I started my debut novel "The Jameson Cabin" when I was 22 and having a full-time job it took me four years to write and have my novel edited. What you're reading is the work of my dark thoughts and growing up in small town with nothing to do but drive aimlessly around.
I am a huge fan of horror/suspense novels and films. My favorites include "The Shining" by Stephen King and "American Psycho" by Bret Easton Ellis. Recently my favorite read was "The Troop" by Nick Cutter.

Some psychological thrillers entertain you. Me&Her completely consumes you.
From the very beginning, I was hooked by Reagan’s voice and the mystery surrounding Mia’s disappearance. Their friendship felt obsessive, toxic, emotionally messy, and painfully codependent in a way that made every chapter impossible to look away from.
What makes this book work so well is the atmosphere of paranoia Kaelin Wennerberg creates. Every interaction feels loaded with tension, manipulation, or hidden motives. I trusted absolutely nobody, and every time I thought I had the story figured out, another twist proved me wrong.
Reagan was such an interesting protagonist because she feels genuinely flawed and human. She’s damaged, secretive, emotional, and constantly battling the past she tried to leave behind. Returning to Devil’s Paradise forces her to confront everything connected to Mia, and the deeper the story goes, the darker and more unsettling it becomes.
Even while missing, Mia’s presence dominates the entire book. The “me and her against the world” dynamic between them gave the story so much emotional weight, making their relationship one of the most fascinating aspects of the novel for me.
The pacing was addictive. Short chapters, constant tension, shocking reveals, and emotionally charged moments made this impossible to put down. I kept saying “one more chapter” and ended up flying through the book because I needed answers.
What I loved most was that the psychological tension came from the characters themselves. Their obsession, jealousy, secrets, and shifting power dynamics felt far more disturbing than cheap shock value twists.
And that ending? Wild. It genuinely left me sitting there thinking about everything that had happened.
If you love psychological thrillers with toxic friendships, unreliable characters, small-town secrets, emotional mind games, and twists that keep you questioning everything, Me&Her by Kaelin Wennerberg absolutely deserves the hype.

The book was very interesting—lots of twists and turns. So many little predicaments and wasn’t sure how they were going to be resolved. Author did a great job of keeping you guessing. This would have been a four or five star book except for the ending. The ending, quite frankly, felt like a slap in the face. It was a cheap shot and was insulting/disrespectful to the readers’ time and effort in reading her story, in my opinion. This author is talented and there was NO reason to end the book like that. I will be very hesitant to read this author again as I can’t trust her not to play this trick again.

I have to be honest with you when this one landed on my radar as part of Zooloo's Book Tours, I was already sold before I'd even turned the first page. A small town with a serial killer, someone going missing every single year, and a protagonist who has completely reinvented herself? That is exactly my kind of read. Curl up on the sofa with a blanket and a strong cup of tea kind of read. And I am so glad I said yes to this one.
Devil's Paradise is the sort of small town that sounds idyllic until you scratch the surface, and Wennerberg does a brilliant job of building that uneasy, suffocating atmosphere. You know the feeling, the kind of place where everyone knows everyone, and that's not always a comfort. Our protagonist Charlie or Reagan, as we come to learn fled this town the moment she could, leaving behind not just her address but her entire identity. New name, new appearance, new life. She has worked so hard to become someone else entirely, and you really feel the weight of that sacrifice.
But then Mia goes missing. And just like that, everything Charlie has built for herself is at risk.
The friendship at the heart of this story is what really got me. That bone-deep, us-against-the-world bond that only your very best friend can give you I think most of us have had at least one relationship like that in our lives, and Wennerberg captures it beautifully. Charlie and Mia's dynamic pulled me right in, and I found myself genuinely desperate for things to work out.
The tension throughout is wonderfully done. Knowing that Charlie is hiding who she really is while trying to find her missing best friend in the very town that drove her away it's a pressure cooker of a plot and I was racing through chapters.
And that ending! I genuinely did not see it coming. The twist surrounding Mia had my jaw on the floor. I won't say a single word more about it, but just know you'll want to set aside a free afternoon for the final act.
A gripping, atmospheric thriller with real heart at its centre. Highly recommended.

This book literally made me sit there afterwards thinking, “What on earth did I just read?!” Nothing could have prepared me for how dark and twisted this psychological thriller would be. Think The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley… but darker, grittier and even more unsettling.
The story is split into two parts, which worked really well for me. Part One focuses on the present day, with Reagan/Charlie returning to her hometown after discovering her best friend Mia is missing. Then Part Two takes us back a few years, slowly unraveling what really happened through a series of twists, reveals and increasingly tense moments before crashing back into the present-day storyline for a dramatic finale.
I had mixed feelings about Reagan/Charlie as a protagonist. Initially, I really sympathised with her because of her past as one of the bullied, unpopular girls at school. But at times I found her quite naïve and emotionally immature, and the constant internal questioning occasionally became repetitive for me personally. I understand this was likely done to immerse the reader in her mindset and paranoia, but I did feel some of those thoughts were already naturally forming in my own head as I read.
That said, Part Two was where this book truly came alive for me. The pacing sharpens, the tension ramps up and the twists start coming from every direction. It’s definitely darker than my usual reads, but once I reached that point I could not put it down.
Did I predict some of the reveals? Yes. But definitely not all of them and the twists I didn’t see coming hit hard enough to leave me completely blindsided, which is exactly what I want from a thriller.
By the end, I honestly just needed to sit quietly and stare at a wall for a while to process everything. A dark, addictive and seriously twisty thriller that thriller lovers will absolutely devour.

