Once upon a time there was Beauty and there was the Beast. The spinners of tales would have you believe these two fell in love and lived happily ever after.
The spinners lied!
The Beast was a shifter and Beauty became a huntress and founded a long line of huntresses aided by the power of silver magic.
Kieran Belle is a descendant of the House of Beauty and a tracker who longs to live a life free of killing shifters. Aided by his father he escapes to college in Little Rock, Arkansas where he meets the boy of his dreams, Corwin Cooper.
Corwin Cooper is a descendant of a clan of shifters, who has never shifted himself. Having finally decided to go to college, Corwin arrives and meets the mate his inner wolf cries out to claim for his own in Kieran Belle.
Ancient prophecy says Kieran is destined to become the legendary Silver Hunter. Dark forces seek to derail prophecy and end the House of Beauty. Can a child of the shifter-hunting House of Beauty and a descendant of shifters find love and happiness or will dark forces and opposing heritage tear them apart?
Kethric Wilcox began writing and publishing as a personal challenge to be creative in a new medium. He was attracted to the LGBT Romance genre after reading several paranormal romances where it seemed like the shape-shifters never faced dangers outside the relationship issues thrown at them by their authors. Thus was born the shifter hunting House of Beauty on the premise of a twisted fairy tale. What if Beauty and the Beast didn't end with happily ever after? Wilcox's Legend of the Silver Hunter trilogy looks at this question and then asks what happens if a member of this family falls in love with a descendant of the Beast, can they find happily ever after or are they doomed to repeat the tale. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Wilcox now lives and works in Little Rock, Arkansas in a house that he and his partner renovated. By day Wilcox is a graphic artist and exhibit designer, and at night an author of paranormal romances.
This is actually a DNF. It was a good premise, a very good premise, but it needed too much work for me to be able to finish it. I'm not talking about to instead of too or instead of their. Tenses bounced all over the place, going from past to present and back again. Aside from that, how could the grandmother be so freaking stupid? She was the matriarch of the family, and yet she was willing to sacrifice her granddaughters, potential hunters, because she was pissed at the first born, who happened to be male.
I'm sorry, even a peek at the end couldn't persuade me to go back and finish this. I would strongly suggest this author get an editor, especially since he's got a series going here.

Unique perspective of an old beloved tale. A fan of fairy tales re-told, I am captivated by this new interpretation. New to me author, Mr. Wilcox lifts the best parts of the fairy tale and Buffy-izes it. Yes, for those who are Buffy fans, this story will be right up your alley. Even better? It is a m/m twist. How cool is this?
The m/m aspect is a nice change for the beauty and the beast story. Mr. Wilcox does a lovely job of creating this mythos and entwining it with star-crossed lovers. The characters in this story, Kieran Belle and Corwin Cooper are delicious and adorable. They are well developed characters with a touch of young adult hormonal drama. Fortunately, the misunderstandings are not contrived nor do they feel forced. Mr. Wilcox sets the conflicts up well, and the head on collusion between the two guys can be predicted a mile away. Still, the path to the conflict takes a few twists and turns. What is better, is the resolution of the conflicts. The resolutions are nicely crafted and sets up for the next book in the series. A lot happens in this story which does make it feel as if some pieces of information are left out. Perhaps this is intentional to hook a reader in to read the next book in the series. Consider me hooked.
What is a bit disturbing in ways is how nonchalant several characters are killed off. I understand the plot device for this, but the actual fall outs and how Kieran responds is less than I would have anticipated. It makes the deaths feel a little less real and unimportant. I am not saying that Kieran should have worn rags and thrown himself into a crying fit to railing against the gods. For a person who is so close to the characters who died, I would have thought more would have happened. I would have thought he would have acted upon it more instead of talked about it. This story would have been stronger for me if there was a bit more showing than telling of how the characters felt. This paranormal m/m romance is recommended to readers who enjoy Buffy and Supernatural with a m/m twist.

