotionless chat gpt writing, the inconsistencies and disjointed timelines, the amount of times you will eyeroll, these stories are fun too read. I mean the titles aren't even creative, the story is in the title. some stories even have the prompts, haha.. anyways. chatgpt is so prevalent in KU at the moment, it's awful.

My Husband's Secret Texts to My Maid of Honor, part of the A Marriage in Crisis series, was about 29-year-old Juliette "Jules" (Munrow) Reid and her 33-year-old husband, Hayden Reid. (The author never gave their career titles.)

Jules and Hayden had been married for five years when she found the texts between him and her older sister, Tamara, the person who first introduced them and had been her maid of honor at their wedding. She decided to invite her sister to dinner, but it didn't go well. Then she caught them almost kissing on the porch, and Hayden told her he loved her sister, had never loved her, and should have married her sister instead. So she kicked him out, tossed his belongings over the balcony...and filed for divorce.

This story had an interesting twist to it that the author's other books didn't have, so that gave it a better rating than most. However, it still felt like a cookie-cutter replica of the other stories in every other way. So I gave it a three-star rating, just because of the one twist that made it different.

Another sister story, but…

Oh this was funny! Not supposed to be, but the banter between the FMC and her husband, the MMC, is hilarious.

So, at 33, he’s having a mid-life crisis. That made me laugh since he’s not even close to mid-life. Anyway he’s been distant from his wife and talking to her sister instead of her. They are best friends but still… he should be talking to his wife.

He’s almost TSTL and he’s just blowing up their relationship right and left. He keeps saying things that are actually lies, and she is fed up and wants to divorce him.

KU and this one was funny. It was also pretty darn spicy. Nice little read though, and I enjoyed it.

Hayden's choices were horrific, heartbreaking and just mean... The his character had a personality transplant mid way through the book and he became devoted. Which honestly is good because at the beginning I was like there is no way this is the hero😅

Tamara the h's sister is just a bad sister and has some weird ass loyalty to the hero. She should of been pissed at the mess he mad and how he dropped her in the middle of it but instead she was keeping his secrets and helping him.. make it make sense

what they did was child’s games

I’ve read a lot of romance, but the moment that man said “ I’m in love with your sister “, that’s it’s. That’s not a game. That is a declaration which destroys lives and relationships. Nope. Nope nope.

Funny and frustrating. MMC doesnot communicate with his wife but can text her sister....not snart. Wife is sassy and misunderstands a text she reads...which he sent to his sister and which was awdful. Sister did not help the situation. He was stressed, not communicating, she was trying then stopped when he stopped....rinse, cycle, repeat.

There are very funny dialogues among the story which is probably why they did not kill each other.

Notes for me

Hayden

Jules

Jules finds texts on his phone between him and her sister Tamara. Thanks for last night, she deserves to know, I’m not happy, not sure I still love her, etc.

She cooks a horrible dinner for them and confronts them. He’s more worried about Tamara and walks her out to the porch. Jules sees him hugging Tamara who is crying into his chest. He says he doesn’t feel the same about her. Jules puts his crap into trash bags and kicks him out.

She files for divorce and he fights everything. They prank each other. She goes to his apartment at 2 am to see Tamara walking out of his apartment with red swollen eyes from crying and her hair messed up.

Obviously she leaves and he runs after her. Gets hit by a car with bruises and broken ribs.

She finds out she’s pregnant but decides not to tell him.

He starts leaving her cassette tapes to play in her old car, takes her on dates.

Reasoning is he was insecure about their relationship. Passed over for a promotion and his dad made him feel like he wasn’t successful.

Tamara was his best friend and actually introduced them.

I’m not sure what the issue is, but I saw a few reviews mention that the hero was not redeemable because he told the heroine he loved her sister and he should’ve married her sister. Did the author edit it since then because this is what he said:

“I just… I don’t feel the same anymore. About us.”

In my version, he never mentions anything about loving the sister or wanting to marry her. Tbf, if he had said this instead of the quote I posted, it would make more sense to explain the heroine’s reactions afterwards.

So…the sister, Tamara/Tammy/Tam is BFF with the hero. She is actually the one who set them up.
When the book starts, the hero has been drowning in self pity, doubts, and the “I’m not good enough” complex for 3 weeks. He says he’s having a mid-life crisis at 35? 😂. NO, what he’s experiencing sounds like straight-up depression.

Anyway, he’s been emotionally dumping his trauma by texts to the sis aka his BFF. At one point, he texts her that he doesn’t love his wife anymore. He immediately regrets it and knows it’s not true. Sis keeps telling him he needs to talk to his wife.

