This is how the World Ends.

The Throne of Broken Gods Part 2 starts out very slowly. Dianna spends a substantial portion of the first half drowning in grief, guilt, and self-loathing while Samkiel and co. patiently try to pull her back into the world. There are repeated conversations, emotional setbacks, and revelations, and it takes quite a while for the story to actually get moving which impacted my rating on the story. But once it does, hold on tight!

The spice is definitely not lacking. Let's just say Samkiel and Dianna's enthusiasm for consummating their relationship results in some serious structural damage. The intimate scenes are lengthy, explicit, and very strongly performed, with Marissa Clay and Gabriel Michael FULLY committing to the emotional intensity of the material. Michael John Casey as Cameron also demonstrates a surprisingly confident and sensual range in one particularly memorable scene that I definitely didn't see coming.

Rayner Gabriel as Kaden gives an amazing performance.  Kaden is a villian who fills you with helpless, impotent rage!  His wickedness is not the dark shadow daddy with a heart of gold type.  Here is an evil selfish monster who delights in the pain he causes.  Your day is coming, sir!

Secrets are everywhere in this book: hidden identities, suppressed powers, ancient prophecies, missing history, family secrets, half-truths, and betrayals. And there are enough people withholding critical information to make you want to shake everyone and yell, "JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER!"

Once those pieces begin falling into place, the story accelerates dramatically. The mysteries surrounding Yejedin, Kaden, Unir, Dianna's origins, the war, and the realms all start connecting, leading to some genuinely excellent twists and several moments that made me want to go back and reconsider earlier installments with everything I now know.

Dianna's journey from grief, guilt, and self-loathing to finally fighting for herself, her love, and the people around her is especially satisfying. I also loved watching Cam, Xavier, Imogen, and Neverra treat her like a person rather than a monster or a problem that needs to be solved.

The production continues to be a major strength. The sound design is particularly effective during Dianna's psychological sequences, using music, echoes, memories, and recurring environmental sounds to make her emotional state feel almost claustrophobic.

Once Kaden's plans are revealed, the book shifts into full-scale catastrophe: betrayal, manipulation, revelations, and some genuinely brutal moments of helplessness. The cast does an excellent job conveying the rage, desperation, grief, and emotional devastation of the final act.

My biggest issue remains the pacing. I enjoyed the story and I'm invested in these characters, but the repetition in the first half became difficult to ignore. Fortunately, the final stretch delivers some major revelations and a LOT of action, making the wait worthwhile.  For all the emotional turmoil this book brings, I cannot WAIT for the next installment.

Story: ★★★☆☆
Production: ★★★★★
Spice: ★★★★★ (explicit sexual encounters)

*Thank you, Graphic Audio. I received an advance review copy for free & I am leaving this review voluntarily of my own opinions*

I think I preferred the 1st half the audiobook. I had no problems with Graphic Audio's production nor the people who helped bring this story to life, they did a fantastic job!

However, the story itself.. first off while I have nothing against the spicy scenes in this book.. this could've been shortened DRAMATICALLY if we spent more time on the story than Diana & Samkiel going at it like rabbits. I found myself growing bored with the lack of movement in the pace of the book & wanted to scream "can we please get on with it already?!". As always it seems too, at the very end we get smashed & drowned in nonstop information & revelations & betrayals & everything we could have gotten to rather than Diana & Samkiel sitting in self pity & then rabbits in heat for majority of this installment. I'm getting frustrated of authors just dumping nonstop huge chunks of information that make everything you ever read/listened to up to this point go into question & make you rethink major plot points.. but give the readers zero time to even digest a quarter of the information before the book is over & we're left stunned & with, of course, a cliffhanger because it's always got to be some massive push-you-over-the-cliff cliffhanger rather than just one more.. digestible.. but still enough to make you want to continue on with the series rather than want to scream in frustration lol I'm still trying to digest all the information that was dropped on us so I admit it's hard to really review something that I haven't even fully digested yet, but on the other hand I'll probably be digesting it for awhile & will be waiting for the next book so I can start from the beginning & maybe actually understand some clues that were there that we couldn't be expected to notice because we were left with so many secrets for 2 whole books. For the reason just mentioned I decided to rate the story itself
3 stars ⭐⭐⭐ for now.. but I don't need to digest anything to know Graphic Audio is
5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
as I really couldn't imagine experiencing this book in any other format, as frustrating as the story itself is lol
for Goodreads I decided to rate in the middle of the 2 ratings.

This was a very anticipated listen for me! I have really liked the series thus far, even with my slight issues with the first half of this adaptation. I still generally have the same feeling as the first half-- there was a lot of repeated scenes but just slightly different to the point where it was getting a little annoying. I still love the interactions with all of the characters and the romance in it. There were some genuinely heartfelt moments that the story explored that were really touching, but as I said, I think that it was a bit repetitive.

As always though, the cast at Graphic Audio always does a wonderful job! They were all absolutely amazing in their performances, and I love listening to them! They definitely have been helping me get through any of the drier parts of the story. Overall, this was very enjoyable and I am very excited for the next adaptation of the series by the Graphic Audio team!

Thank you, Graphic Audio. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The story that continues in part 2 of the graphic is so much better than part 1. The cast were amazing. The sound effects were great as well. I am so glad I decided to listen instead of reading this book. The cast had so much feeling and depth. The character development and world building are done so well. As I’m listening, it is so easy to visualize the story. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

So I really like the series but I finished this one and had a few problems especially already starting the next book. So we find out a lot at the end and it’s a lot but it doesn’t feel dramatic enough like the characters aren’t shocked enough and it’s like things are happening so fast and something feels off. We find out who Diana’s dad is and it’s like it just sorta moves on from that there’s a whole thing with him dying but it doesn’t feel real enough or connected enough idk how to word it it just did seem great. Even saying that there was a lot of plot twists at the end the were a shock and nice. I’m excited to see what comes in the next book with the dramatic change at the end of this book.

Five stars for the graphic audio bc that’s the only way I’m getting through these stories.

I absolutely love the story between Samkiel and Dianna. I love the touch her and die and I’ll burn all worlds down for you vibes.

Did I see the betrayal coming - nope. Am I ready to see Dianna bring the whole world down - yep!

I like part one better. I expected more action wise. Azriel being Diana’s father and Kaden being Samkiel’s brother were the only real surprises. Everything else (for the most part) was pretty predictable
