Still a well written book, unfortunately after reading book one it feels very repetitive and unoriginal.

This book captivated me from the very first chapter and never let go. It is an action-packed, emotionally charged mafia romance filled with danger, suspense, forced proximity, protective instincts, and a love story that develops amid complete chaos.

One of the most unforgettable moments had me holding my breath as Lila literally throws herself from a moving vehicle into traffic to escape her captors. The Bratva Sinner is the second book in the Sokolov Empire series. This time we get to know the youngest brother, Maxim Sokolov. He does not like being in the Bratva style like his older brothers. He prefers running his club but when they need him, he is there. He loves his family and he is very protective of people especially women. Let’s call it a savior complex. So when he sees a woman being mistreated at his club he step in. He has no business interfering with another mafia. He has told that Lila was sold to someone very dangerous, but he doesn’t care and he takes her anyway. This will start a war but he refuses to back down. He takes her to his home and tells her that he will protect her. He doesn’t know what it is about Lila but from the minute, he sees her he wants to protect her. He needs to protect her. Slowly his protection turns into obsession and now he wants to keep her.
Lila‘s night just turned into a nightmare when she was grabbed and taken to a club. I guess you could say this is a stop before meeting the man who bought her. Instead, she meets another man, Maxim. Someone who stood up to the men that had her and brought her home. However, he also locked her in the bedroom and now she’s terrified. He doesn’t touch her, he just makes sure she’s okay but she doesn’t know if she can trust him. All she wants to do is go home or get away. He tells her he will protect her, but she doesn’t believe him. Her night has been filled with men that are awful, evil, and untrustworthy. He treats her great and she feels safe with him, but she’s waiting for the other shoe to drop. She wants to trust him, but she scared. She hates it even more because she’s attracted to him and he let her know how much he likes her. Will she let him protect her or will she run away?
Clara Dunn had me so emotional with this one. I felt so bad for Lila. Even under Maxim’s protection she felt terrified. All she wants is to get away but she was in so much danger. She’s so scared but I guess she feels even though Maxim is the lesser of two evils, she is safe with him. I also felt bad for Maxim because I always thought he was the playboy of the brothers and he seems so carefree and happy. Yet, when we find out why he likes to help everyone, it is extremely sad. I love how patient he is with Lila and their chemistry is amazing. I was crying throughout the book. It was definitely emotional. It is filled with drama, humor, danger, heat, secrets, suspense, friendships, and devastating twists. I can’t wait for the next Sokolov brother.

From the very first chapter, The Bratva Sinner had me completely hooked. This wasn't just a Bratva romance. It was an adrenaline-fueled story filled with nonstop danger, emotional healing, fierce loyalty, and two characters who slowly discover that trust can be just as powerful as love.
Lila's story immediately pulled at my heart. After spending her entire life on the run with her mother, believing she had finally found a place to call home, everything is ripped away in an instant. Watching her navigate unimaginable grief while refusing to let anyone dictate her future made her incredibly easy to root for. She may be frightened, but she's also courageous, determined, and never willing to surrender without a fight.
Maksim was such a refreshing Bratva hero. Yes, he's ruthless when he needs to be, but underneath the tattoos, power, and reputation is a man driven by an overwhelming need to protect those who cannot protect themselves. His past shaped him into someone who refuses to stand by when innocent people are in danger, and that single instinct changes both his life and Lila's forever.
One of my favorite aspects of this romance was watching trust slowly replace fear. Lila doesn't immediately believe Maksim's promises, and honestly, why would she? Every act of kindness feels suspicious after everything she's endured. Their relationship develops naturally through patience, sacrifice, and shared trauma, making every emotional moment feel incredibly rewarding.
The suspense never lets up. Every time I thought the danger had finally passed, another twist pulled me right back in. Between betrayals, kidnappings, rival Bratva families, and shocking revelations, I genuinely couldn't predict what would happen next. The pacing kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end.
I also loved seeing more of the Sokolov brothers. Their loyalty to one another added another emotional layer to the story and reminded me that family, even in the Bratva world, can be one of the strongest forces driving every decision they make.