The heroine sees the texts. She is devastated. She’s been asking him for 3 weeks what’s wrong. Now she thinks he’s having an affair with her sis. She makes a big dinner for them. Basically, over seasoned the food on purpose and poured salt into their drinks. (I did laugh even though it’s super immature)
Sis takes off out the door and the hero runs after her. Heroine sees the hero comforting sis. She hears stuff that sounds very affair coded. The heroine confronts them, they deny an affair, and the hero says “I just… I don’t feel the same anymore. About us.” when the heroine asked what’s been up with his attitude lately.

The heroine goes and throws all his shite in garbage sacks. She kicks him out.

A day later, the heroine finds out she’s pregnant.
Divorce papers are filed quickly. He is contesting everything. They are playing pranks on each other 🙇‍♀️ and one night she sees her sis coming out his apartment. The hero chases after her to explain, but he gets hit by a car.
The sister is like “yall two are driving me crazy and I’m getting off the crazy train. You deal with it yourself”

He explains to the heroine how he’s been drowning. Boo hoo hoo 🎻 He explains about the trauma dumping texts to sis
No affair, no emotional or physical cheating. He had no interest in sis that way at all.
The heroine does speak with her sis and the sister explains how she pretty much got dragged into their toxic dump relationship.

The MCs go on a date to the amusement park. Ummm do pregnant people do rides? They have smex. I guess you can say he’s groveling. 🤷‍♀️
He finds out about the pregnancy, they have smex, he moves back in. Months later, they do a vow renewal, kiss, and her water breaks.

I never once felt like the hero had any romantic feeling for sis. I just got the impression he was super depressed and was venting to his friend. He was definitely a big dumdum and said a few hurtful things. I felt like their 3-week separation was an overreaction. IF there is a version where he told his wife he should have married the sister, then I would definitely say he was irredeemable.

It’s the inconsistencies and errors and poor writing that makes this book a joke.
They are killing the book’s viability as an enjoyable read, as there are so many things mentioned that contradict something said earlier.
Save yourself and skip this one.

They live in a house. A house! The whole beginning was of catching her sister and Hayden on the front porch area. Hayden saying he gets half of the house. Then later Jules says she goes back to her apartment and Hayden picks her up from her building. Then it’s a house again.

Or the fact their first kiss happens in that motel (there was a whole sprained ankle having to walk miles to town, though why they didn’t have a car to drive back in is beyond me) story. And then Jules is rewriting it as their first kiss happened on a Ferris wheel. What!?

And rollercoasters when pregnant!? Seriously!!? She also wasn’t eating meals or taking her vitamins. It’s like she wanted to kill her baby.

Then the whole birth dialogue which I’m not sure what the authors were attempting with that nonsense, it was so annoying and immature. Not funny at all.

And a mid-life crisis at age 33. Seriously!? The whole drama starts from something so incredibly stupid and awful. The fact Hayden even texted that statement of not being sure he loved Jules anymore is the dumbest thing.

This book is a mess because of the errors and inconsistencies. So many. So many that I didn’t mention from car bench logistics, to the need to unzip a dress when having out in public sex, to green paint when it’s been yellow the whole time, or being at an amusement park waiting in line for hours to being there for only two hours. It’s all just such a bad horror show of a book. It’s a train wreck and should have been thrown back until the authors gave it proper attention and editing. Get the story straight then edit all the poorly written scenes. Then maybe, maybe it’d be good enough to publish.

There has to be some AI involved. Even the blurb itself has inconsistencies that make no sense. "She catches her husbands phone lighting up with a message to her sister (it wouldn't light up from a message to someone, just from), and the message was sent from the shower while she made coffee (if he had the phone to send the message, she wouldn't have seen anything). And in addition to that, the blurb outright lies about what happens (which I hate).

Don't misunderstand me. I love reading these books. They are a guilty pleasure, primarily because how bad they are. Like a previous review mentioned, these AI slop books are all over the place (especially this whole collection), and if you can get around the blatant issues in there, they are hilarious to read. It looks like this one went a step farther and had AI write the blurb, which is the only reason I can explain why it was just so wrong.
She never confronted them about cheating, and when she found them hugging on the porch, she never asked him if he loved her sister, she never threw his clothes off the balcony or her ring at his head. She did get started with the divorce process, though, with a lawyer and mediator.

The story, characters, and plot were all just so weak. He needs a therapist for his depression, for sure. I have been through this with my then-boyfriend. He broke up with me for a couple months, but we did end up back together. I think Hayden at least needs to be on some depression meds to help, so this doesn't flare up later.

