It was like he had stepped straight out of my dream. He was even wearing the same clothes. I stood rooted to the spot as he walked right past me without even glancing my way.

Susannah has a prophetic dream about a guy she has never met. She later sees him at school and learns that he is a new student. He awakens a power in her that she never knew she possessed.

I love to write, but quitting my day job is not an option. I survive on coffee and too little sleep. This is a habit from my teens when I used to stay up most of the night reading books.

Susannah has the largest crush on a young man until another walks into the picture. At first she won't admit it until she finds they have something unique in common - magic. She and Duncan can read peoples' thoughts and communicate with each other telepathically. Through this link they grow closer until Duncan's ex-girlfriend moves to town and inserts herself into the picture.

The story has a steady pacing and some fairly suspenseful parts. The story is one part romance one part urban fantasy. The author dos a good job dragging the reader along as Duncan and Susannah grow closer then splitting them apart. It only made me want them together more. She also does a great job at depicting high school life and woes and building characterization.

This was my first time listening to a book narrated by Sarah Sampino. She does a great job with pacing, voices and getting the reader into the characters. I'll happily listen to another story she's narrated.

This story is appropriate for young adult s well as adults like me who enjoy the YA genre. It's also bound to be a favorite among readers who enjoy romance.

Ok, this author seriously has to work on her endings!! I actually really liked this book- it was well written, intriguing and kept my interest all the way through the end; the only downside was the abrupt ending that did not round out the book very well. I wish this book was bit longer so that there was time to fully flesh out the ending and a few parts throughout. However, good time progression was shown so it didn't seem like Duncan and Susannah fell into insta-love; actually, they quite disliked each other first, lol, then came friendship and finally romance. I like how Duncan couldn't stay away from her, though he realized he should have. Anna was a great character, the two-faced beyotch that she is. Duncan could have told Susannah what was going on much sooner, though, and it wouldn't have caused such conflict between them.

We never really found out much about what these abilities were- the limitation and origin to them; this part was not well explained and I wish we would have gotten more background. Also, what happened with the ? I wish we'd gotten more answers with this.

Altogether an interesting story, I just wish the ending was better.

I should have started reading this earlier in the day and then I wouldn't be so sleep deprived! A fast paced supernatural love story filled with danger and intrigue. And yes, I'll read it again.

Great Story & Audible Listen🎧 Fascinating & Enjoyable!

Strange Magic
By: Suzana Thompson
Narrated by: Sarah Sampino

I thoroughly enjoy this book, it is well written with interesting storylines that are both fascinating and captivating from start to end. Suzana Thompson is a gifted author with a creative and imaginative mind. The characters and storylines she created are realistic with a touch of supernatural and made it seem not so unusual, that there is magic inside everyone. Susannah was your ordinary HS girl, then she has a dream of a nice looking guy who turns out to be a new student in her school. She also finds she can communicate with him telepathically. She does not understand what is happening. Duncan, the new guy in school, is not very nice to her, thinks she is playing him.. When he finally realizes she is telling the truth he tries to help her understand. Then his past comes back to haunt him, his ex-girlfriend Anna, she is the reason why he moved from his old home. Anna is manipulative and not nice at all and she comes into town with a purpose. She fools everyone at first but when she reveals what she is after her true colors show. I loved how everything played out, how Susannah’s powers started to surface and strengthen. Knowing how evil Anna could be Duncan tried to protect Susannah by pushing her away, but she did not give up on him. Then Susannah, her best friend Caitlin & boyfriend Alex, Duncan and his Mom teamed up and come up with a plan to stop Anna from creating havoc. I loved the ending, kind of reminded me how love and goodness prevails. This is an enjoyable and entertaining story, it contains plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns as well as a sweet YA romance. Suzanna Thompson, thank you for the is great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Sampino is a wonderful narrator and voice performer. She brings these characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality. She does an amazing job projecting the emotions of the characters as well as the drama of the story into her performance. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another great listen🎧

3.5 stars. I liked this. A quick, easy read. I'd picked up a copy for kindle during a free/promotion, and then was able to snag the audio for free in exchange for an honest review. I always like having the kindle copy in addition to audio, but I found I didn't really need to refer to it here (which is often a sign of a good audiobook). The narrator was good, not a voice I'd heard before. There were a few times inflections/timing was just a bit odd, overall good. Liked the "voices" for the various characters.