I was pleasantly surprised as to how much I enjoyed Tracker! I've never read a PNR romance before so I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting myself into. Multi colored mages, magical spells, deadly silver weapons, along with hunters and shifters combine with modern day college campus life for two young gay lovers. Kieran and Cory share a crazy life that includes the two of them worrying about finishing their final projects for the semester and heading up to Maine where Kieran can be tested to take on and destroy a pack of evil shifters! In doing so, he is insuring his rightful place as the head honcho of the House of Beauty. You know, all in a day's work!!! Colorful and vividly descriptive prose add to satisfy my mind's imagination. The story ends with the perfect set up for book two, which now I'm eagerly awaiting! The only suggestion I'd make would be to invest in a reputable editor as there were some sporadic grammatical errors. With that being said, I still wouldn't downgrade my rating because this book was such a mystical and magical delight. I truly feel that this story has all the makings of becoming an enchanting and well loved series! Nice job by new author Kethric Wilcox!!!! ***********************************************BOOK UPDATE************************************************************** I just have to commend Kethric Wilcox for doing the right thing and having this book edited!!!!! WHAT A DIFFERENCE! If anyone has had any doubts about reading Tracker because of grammatical errors mentioned in previous reviews, don't even give it a thought! This new and improved version is FABULOUS!!!!!! The second book in the series, WITCH, is perfectly written as well!!! Get those fingers one-clickin! You'll be happy that you did!
Very unique story by new author Kethric Wilcox! This is Beauty and the Beast meets Romeo and Juliet only with quite a twist to it. Kieran and Cory are supposed to be sworn enemies but their love for one another is too strong to fight. Both are torn between family traditions & duty. Will they overcome the hurdles that are in their way and be able to love one another? I'll leave that to you to read. I can't wait to read book 2!
I've gotten a lot pickier about books I spend my time on since there are so many good books out there nowadays. The premise of this one drew me in, but the desperate need for an editor pulled me right back out. Bad grammar, tense shifts, and a jerking narrative could all be fixed with a good beta reader. I still love the idea and would like to read this after it's been through the hands of said beta reader!
This is story was full of twists and action.. great adventures. and the the sweet love story between Kieran and Cory. I look forward to read more of this series. i received this story from Reading Alley for a honest review.
I love reading twists on fairy tales, but it can be hard to find books that are well written and draw me in to the story. This book was great at both. The fairy tale gives a history to the characters, but doesn't overshadow the story between Kieran and Cory.
I loved Kieran. He is someone who knows what he needs to do and actually works to meet his goals. He has a respect for his family, even though he needs to forge his own path.
I'm hoping Cory grows a bit in the next couple of books. I found him a bit too naive in this story (especially since he is supposed to be the older of the two). He seems really too trusting, even when he has evidence that he shouldn't trust someone.
I did find a few times that I thought I had missed a part of the story due to the time jump, but most of the story reads pretty smooth. I'm also hoping there is a bit more description on the types of magic in the next book (there is a bit of an introduction, but I feel like I'm still missing a key piece).
I received a copy of this book from the author through Reading Alley in exchange for a review.
This tale has potential but I just didn't really get into it. Maybe the author is trying to cram too many separate themes into a novella. Beauty and the beast - werewolves - various types of magics - college - graphic design - photography - young gay men finding relationships - hunting werewolves - idiots who don't like aforementioned gay men - a police officer who sees a decapitated wolf on the floor which then bursts into flames and vanishes from the room, and who calmly says nobody would believe this so he'll agree a wolf got in and ran off.
I am sure anyone who adores urban fantasy, or who is a gay guy, might find this a lot more fun than I did. The author has clearly worked hard at plotting, and developing his magic background.
Warning that the book contains strong language, adult scenes, violence, discussion of sexual assault. I downloaded an ARC from Instafreebie. This is an unbiased review.
I really enjoyed this story. I usually blow through a number of stories a day, unless they're exceptionally long or full of trivial details. I took my time and enjoyed it thoroughly.