There wasn't enough to this story for anything, really. I can't give this more than 3 stars (rounded up from 2.5) because there is just nothing there.

Summer reading under the umbrella.
Not bad.
Lately I’m always wondering if what I read is authentic or ia generated.
This one doesn’t seem completely ia generated.
Maybe just edited with ia?
I don’t know, but it was kind of good.
The misunderstanding is big. Huge. And well done.
The heroine has been married to the hero for three years, he’s been distant lately and she finds suspicious texts to her older sister, who was the one who introduced them years ago.
In these texts he tells her he doesn’t know if he loves the heroine anymore.
So she decides to confront them.
When she sees them hugging, and whispering to each other, she goes mad and the hero tells her he doesn’t think he feels the same about them.
The heroine files for divorce and find out she’s pregnant.
The hero opposes the divorce.
So, there’s a misunderstanding behind all this, kind of nothing momentous but anyway the hero tries to win the heroine back realizing his mistake.
Yes, he was an ass, definitely.
But the cheating was just perceived.
A lot of sex scenes.
All is good on the end.
Totally safe. I won’t spoil more.

Became messy

It started out ok and then the writing became messy. Dates and timelines not making sense. She lives in the house, then it's an apartment, but no it's the house. The reason for the split was .... dumb. Worth a roaring fight ...sure but divorcing within the first week? Uh overkill. Could have AI involvement. These kind of mistakes a real writer could have corrected quickly. I think the author liked the fair portion so much that she forgot the gal was pregnant. Doesn't mention it and when they get back and she's unwell...that was when a sane person would have said something before going to the hospital. Then it was...oh ya... there's a baby. I'm seriously thinking the author forgot and had to throw that in there. I was waiting for something the whole time they were at the fair. Sloppy writing. Skimmed over a lot. Not worth the time.

A decent read aside from the dumb title. Very mature couple who fux everything with sex. It's a HFN because this couple will definitely divorce someday.

At 76%, they have been at the amusement park for two hours but have ridden four rides, gone through the haunted house, done the maze, played multiple games, eaten junk food, and had sex twice. That's a LOT to pack into two hours.

I'm really upset they have been parking a '57 Chevy in a parking lot and on the street. WTF is wrong with these people?

Marriage in crisis with no infidelity!

This was a good read about a mid life crisis, work pressure, low self esteem, the desire to be perfect and misconstrued context.

It was heartbreaking to read how far apart the couple became when communication stopped. The husband opted to confide in Jules’ sister Tamara instead of his wife.

It was an awesome read where hubs pulled his head out and gave really good grovel to get his wife back.

Finished it in a couple of hours and enjoyed it!

Ok. Why doesn't anyone catch the mistakes?

Cute story about a man who stops sharing his emotions with his wife. They are snarky with each other, which was fun to read.
My frustration was with details. Do they live in an apartment or house? The author flip flopped between both. Does she work from home or at an office, again in varied.
Who goes to an amusement park and rides attractions that throw you around when they are pregnant or have bruised ribs? That seemed unrealistic.
The storyline was at least believable for this short book.

what was that

Not sure what I read, their love story was toxic they lived to fight.. and yeah her sister choose her husband that’s pretty messed up best friend or not she should have told her and some of the wording from the text messages and the almost kiss was seriously misleading and explained to easily not sure if I bought it. So left this story feeling like it was an almost affair but then totally switched gears. Husband and sister were way too close

Beautiful, wonderful read!!

Though I love my extra angsty books, I like that this one was much more simple and less morally bankrupt than the preview suggested!! The guy still massively fucked up and had to make up for it, but it was nice to see how the sister really had the best intentions but sadly merely went about it the wrong way!! I can’t wait for the next one! These books are addicting!!

Hayden and Jules

This was a well written and easy read. Jules was devastated by her sister’s and Hayden’s betrayal. Jules was a great character and Hayden’s nickname of “Menace” was well deserved. I’m not going to spoil the story but I will say the dynamics between Hayden and Jules were amazing!

Funny and Spicy!

Not as dramatic as the previous stories in the series but definitely the best written. They weren’t many inconsistencies that I noticed. Not stagnant or militant in the writing. Not perfect, but better than a lot of them in this Her Marriage in Crisis series.

Jules and Hayden

Rules and Heyden are a very chaotic couple. I tried to look beyond that as the plot itself is interesting and I enjoyed it. Recommended

The character of the sister and the hero's relationship with her and his midlife breakdown was so juvenile that I had a hard time getting through it.
