Gansett Island Series Boxed Set #4-6

Rate this book
With nearly 2 million ebooks sold since Maid for Love debuted in 2011, the New York Times bestselling Gansett Island Series has become one of the most beloved romance series available today. Read three books in the series: Falling for Love, Hoping for Love and Season for Love in this special offering.

Book 4: Falling for Love
Since he won the Academy Award for best original screenplay a few years ago, Grant McCarthy's personal and professional lives have fallen apart. Abby, the woman he was supposed to marry, is engaged to someone else, and Grant is back at home on Gansett Island helping to run the family marina business while his father recovers from a serious injury. While all Grant's focus should be on winning back the love of his life, pesky Stephanie, who runs the marina restaurant, is working her way under his skin and into his bed. As Tropical Storm Hailey cuts off Gansett Island from the mainland, Grant suspects Stephanie is hiding something big from her past. When he finds out what it is, what will be more important to him? Winning Abby back or helping Stephanie to right a terrible wrong?

Book 5: Hoping for Love
All her life, Grace Ryan was the "fat girl." Taunted and teased and ignored by her peers, she tried every diet ever invented to no avail. Desperate to change her life as her twenties slipped away, she decided it was time for drastic measures and had lap-band surgery. More than a year later, she's lost 130 pounds and is venturing into the dating world for the first time. During a boat trip to Gansett Island with the new guy in her life, Grace refuses to have sex with him and finds herself abandoned without a dollar to her name at McCarthy's Gansett Island Marina. At home for the summer awaiting the launch of his debut CD, music star-in-the-making Evan McCarthy is performing at the Tiki Bar when he notices Grace looking lost in a sea of happy people. Evan comes to her aid and quickly finds himself smitten. But the last thing Grace needs after all she's been through is a guy who "doesn't do relationships." Will Evan change his ways to win Grace's heart?

Book 6: Season for Love
His idea of permanence is the VW van that takes him from one gig to the next…

Owen Lawry has made a living as a traveling musician and enjoys his footloose and fancy free lifestyle. But after meeting Laura McCarthy and helping her to land the job as manager of his grandparents’ hotel on Gansett Island, Owen decides there’s something to be said about a roof over his head and a warm, sexy woman in his bed.

Laura, a newlywed who discovered that her husband never quit dating, came to Gansett for her cousin Janey’s wedding, but ended up staying after she met Owen and took on the renovations to the dilapidated Sand & Surf Hotel.

As Owen and Laura’s attraction simmers during months of close proximity, they form a tight bond that will be tested when her estranged husband refuses to grant her a divorce. As summer turns to autumn and Laura and Owen take baby steps toward love, favorite characters from past Gansett Island stories continue to live their happily ever afters.

"With the McCarthy's of Gansett Island, Marie Force makes you believe in the power of true love and happily ever after. Over and over again." Carly Phillips, NY Times Bestselling Author of the Serendipity series.