It started off strong. A boy in a dream. Then, there is the boy in real life. He doesn't react the way he did in the dream though (kissing in the dream, antagonistic in real life). Lots of high school drama. Add in a bit of "magic" ... but I didn't consider this magic. Magic is witches and Harry Potter. This was more of ESP/paranormal power. The title just didn't match the feel of the book to me.

While I enjoyed the read and liked the story, I'm a little afraid it will meld in my memory with all the other books I've read. Nothing in it to really make it stand out. If there was a sequel, I'd probably read on, but as far as I can tell it's "one and done". While all the questions weren't answered, it did wrap up and left me satisfied.

I had to wonder if there was something in Duncan's mom's tea, the way she kept pushing it (nope, just a little part of the story I guess).

The narrator did a great job; totally recommend listening. She fits the characters nicely.

A sweet story with some cool sort of mystical stuff; I actually would’ve loved for more of the whole mystical scenario. The story focuses more on the build up of the romance. Loved the whole dreaming of someone before meeting them, so I was all on board for that, but this one is a slow burn type thing. Susannah and Duncan get off on a bad foot when Duncan thinks Susannah has ill intentions and they date other people, but there’s a connection there. Susannah and Duncan can commute in each other’s heads, but with the animosity between them, they aren’t happy about it. I would’ve liked more time with Susannah and Duncan actually together, but the story was entertaining the whole time. The connection between the two is wonderful and they are both adorable. I would’ve liked a bit more in the end, but overall, an interesting read!

This was such a cool young adult magic story. Susannah doesn't know about her abilities. Then she meets a new guy in school, Duncan. Suddenly she can hear his thoughts and he can communicate with her telepathically. He keeps accusing her of trying to deceive him. I felt so bad for Susannah. She had no idea what was happening. Then the truth comes out. As if dealing with powers she didn't know she had was enough, there is now a new girl in school connected to Duncan who has ill intentions. Susannah realizes her true powers but it might not be enough to save herself and her friends. This was such a fun story. I didn't know what was going to happen next! I highly recommend this young adult story. This narrator did a great job. Her voice was perfect for this story and I felt like the characters were talking to me personally.

Ok I was seriously pulled into this story. I was on the edge of my seat waiting and wondering what was going to happen next. Or why was this happening. I Loved every second of this story. From Susannah and her friend To Duncan and his mom. It was all good!

This isn’t my first book by this author. I feel she does a great job building her characters and her stories. They always seem to intrigue me and keep my interest. I did listen to this on audio. Sarah Sampino did a wonderful job and had me chuckling a couple times.

Susannah had a strange dream about a mysterious boy and then saw him when school started the next morning. Duncan had moved to escape from his past and now he may be facing the same thing. Susannah and Duncan’s interesting and exciting romance was riddled with complications from his past, the new bond from the power they shared, danger, fun and a bit of kissing along the way as they tried to figure out how to be together. Fun read

This audiobook was EXCELLENT. I loved pretty much all the characters. I think Ana could have her own book. For some reason I found her extremely interesting. But I always did have a tendency to root for the bad guy. I didn't exactly LOVE the ending. It felt a little....flat...maybe. But that is only because the rest of the book was so awesome, I think. I also think that narrator did a fantastic job. This isn't the first book that I have heard her narrate, and she always brings so much to the story. And I can't wait to hear more from these guys!

This is a YA paranormal story. The author did a great job leading the reader into the characters lives and showing little by little their powers. Not a clear explanation of why they have the powers but it's just a brief thought. There comes along an antagonist that does a great job of scaring everyone. I liked the story and the narrator was fantastic. I received this audiobook by my request in exchange for an honest review from Audiobook Boom.

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and all opinions expressed herein are my own.

I was pulled into this book from the very beginning. It is a well-written and imaginative book. I found the teenage characters to be very likeable and they behaved like teenagers. I absolutely loved the powers they had - and how they went about using them.

The narrator, Sarah Sampino, did a great job as narrator.

What would you do if the boy from your dreams is actually real and you just haven’t met him yet? Suzana finds this out in this roller coaster of a book. I loved seeing her abilities become stronger and the side romance was a plus too.

I enjoyed this story. The idea was different then most magic stories. When Susannah dreams of Duncan she has no idea he is a real person. Duncan has trouble believing that Susannah doesn't understand she has magic. The side characters are really well written into the story. It's a quick story but a good listen. The narrator did a great job.

wow

Wow. Just wow. Just when you get a glimpse of de ja vu and find that it was something that really did happen or was about to happen. It makes you think twice about how things happen and why they happen. This book was well written and made me wonder if stuff like his really happens. You will have to read the book to see what I'm talking about.
