A SUPERNATURAL THRILLER FROM THE AUTHOR OF ‘BENEATH’ AND ‘THE WILDS’

Julia Draper, an artist recovering from a nervous breakdown, moves into a new home with her surgeon husband. The house was once the scene of a brutal murder. Is there a presence in the house trying to make contact with Julia? Or is she once more on the edge of losing her mind?

D.C.I. Sam Fluting is a desperate man. For years he has been trying to catch the, seemingly unstoppable, serial killer dubbed ‘The Lincoln Ripper’. With each new murder the media, the public and his superiors lose more faith in Sam’s ability to finish the job.

As the killer taunts Sam at every step, the presence in the Draper’s home offers Julia warnings for her own safety. As Julia and Sam’s stories become more entwined the stage is set for a terrifying, and violent showdown.

Julia believes she has found the perfect home. The only problem is, is that it was the scene of a brutal crime, and strange things start happening, as soon as Julia and her husband Steven move in.

This is a well paced supernatural thriller that readers of both supernatural and crime fiction will enjoy. The police investigation into a serial killer is interesting, and the descriptions of the victims are graphic, but needed to fully show the mentality of the killer. I had worked out who the killer was quite early on, but discovering why they killed kept me turning the pages to a conclusion that was both surprising and satisfying.

This is the first book I've read by Kit, and I'll be having a look at his other books soon.

That's what I call an absolute page turner! Police can't track down the Lincoln Ripper who already killed 10 women in six years. Is the finding of a scalpel leading to a new trace? Julia tries to start painting again after severe depressions and moves into a big house together with her husband Steven. The house is the former home of the ripper's first victim. Why feels Julia drawn to this house? Will Sam Fluking be finally able to track down the ripper? And most interesting, who is the ripper and why is he committing all those terrible killings? Oh, Steven is having an affair with a mysterious woman named Ariel while Julia is in the mental ward. What is her role in the story? Kit manages to hold you on the edge of your seat. Spine tingling tension leads you further and further into a nightmare full of mystery, horror and the mind of a sick killer. The book is a fantastic read you can't put out of your hand. Absolutely recommended to every horror, thriller and slasher fan. The author really knows how to get the plot going. It's an absolute horror feast!

There are a few indie authors who I keep an eye out for new releases from and Kit Tinsley is one of them. He writes horror stories based in his home county of Lincolnshire and based on his stories I'm not sure why anyone would want to live there!

This latest release blends two familiar tales - that of a serial killer and a haunted house and the two entwine as the story progresses. While both threads are equally well crafted I preferred the haunting thread, simply because it enjoys a bit more of a build up and also because I enjoy a good ghost story.

For the serial killer it provides the meat of the story and I'll confess that I was a little disappointed as I thought I had it all figured out. It turned out that while I did work out most of it there was a surprise revelation at the end. I enjoy a story that surprises me, especially one where the indications were there, so as well as a strong ghost story this book works well as a thriller.

As with his previous books the writing is strong, and I did recognise an improvement in the author's talent. The plot felt tighter and more nuanced than his previous work. There is some real horror here, which is well paced with the story's progression. As with his previous books I'd recommend this to any fans of the genre.

Torn about my rating....

I was going to give this four stars, but the politically correct, social injustices dialogue in the final chapter ruined it for me. The story is entertaining, moved at a good pace, and is well-written. The paranormal aspect is perfectly balanced with the thriller/mystery aspect; making a perfect blend of a paranormal thriller. The characters are pretty well developed, even though their individual back stories were slightly under developed. Overall it is an involving, quick, and entertaining read. However, as previously mentioned, the cliche and politically correct final chapter leaves the reader shaking their head in wonderment. Why must a perfectly good read have to have cliche messages spelled out for them?

The formatting of the kindle version was a challenge. There weren't any spaces separating major scene changes. Once you got used to that glitch it was much easier to read.

Julia Draper and her surgeon husband move into a house with a grisly past. It isn't long before strange things start happening in the house which can't be explained. Meanwhile the local police force have their work cut out trying to catch the Lincoln Ripper. Are the two connected?

This is a fast-paced page turner with lots of twists and turns that kept me wondering what was going to happen next. The storyline is unique and intriguing and well developed. Another great horror from Kit Tinsley which gave me an uneasy feeling the whole way through, and a few shock horror moments.

Great book

Very suspenseful, I had it figured out who it was from about the middle of the book, when Steven found the shoes that didn't belong to his wife.