Falling for Love
Falling for Love picks up where Ready for Love the 3rd book in Force’s 26 book Gansett Island series left off. It’s the morning after Janey McCarthy and Joe Cantrell’s wedding. In an attempt to make Abby his former girlfriend of ten or more years, now engaged to another man jealous, Grant McCarthy spent his little sister’s wedding drinking, dancing and flirting with Stephanie who runs the family’s marina restaurant. He wakes up the next morning naked, hungover and next to an equally naked Stephanie. It was obvious from what the author revealed of this book in the previous one that the main story line will be Grant foolishly and hopelessly trying to win back the affections of Abby the woman whose love he took for granted and lost while denying his attraction to Stephanie until he can’t. Stephanie reveals deep dark secrets about her past that still consume her life. Because this is like an ensemble television series (which I love) there are also multiple secondary stories. There’s the second chance at love story between Ned and Francine, mother of Maddie the female protagonist in the first story, the maid in Maid for Love and Tiffany who will get her own book in the future. There’s Tiffany’s ongoing marital problems and her search for her father who abandoned his family before she was even old enough to remember him. There’s the beginnings of a romance between Laura McCarthy a cousin of the Gansett Island McCarthys who came to the island for her cousin’s wedding and Owen a vagabond musician who performed at Janey’s and Joe’s wedding. Hurricane Hailey brings life on Gansett Island to a temporary halt causing problems when Maddie goes into labor six weeks early.
Hoping for Love
The main story here is supposed to be about Evan McCarthy confirmed bachelor and budding recording star and Grace Ryan mainland pharmacist 28 year old virgin and former fat girl who now 130 lbs. lighter, finds herself the object of the attention of many handsome single males falling in love. Along of course with assorted secondary stories like the return of Bobby Chester to Gansett Island and the disruption it creates for the family he abandoned over 30 years ago. Or a rare rough patch in the idyllic forty-year marriage between Big Mac and Linda McCarthy. There’s Mac Jr. still looking out for everyone in his family, his wife Maddie and two children, his father Big Mac and his sister-in-law Tiffany. Newly coupled Grant and Stephanie (Falling for Love) are still fighting and fucking in equal measure as they try to both work and live together. But for some strange reason the author devotes nearly as much of this book to the story of vagabond musician Owen Lawry falling for Laura McCarthy, cousin of the McCarthy’s of Gansett Island and recently separated and pregnant from her husband of three months. Which is only strange because Owen and Laura get their own book, Season for Love, the next in this series. I mean this isn’t like the previous books in this series where she devotes a chapter to introduce the next couple and their backstories. She literally gives Owen’s and Laura’s budding romance as much page time as she does Evan’s and Grace’s.
Honestly, I found this story as mildly annoying as it was equally entertaining. Because in Evan and Owen we have two equally kindred spirits suffering from the Peter Pan syndrome. Two thirty something men who act like commitment phobe twenty-somethings. At an age when most people are coupling up, settling down and beginning families these two are so committed to their bachelor lifestyles that when Cupid’s arrow strikes both of them despite warnings from family members, they go down kicking and screaming trying to resist their attraction to Grace and Laura respectively and hold on to their no commitment lifestyle. At least when we learn of Owen’s backstory his reluctance to settle down makes some sense. But as he says to Evan, (and I’m paraphrasing) “what’s your problem with relationships? You’ve grown up with the gold standard of what a happy loving marriage looks like.” I had to agree. I’m just at a loss to understand how Force is going to dedicate and entire full length book to Owen and Laura after revealing so much of their story in this one?
Season for Love
As previously stated with so much of Laura’s and Owen’s love story introduced in Hoping for Love I was really curious as to how Force could turn the balance of their story into a new full-length book? The answer is this book while it could be argued Owen and Laura are the main focus contains a lot of secondary stories involving the other couples we’ve already met and introducing new characters who will get their own books. And honestly I love it! The reason I love to read series is because I love it when characters from previous books keep appearing in new books like old friends. And in this book appear they do as we keep up with what’s going on in the lives of Mac Sr. and Linda’s, Mac Jr. and Maddies, her sister Tiffany and future love Gansett Island Police Chief Blaine, her mother Francine and Ned, Grant and Stephanie, Luke and Syd, Evan and Grace, Joe and Janey and even Joe’s widowed mom Caroline who after 30 years of celibacy has a hot one night stand with a much younger man. In fact I think every character in this story gets at least one sex scene of their own. A couple new characters, Jenny a lighthouse keeper with a sad history, Kara a potential new business partner for McCarthy’s Marina that attracts the attention of Dan a famous attorney who is Grant’s friend. Then there’s of course Owen and Laura. After months of dancing around their powerful attraction they finally acknowledge their feelings for each other. But they have plenty of obstacles to overcome. The least of which isn’t Laura’s bastard of a want to be ex-husband. Owen isn’t comfortable bedding Laura until she tells her husband about her pregnancy and he agrees to give her a divorce. But there’s also Laura’s fear that Owen will eventually feel the pull of his previous vagabond life and leave her and Owen’s fear that he can’t compete with the polished, educated men Laura dated and even married before they met. So there’s still plenty of Laura and Owen’s story in this one but there’s also plenty going on with the other couples.

Falling for Love

I enjoyed this book about Grant and Stephanie. You get to learn about Mac and maddie and Joe and Janey too. Also Owen and Laura and Grace and Ewan are in the supporting cast. Along with Big Mac getting hurt at the Marina. His wife Linda comes to check on Big Mac. Ned Big Mac's best friend shows up too.

Grant is an award-winning screen writer and Stephanie manages the Marina. So they work together but they get together when Grant sees his ex, Abby at the clinic and wants to make her jealous at Mac and Maddie's wedding.

Ned sees his ex-girlfriend Francine at the wedding and decides to make his move.

Hoping for Love

I enjoyed this book about Evan and Grace. You learn about all the other couples on Gansett Isjand too. Grace is from the mainland but she wants to buy Gold;s Pharmacy gor herself. Evan is spending time with his parents waiting to hear about an album that he recently recorded.

They meet and have what is supposed to be a one-night stand according to Evan. The day after Evan has the rottenest luck so he decided that he needs Grace for luck. Grace is surprised by Evan's change of heart.