But those final reveals? Wow. I did not see them coming. I love it when a book waits until the last second to knock my theories out cold.

The twists were honestly wild, and some of them caught me completely off guard. I kept changing my mind about who to trust, which made the suspense even better. The cult angle made the story even darker and gave it such an unsettling vibe.
I will say some parts felt a little over the top for me, and some scenes were okay okay, but overall it was such an addictive thriller and hard to put down. Dark, twisted, unsettling, and full of secrets.

This book was an interesting read. The story follows Reagan, who returns to her hometown after two years because her best friend Mia has gone missing. Reagan has completely changed her identity and appearance since leaving, and now she has to find Mia while keeping her own past a secret. As she starts looking for answers, she gets pulled back into a world she desperately wanted to leave behind.
I really liked the friendship between Reagan and Mia and the way their connection is at the heart of the story. There is also a good amount of mystery and suspense, which kept me interested and made me want to find out what had happened to Mia.
That said, the book did feel quite young at times. Some of the characters and situations had a slightly juvenile feel to them, which is probably my main criticism. However, I still found myself enjoying the story despite that. It was an easy and entertaining read, and I liked the combination of friendship, secrets, danger and romance.
I think it's very well written and de caracter development is great.
Overall, Me & Her was not exactly what I expected, but I had a good time reading it. The story kept me engaged and I would still recommend it to readers who enjoy fast paced books with mystery, romance and a darker small town atmosphere.

That said, the book did feel quite young at times. Some of the characters and situations had a slightly juvenile feel to them, which is probably my main criticism. However, I still found myself enjoying the story despite that. It was an easy and entertaining read, and I liked the combination of friendship, secrets, danger and romance.

I love a dual timeline and the one set in Charlie’s current life, as she searches for her missing estranged friend Mia, alternating with her past as Reagan before she transformed herself, worked well for this plot. And the plot worked nicely once it started moving more quickly. The set up took a while and I know that’s not everyone’s preference, but I think it was needed for the later elements of the story.
I didn’t like Charlie but that’s not a bad thing, as it means the author has evoked emotion within me. It was her behaviour around the men in her life in particular I think as she came across as quite immature and self-centred at times.
I had to reflect on my reactions to Charlie’s repeated reference to her “old” looks and body at school, when she was Reagan, and how she’s transformed herself physically, which often came across as a bit vain to me. However I wondered whether I would want to change anything about myself before returning to where I grew up (just hair straighteners for me!).
The twists in the second half especially sped the plot up and shone a light on how much we can really trust a narrator.
I would recommend this book to fans of Grady Hendrix and Frieda McFadden and giving this ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I wasn't really convinced by this book in the first half, but it got much more interesting once part II got underway.
As a big fan of true crime podcasts, it was a nice touch for this element to be incorporated into the story and it gave it something different from other thrillers that I have read.
I was very conflicted over main character Reagen/Charlie. As much as I wanted to like her and feel some sort of affinity towards her, she just made two many bad decisions and ignored too many red flags for me to feel able to root for her.
I had mixed feelings about her love interest (or one of them at least) Konrad. Like for Reagan, it was tempting to trust him but there were also a lot of doubts around his motives and intentions.

Wennerberg’s Woman Missing was one of my favorite books last year, so when I saw they had a new book, I couldn’t wait to read it! Wennerberg does such a great job at building tension and suspense in her books. Though at times, it did feel a little repetitive, overall, I couldn’t stop reading because I wanted to know what was going to happen!
I loved Charlie as the FMC. While her reinvention of herself was only a smaller part of the story, due to the way that she was treated in the past due to her weight was something I could connect with. Though, she did make some questionable choices before and after her reinvention that I didn’t connect with – IYKYK! (No spoilers here!)
With the amount of action in this book, and the many ways this story could have gone, I do think this book is perfect for a movie! Speaking of ways that the book could have gone.. let me tell you, I was SO shocked. I don’t know if others would be able to figure it out, but I certainly didn’t and that’s what I love about thriller books. Authors have such twisted minds sometime and I LOVE it!