Maksim Sokolov is part of the Bratva. He runs Miami and keeps to himself for the most part. His your typical mob boss. Feral, murderer and not a person you would risk with your life. What people don’t see? He is a rescuer. He rescues people because he can. Because he couldn’t save his mother. And horses are his weakness. He can’t just walk away when he sees Lila. Drugged out of her mind. In a dress that covers nothing and she can’t walk unassisted. It’s obvious she’s being trafficked. What he doesn’t realise is that he has just started a war. For a woman he doesn’t know. So why is he ready to burn down Miami if it means she will be safe?
This series just keeps getting better and better. I love Clara’s style of writing and the plot in this book was next level. One thing that confused me was the differing last names but I’m not sure if this is a mob boss/bratva thing? There was Sokolov, Sokolva and Volkov.

A brilliant Russian mafia dark romance, the second in bratva series, The Sokolov Empire, by Clara Dunn; a page turner I couldn't put it down. There is kidnapping, murder, secrets, tension, danger, betrayal, plenty of emotion, a possessive bratva club owner who wants to protect and falls first (touch her and ☠️), virgin heroine with courage to fight for herself, age gap, forced proximity, marriage for protection, spice, great character development, some brilliant banter, heat, love, twists and a HEA.
Lila had lived her life on the move with her mum and she was happy with where they were until their caravan is broken into, her mum's killed and she's taken by strangers. She finds herself drugged and taken to a club where the owner makes it clear that the men who brought her must leave without her.
Maksim runs his businesses in Miami and is the youngest of three brothers. He looks after the people who work for him and protects the women in his club so when he sees Lila and realises something is wrong with her he steps in. Only once he's seen her up close he knows he's also not going to let her walk away from him.
Despite his offers of kindness, she's terrified and determined to escape, though every time puts her in more danger and pushes her back into his arms. So he offers marriage to protect her from the Albanians, and her feelings for him are grow the more time they spend together. But she'd already been sold to another Don and Maksim had broken an unwritten rule by taking her, though he'll now do anything and everything to protect her.
Cinder is a kind character, and it was also great to see the other brothers, Sergei and Nikolai, and the relationship and banter between the three is wonderful. I can't wait for Nikolai's story.

Lila had lived her life on the move with her mum and she was happy with where they were until their caravan is broken into, her mum's killed and she's taken by strangers. She finds herself drugged and taken to a club where the owner makes it clear that the men who brought her must leave without her.
Maksim runs his businesses in Miami and is the youngest of three brothers. He looks after the people who work for him and protects the women in his club so when he sees Lila and realises something is wrong with her he steps in. Only once he's seen her up close he knows he's also not going to let her walk away from him.
Despite his offers of kindness, she's terrified and determined to escape, though every time puts her in more danger and pushes her back into his arms. So he offers marriage to protect her from the Albanians, and her feelings for him are grow the more time they spend together. But she'd already been sold to another Don and Maksim had broken an unwritten rule by taking her, though he'll now do anything and everything to protect her.
Cinder is a kind character, and it was also great to see the other brothers, Sergei and Nikolai, and the relationship and banter between the three is wonderful. I can't wait for Nikolai's story.

The Bratva Sinner completely exceeded my expectations. The core strength of this story lies in the well-developed characters and the perfectly balanced pacing between romance and plot. It kept me turning pages late into the night, and I genuinely struggled to put it down.
Lila is a complex heroine. She is a fighter through and through, constantly looking over her shoulder after a lifetime of instability and losing her mother. She is young and stubborn, and she occasionally lashes out when she does not get her way.
However, she grows significantly by the end, eventually realizing who she can trust and embracing her new reality. Watching her finally accept her place and her husband was a satisfying payoff.
Maksim is the quintessential Bratva hero: possessive, protective, and willing to burn the world down for what is his. I loved that he was not just a standard mafia trope; he genuinely cared for his employees, the people in his clubs, and even the horses he helped save. Seeing him fall for Lila, drawn to her before he fully understood why, was heartwarming.
His loyalty to his brothers, Sergei and Nikolai, also added a wonderful "found family" layer to the story that I deeply appreciated.