It was an interesting retelling of an old fairy tale, brought through the ages to modern times. I really liked the dynamics of the families and societies that were shown. The magic and creation stories were unique but not unheard of, there were elements that people could easily relate to.
Books 1-3 I found book 1 interesting as (yet another – note that retelling ‘fairy’ stories or myths is very popular at the moment) take on a favourite story – Beauty and the Beast. In particular, this book is intended to appeal to the LGBT audience as the heroes – ie the main protagonist and all his allies – are all gay. All accepted as such also by their communities and families and thus secure in their sexuality. Additionally, as the hero is 18 at the start of the trilogy, a YA audience might be expected. I enjoyed the first book with its fantasy elements well woven into the storyline. The Irish connection becomes clearer implicitly if not explicitly in the 2nd book in the series. Though it is never explained nor rationalised. I gave book 1 4 stars and thus proceeded to purchase books 2 and 3 in hope and as I was intrigued to know how the the story might end. But as is so often the case I was disappointed. All the originality went into book 1 and the follow-ons were struggling to fill their pages. By book 3 the writing and story seemed laboured and the author seemed unsure how to end it. So my score was under 3 for book 3. Some pointers towards the Gaelic names: The name Aodhfin is a male name. The meaning of the name Aodhfin is: Variant of Aodh: Fire; fiery; white fire. OISÍN. Masculine. Means "little deer", derived from Irish os "deer" combined with a diminutive suffix. In Irish legend Oisín was a warrior hero and a poet, the son of Fionn mac Cumhail. The giant Fionn MacCumhaill was the leader of the ancient Fianna warriors in Ireland. The meaning of Liadain is "grey lady".
I think the rest of this story will rate higher Normally I would start my review by giving my version of the blurb, but I don't think I could give it better then the blurb. But I'll give it a go. It's a very modern twist on beauty and the beast. Kieren is a tracker. Trackers hunt for the huntress, who hunts shifters. Cory comes from a family of shifters, but isn't one (sort of). They meet at college and are renting in the same house. It takes a while for the romance to start, but I was drawn into the story. It's a complicated story, but well written for you to follow along. I wish there was more to the romance then everything else, but maybe cause it is too complicated the author has to concentrate on that over the boys' romance? We meet lots of side characters but so far I've been able to keep up its them, we'll see if that continues with the next parts. It's probably the biggest drawback for me. The boys get a HFN but none of the story is finished. And as the book is more story based then romance based I feel cheated of a whole story. It has some of the best editing I've read in a while, but I feel it drags on. I'm one of those people who needs to read the end, so I'll probably read the rest of the series, but I would only recommend this for people who like more plot then romance in their books. A copy was provided to me by the ReadingAlley in exchange for an honest and unbias review.
Wow, this was an awesome start to what looks to be an outstanding epic fantasy romance. Kieran, of the bloodline of Beauty, and Cory, of the bloodline of Beast, are fated true mates. This is a problem that they will have to fight and suffer through. Their families are causing big problems especially since they have been warring each other for eons. At first thought, it seemed to be a new twist on Beauty & The Beast, but when you really look this seems more of a Romeo and Juliette story.I really loved the action and the battles against evil minions, evil relatives and the expectations of family traditions. I really enjoyed the twists about Beauty and the way her family story has changed through time. Loved it! As much as I loved this story, gave it a 4-star rating in spite of the serious deficit in editing. I hope when the next book in this series comes out that editing issue will be rectified. Although I'll probably read it anyway and flinch. This is my first read of Kethric Wilcox but will be looking for more from this talented story-teller.
The tail was engaging, the characters well developed and the action paced in a fast and steady flow that kept me engaged as I read.
Any messing around with classic romances like Beauty and the Beast have to be done carefully, and the author does that in this imaginative tale full of adventure and suspense. There were a few points I'd make to the author, but I enjoyed reading this book.
This was a great book and a fun twist on the beauty and the beast story. Kieran and Cory's love story is sweet. Now for the bad stuff, there are a lot of typos and grammar problems. If you can get past them, it's a fun story.