Season for Love

I enjoyed this book about Owen and Laura. You lrarn abut all the other couples on Gansett Island too. Owen is a musician who travels from place to place until he meets Laura. Laura is still married to Justin but he cheated on her the first week they were married so she wants a divorce pronto.

Owen is more than attracted to Laura, but he knows he'll have to wait for her. He goes everywhere with her and takes care of her all the time. He wants to take care of her unborn child too.

The Wedding

This is a great story about Syd and Luke's wedding. They are perfect for each other and the wedding proves it.

Great Series

I have to say I found both Tiffany & Blaine, and Evan & Grace's stories to be quite entertaining and funny as heck! I found myself laughing at their antics, and the situations they found themselves in. I recommend this series to anyone who loves a good love story with laughter.

Good additions to the series

I have enjoyed this series, however, I may stop here. I have looked at some of the upcoming and I am wondering if the author isn't stretching it some. Abby with a different brother?, David staying and getting involved after what happened with Janey? Not sure that works well, even in fiction!

Good read

Strong characters . Wonderful family dynamics. Big Mac and his wife Linda are still in love. They raised their children especially the sons to become great understanding men. So far three of the four sons have returned to make the island their home again.

Falling for Love #4 – This book focuses Mac’s brother Grant and Stephanie who works at the family’s marina restaurant. Grant had come back to win his ex-girlfriend Abby back. However instead he met Stephanie and once he realizes things are really over with Abby he finds he doesn’t really mind; that he has begun to fall to Steph. Steph has secret and once Grant finds out what it is he wants to everything he can to fix it and be there for Steph.
Hoping for Love #5 – This book focuses on Evan and Grace. Grace and Evan meet after her date leaves her stuck on the island with no money or clothing. Evan comes to her rescue then she comes back to island to pay him back the money he gave her. Evan hasn’t been able to stop thinking about her since he meet her and is taken by surprise when he sees her again. Evan has never been attracted to a girl the way he is attracted to Grace. But he isn’t interested in anything serious or at least that’s what he keeps telling himself. Grace is trying to start the next portion of her life and isn’t interested in a fling. Will Evan change how he feels about commitment now that he has Grace?
Season for Love #6 - This book focuses on Owen and Laura. Laura was married just a few months ago however she quickly learned that her husband hadn’t stopped dating. She has moved to the island to recoup and discover what she wants to do next. Owen never stays in the same place for long. Everything he owns can fit in his VW van. She has always the Sand & Surf hotel and she meets Owen while standing on the porch of the Hotel during tropical storm Hailey. Owen tells his grandparents who own the place about it and they offer Laura the job to open it again. This starts the beginning of Owen and Laura’s story. They have many obstacles that could stop them but instead of stopping them the obstacles seam to make them closer. Will they be able to make it work?
This series is fantastic and so is Marie Force. This series completely pulls you in making you wish you could have the characters as real friends. It’s great that you get to read about the characters in each book. New characters are added as you go as well to keep the books coming. These books will have you laughing one minute and ready to cry the next. So much happens during the books that you just can’t help but get attached to the characters and their circumstances. I can’t say enough about this series or Marie Force. This series is a MUST READ for sure.

I am in love with this series! Each book flows into the next and the previous characters are all involved in the new books. I love the characters and their stories, and the love and sex scenes are delightful. I have never lived on an Island full time, however I have vacationed on one and I love the water, ferries, boats, and I love reading all about the McCarthys of Gansett Island. I love all the characters and do not have a favorite one so far, although I was pulling for Stephanie with Grant. I know Abby will get her story! So happy that this author was introduced to me. Have lots more of Marie Force books to read, and that is such a happy feeling!

Gansett Island boxed set 4-6 by the one and only Marie Force are three of her wonderful books from this great series. You will meet Grant and Stephanie in Falling for Love, then Evan and Grace in Hoping for Love and finally Season for Love which is Laura McCarthy and Owen Lawry's story. All three stories have family, friends and most definitely love. These are very well written stories with very well developed characters. If you love strong women and the men who fall for them these are books you will not want to miss.

I think I've said this before, "I want to move to Gansett Island and be friends with all these wonderful people." This set of books continued where the 1-3 left off. The friendships, loves and good times that these characters have on Gansett Island are fun to read and heartwarming. The men are hot, hot, hot and the women loyal to each other. I can't wait to read some more of their stories.

Island of Healing

I've started this series out of order but have downloaded the sixteen book series as I've fallen in love with the characters! These characters are so well written they come alive throughout the pages. They aren't written unrealistically as the characters struggle with every day life. Definitely can't wait to read them all~