I loved Charlie as the FMC. While her reinvention of herself was only a smaller part of the story, due to the way that she was treated in the past due to her weight was something I could connect with. Though, she did make some questionable choices before and after her reinvention that I didn’t connect with – IYKYK! (No spoilers here!)
With the amount of action in this book, and the many ways this story could have gone, I do think this book is perfect for a movie! Speaking of ways that the book could have gone.. let me tell you, I was SO shocked. Me & Her is a dark and emotionally charged suspense novel exploring friendship, identity and the secrets we try to leave behind.
The premise immediately pulled me in, with Reagan returning to the town she once escaped after her best friend Mia disappears under worrying circumstances.
Kaelin Wennerberg’s writing has a very introspective and reflective style, keeping the focus firmly on the emotional tension, past trauma and complicated bond between the two friends. As the mystery unfolds, the story gradually reveals more about Reagan’s past and the lingering hold Devil’s Paradise still has over her.
While this was a little outside my usual reading comfort zone stylistically, I still found the central concept compelling and appreciated the darker psychological themes running throughout the novel.
A good choice for readers who enjoy slow-burn, character-driven suspense with an atmospheric edge.

I was fully hooked in this book with Charlie coming back to her home town due to her best friend having gone missing. Without wanting to and had no intentions to, she felt something for someone.
I felt that there were a lot of cliff hangers that kept me going. However, when it got to the full twist I wasn’t so keen, the romance side of it kept me going until then.

Suddenly Mia had gone missing from her home town. A lot of girls had been disappearing with no explanation throughout the years. She went back to investigate and got her self into things she would never had imagined.

I always try not to DNF a book, and I nearly did not finish this one.
It has to be one of the worst books I have read this year.
1) Too long. It could have been shortened by at least half.
2) The plot. Very thin plot, no substance at all.
3) The odious characters. There are none that have any redeeming qualities. Why not have a 'good guy'? Just one?
4) The author. Is English her first language? There are words used that are totally wrong for the situation.
The entire book needs a hard edit.

Me & Her follows Charlie/Reagan who returns to the town she grew up in following the disappearance of her best friend Mia. The deeper she digs, the more sinister things become.
The premise really interested me and I think it’s well written. It’s a tense, atmospheric thriller that will keep you turning the page. Plus there’s cult vibes 👀
Something I really enjoyed about it is the fact there is some mixed media. We get letters and even a podcast!
I feel like I knew where it was going throughout but I will say there was a twist that I was absolutely not expecting towards the end.
There were parts that felt unrealistic and over the top but it was a good read and I know people will love it.
If you have any content triggers, I advise you to read any trigger warnings beforehand.
I recommend this to anyone who likes a book with a small town setting and cult vibes.

Me & Her by Kaelin Wennerberg was an unputdownable psychological thriller with a killer twist at the end. I am so glad this book cover caught my eye especially as Kaelin Wennerberg is a new author to me. I am so glad I had chance to read and review her latest book. It was an excellent read and so addictive especially as it was a good balance between mystery and suspense, then the friendship between Reagan/Charlie and Mia, was a hard one and very cleverly put together which I loved a dark friendship. Superb read!

I loved this book!
I was hooked right from the start. Sooooo many twists and turns – I couldn’t stop reading. Could the story have been a bit shortened? Yes, I guess so, but I still would recommend it to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers, secret societies and a brilliant ending. The end killed me! It had me laughing and raging – genius!

It Kept Me Guessing
Bullied and teased all through her life, as soon as she had completed her education, Reagan left town, changing her appearance, lifestyle and name, swearing never to return. Then out of the blue she received a letter from the one friend she had, and has now disappeared, so Reagan, now known as Charlie, knows she has to return and try and find her. With strange things happening in the town Charlie does not know who she can trust and puts her own life in danger. A good read which kept me guessing all the way through.

I really did enjoy this book. I loved the cover and blurb of this book. I got into this book straight away. wow. There was some jaw dropping moments. I certainly didn't see that coming. The way it ended. Please tell me there is more to come. I definitely recommend this book.

A well written page turner, it’s full of suspense and tension with lots of twists and turns. I loved the drip fed feel of learning more and more as the book progressed, yes a psychological thriller at its heart but actually there was so many other elements to this read too.
My second read by this author and I loved this read too.

I thought I knew what I was getting into with this book: a light mystery with a missing friend and some intrigue. I was happily reading until mid-book....screech - a plot twist so big the earth shook. You absolutely will not see what is coming! And from there, the momentum builds until the shocking ending. Amazing!

Kind of disappointed. Editing was very bad. Beginning and probably up to the middle it was very interesting. I do love a missing persons tale. However, when you find out what is really going on…it is plain stupid. Seriously, what kind of people actually think like these characters. So many things just weren’t thought out.

Wow! What a great book! I will say it took a little time for me to become hooked but once I was, I could not put it down! The ending was just so so good. I don't want to give anything away so I'm going to just say how much I enjoyed the book, how well written it was, and how once the slow start was over that i couldn't put it down!

Too long and hard to finish
I had to make myself finish it. It could have been told in a few chapters. To top it all off, it ends with unanswered questions. I did not enjoy this book.

DNF 71%. I considered stopping at 51% at the big "why the serial killings are happening" reveal because it was so out there and I regret continuing. It started out mysterious enough but just went downhill after a while.
