Sabrina learned how to survive long before she ever learned how to feel safe.
After a hidden world fractures her reality, survival is no longer enough. Her blood awakens an ancient force tied to the Everworld and the past she buried begins to surface in ways she can no longer control.
As power, hunger and memory collide, Sabrina must confront who she is becoming and who she is allowed to be.
Caught between forces that seek to claim her, she learns that love does not always ask to be earned… and that healing does not promise wholeness.
Blood of the Chosen is a dark new adult fantasy exploring trauma, agency and the cost of survival. It is the first book in The Last Guardian series.
Perfect for readers of dark portal fantasy, chosen-one mythology and emotionally driven supernatural worlds.
I loved this book. The story captures you and just flows from the very beginning. The different types of vampires – Sanguis vs Mortus brought a new layer of depth to the story. Loved the tension between Sabrina, and the two brothers Caleb and Ronan and the different emotions they bring out in her. Poor girl is just living her life, trying to stay positive when the whole thing gets flipped inside out and she learns she’s meant to be a guardian and all that entails. The transitions between her dreams where it seems like she was a different person in another lifetime being brought into her real life are delicate and confusing and leave you with so many questions. Definitely book 1 of a series. I can’t wait for the second to come out.
This was a good read overall. I really appreciated the way the book explored trauma through the FMC and her growth throughout the story. I also enjoyed the vampires and guardians, and I’m definitely curious to learn more about what the FMC truly is.
For me, the story could have used more world-building and deeper character development. The pacing felt rushed at times, and some scene transitions were abrupt, which made parts of the story confusing to follow.
Overall, it gave me a bit of a Freddy Krueger meets The Vampire Diaries (the TV show) vibe with some slow-burn tension. A solid concept with potential, and I’d be interested in seeing where the story goes next.
I received this book as an advanced copy, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I enjoyed this read. It was a story within a story. Sabrina has lived a life a heartache and pain. She chooses to stay in the shadows but she'll soon find out she's meant for so much more. One rejection begins to change her life and lead to events she would have never dreamed of. With patience, love and a side of roughness, those around her help guide her through and fight alongside her. The truth lies behind betrayals, mistrust and dreams she cant quite understand. I can't wait to find out what happens next because this story is far from over.
I seriously could not stop with this book, while I may have a few small things I told the author I personally prefer, there was a lot more that I really loved to this. I loved the fact that the fmc wasn't perfect, she isn't overpowered, she struggles, she grows, she has issues but she keeps going. The use of other types of vampires was also perfect, I love a change from the standard that is well thought out. The use of Latin worked well in this as well. Great descriptions without going over the top. I will definitely be looking for her books in the future!
I received this book in advance and let me just start by saying the author is amazing. Super sweet and what to have honest feedback and thoughts. The book was amazing i couldn’t stop reading it. I feel as though it is hinting at a sequel with how the ending was. But i live the friendship that builds between the vampires and guardians. It plays to the them that what seems to be the good could be a mask and that working together will help save the world. It truly was a great book and look forward to more from this amazing author.
ARC Review: I really enjoyed reading this book and feel that it has a lot of potential! The only thing I struggled with was that at times, scenes would change abruptly without a transition so it would take me a moment to realize this and I would have to re read the last few sentences. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this and can’t wait to see where the series goes!