This had tropes i do love and I honestly think the only reason It didn't blow me away was the FMC.
She is a young, stubborn, and can be seen rude to people that help her. She says things out of stubbornness and inside is mad or upset she isn't getting what she "wants." When he tells her they will marry she gets angry and says she isn't going to wear a dress.... then internally is upset she isn't getting to wear a pretty white dress. Not to mention the constant acting like leaving the house/horses was what she wants. She literally says she was on a ranch in Texas. So to all of a sudden decide everything she has is a prison was crazy.
The MMC was so protective and he was so loyal. He sent her on her way when she wanted to even after being warned. When he came to save her again I thought okay she understands finally. It took awhile for her to actually see him for the person he was. He was saving horses, people, and anything he could. He cared and it was really great to see a mafia book with that type of character.
The reasoning for wanting the FMC for villians was unique and I even looked up to see if it was true history. I really only struggled with the FMC majority of the book. By the end she is likable but it took awhile for me personally.

This is an unbelievable fantastic story about Maksim and Lila. Lila sees her mother killed and is kidnapped and taken from Texas to Miami. When the rival gang show up at Maksim’s club Maksim takes Lila away from them. Lila wakes in Maksims house as food is brought but she doesn’t trust anyone. Maksim finds himself in hot water because he broke an unwritten rule never to steal another Dons property namely Lila. Lila does not like her circumstances and decides to leave but soon finds herself in trouble and has no one to call but Maksim for help. Maksim tells Lila they are getting married for her protection. Lila is finally allowed to go out shopping with guards and she is abducted again and while in the car on the streets she throws herself out the door of the moving vehicle in the middle of traffic to get away. Lila is abducted another time and held by the rival Don but Maksim walks in and gives himself up to get her free and calls his brothers to make the Don believe there will be no repercussions for his being held. His both brothers come to the rescue but of course Lila can’t stay behind and has to follow to help get Maksim out. Maksim grabs Lila’s gun for the Don. His brother the Pakhan of the Russian Bratva tells them both he took care of the problem. I loved the ending you wrote for this story. I absolutely recommend this book to adults.

This book hooked me in since the first chapter. It was very written and at times it was like watching a movie where every scene plays clearly in front of you. That’s how well written it was.
This is Maxim and Lila’s story.Lila is kidnapped as part of a deal brokered years ago by her father. Maxim sees her in one of his clubs and takes her under his wing like he’s done so many others in the past. I loved how the mafia part of the business and how and why Maxim handles it was explained. It was nice to see it reiterated several times that everyone had a choice and no one was forced to stay. It was believable for Lila to accept the truth after hearing it several times from Maxim and the girls themselves. It was also nice to read about how Maxim set her free in the beginning while expecting her to be in trouble. Some things can only be learnt once you live it though. All the characters were very well sketched out and the relationship they shared with each other was lovely to read. Wish there were more scenes between the brothers though.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this. Maxim was a very well and relatable character. Lila wasn’t a damsel in distress either. Especially when she went to rescue Maxim or herself by jumping out of a car. Lila has lived her life moving from one place to another with her mother. New name, always looking over her shoulder, making sure everything was ok. Now in Texas she's found her love and calling working with the horses on the ranch. Except nothing stays perfect and now she knows nothing will be the same again. Seeing her mother die and unable to save her. Now she's drugged and tied in the back of a car being taken who knows where. Maksim runs his businesses and takes care of anyone who works for him. He runs Miami, whilst his oldest brother Sergei is Paken, and Nikolai his middle brother is building his empire in Vegas. Their father taught them all growing up to own what's theirs. But watching his mother die when he was sixteen, made Maksim more protective. Seeing the woman in one of his clubs manhandled and dragged by her hair makes him intervene. Claiming her as his heir never realised where this would end up. This is a story that twists and turns with each chapter. Just who wants Lila and why. What will she say when he tells her she'll be his wife. Can Maksim really protect her. What will he be prepared to risk to save her. Will she ever trust and love him. Or will she run when she gets the opportunity. I couldnt put this book down and can't wait for Nikolai's story

Lila is definitely childish/young with some of her thinking and actions throughout the book. There are times where I really just wanted to smack her to her senses, haha. Another interesting novel where Lila has a mysterious history where she doesn’t know why she & her mom have been running for years. Maksim rescues Lila from a dangerous situation. He doesn’t realize until later how important Lila is & he refuses to set her free or to return her to the kidnapper. She’s ending up to be more trouble than everyone thought but Maksim is set on keeping her safe & to eliminate those who are determined to take her away from him. He calls her a warrior & it suits her. She’s a brave fighter who won’t give up in order to survive.
With a few important clues hidden from the reader, there’s a good dose of suspense for most of the novel. Not knowing if Maksim is her shiny knight in armor or the devil in disguise, we are mixed in with Lila’s doubts too. When her importance is revealed, the urgency has been upgraded into protecting her & eliminating the dangerous threats so she can finally feel freedom & having a normal life. Add this novel to your TBR list & be absorbed into cheering these two to fight for freedom, love & happiness.

It is well written, fast paced and definately a page-turner.

He wants to save Lila, definately a young damsel in distress. He wants to save her.

Bratva Sinner is the second book in the Sokolov Empire series, and I have to say… this one is my favourite! I absolutely loved every moment of it, and the characters completely stole my heart.
This story follows Maksim, our irresistible Bratva Prince. He rules Miami with an iron fist but has a soft spot for protecting those who can’t protect themselves. Then there’s Lila, a fierce, strong-willed country girl who is so much more than she first appears. She’ll do anything for the people she loves.
I’m usually not a fan of age-gap romances, but this book completely won me over. The chemistry, the tension, and the protective instincts had me hooked from beginning to end.

We jump right into it with both feet from chapter one!
The youngest of the Sokolov brothers, Maksim, is our main morally grey brother in this novel. He’s charming, smart and a 100 percent ruthless. He is touch her and die from the moment he sees her.
Lila is hellfire and holy water. An innocence wrapped in fury. She is out paying for the sins of her father female main character.
Together they are a hurricane wrapped in sunshine. And it’s absolutely brilliant. Clara Dunn does it again. Weaving a world within our own full of complex characters, violence and romance. Our characters are beautifully broken and perfectly whole together.
Cinder is an amazing addition to the mafia brotherhood, which as the name suggests doesn’t usually include women.
Clara Dunn once again leaves us wrapped in a story so perfectly paced that you can’t put it down. This is a must read and for mafia romance lovers, you will not be disappointed.

These two are my fav couple of Clara's the fire between these two 🔥
Lila the FMC is a fighter and badass and hates that she needs help to survive
Maksim the MMC is the youngest brother of the Sokolova, he doesn't really feel like one of the bratva, more of a spare brother
The bond is undeniable for Maksim, but not for Lila, she doesn't understand him or why he wants to help her and he has his own journey to understand his own need to help women in need
The fight these two go through, push them together and I just loved the strength in Lila
If you want to start with Book 1 it follows the oldest bratva Sokolova brother, Sergei and his promise to protect a young girl, his enemies daughter, she is the next heir and not everyone is happy with a female boss and Sergei's need to protect turns personal
Can't wait for book 3 the middle brother and we all know the middle child feels they have alot to prove.

A new author to add to my library. This could be read as a standalone but also would have been nice to have read book prior.
Maksim & Lila came togetherness unexpectedly. From Texas’s to a Miami nightclub that also is a safe haven for sexual workers. Maksim, a saviour of souls who he makes a protective barrier for them. They work for him but also in a safe environment.
Lila became the exception. A paid debt for her father years ago led her down a path of uncertainty. One word changed her circumstances- “please”.
Enough said, to fully understand, you need to read and follow the worst of their lives. Lila is the exception but why? This is the crux to the storyline.

Clara Dunn has such a great writing style - the story just grips you and makes it difficult to put down.
Lila returns home to the trailer she shared with her mum in Texas, to find her mum battered and beaten, with two men in the shadows.
She’s heartbroken when they shoot her mum and take Lila captive.
She is drugged and after being transported to various places, ends up barely dressed and in a club in Miami owned by Maksim Sokolov. He’s the third brother of the Bratva Sokolov family.
Lila is being dragged through his club by the Albanians. Maksim doesn’t like them and he also has banned them from dragging trafficked girls through his club.
Their treatment of Lila sparks something deep within him which sets off a train of events.
This story is so gripping - don’t miss it 😉.

I am a huge fan of Mafia books but normally the FMC is portrayed as a damsel in distress who needs saving relies on the MMC to take care of them. I was wonderfully surprised to find that was not the case with Lila the FMC in this book. Does she need saving yes but she's also strong, stubborn and slow to trust. She really gives Maksim the MMC a run for his money. The pace of the story for me was perfect. I didn't find myself skipping paragraphs to get to the next thing like I tend to do if i feel like a certain scene is dragging on for to long. This book is part of a trilogy but each book can be read independently of the others. I read this one first but will definitely be going back to read the first and counting the days for the 3rd to release.

Clara has catapulted her way up to an author i must read more of! The bratva Sinner was such a fabulous mafia romance. You have your strong and fierce bratva brother Makism that fights for the survival of his woman Lila. Lila was so feisty but she had moments I was saying prayers of thanks where her feisty nature took a back seat to logic in key moments. I appreciated her character all the more for the growth. Making was swoony as he protects Lila and the women at his business. He was hot and fierce in all the right ways. The plot was suspenseful as they try to outmaneuver the Albanians. I honestly cant wait to read Clara's blacklist now because her writing gelt like a harmonious match with my personal taste.

She is abducted and taken to Florida, where she is kept under confinement and drugged into complacency.
Her captors drag her to a club, where she is rescued by the owner, who takes her to a safe place.
Her abductors are relentless, and a war between Bratva/Mafia factions ensues.
It is an exciting and tense book in many spots, as they try to navigate the situation her existence puts them in.

This was an excellent read! Another fabulous book by Clara! I couldn't get enough of Lila and Maksim! This was in intense book! Lila was a very strong young women who had endured a lot through her life and was going through so much and then is thrown into a hot mess. Maksim came along at the right time and saved her from a bad situation that saved her life. It took Lila time to trust Maksim but she eventually does. Maksim has never felt for a woman the way he feels for Lila. He saves women, gives them a safe place for them to stay, to do their business and keep them protected. I loved these characters! This was a 5-star plus read!!

Lila, the FMC, is an annoying brat. She's in real danger, and instead of accepting Maksim's protection, he's the MMC, she fights him at every turn. She constantly fights with other people in the house and just comes off as an asshole.
Maksim should be smarter than he is. His actions and relationship with Lila put a target on his entire organization's back. I think the side characters in this book like Cinder and Damien are right to dislike Lila.
I didn't like either of these characters, and by the time I added this to my DNF pile, the story was going nowhere. I don't recommend this book at all.

Maxim is against human trafficking and he wouldn't let that happen in his club. When he saw a young girl being drugged and dragged in his club, he couldn't let go so he rescues her. He didn't know this would start a war between him and Albanian gang.
Maxim is determined to protect her at any cost and Lila will do everything to get away from it all. Lila being 19 years old and stubborn, situations escalate and it will change everything for Maxim and Lila.
At first, Lila was not easy to like but she did warm up as soon as she understood Maxim and they finally found their way to each other. Also both suffer from similar trauma. Even though there is 18 years age gap, it didn't seem like it was big factor once Lila let Maxim in.
It is not easy read but worth to read for HEA. Must read triggers before starting. I actually enjoyed this more much more than the first book. I can't wait to read his brother.
