Harley Jameson is not your typical woman. She’s a rough and tumble, beer drinking, hockey loving, smart mouthed, kind of woman. In fact, she owns her own contracting company. Most men just treat her as one of the guys; that is, until she meets her newest client…

Nolan Hammerstein is most definitely not a guy’s guy. He’s rich, spoiled, well dressed, and oh yeah - rich. His father owns the NHL’s Boston Bruisers, and he’s worked for his father since graduating from Harvard. Needless to say, he lives the life of luxury. When he purchases a new home, Nolan calls Jameson Contractors to schedule a consult with a man that he thinks is the owner…

Harley and Nolan’s first meeting does not go well, so you can imagine her surprise when he actually hires her to renovate his house. While snarky comments and arguments are simmering on the surface, sexual attraction and tension are brewing underneath. But will Nolan’s uptight father and a handsy hockey player get in between their already volatile relationship? Or will they learn to accept each other’s differences and bond tighter because of them?

Note: This book is a standalone with a HEA. For mature audiences only, as there are hot, steamy, and explicit sex scenes throughout the book.

Andria Large is a traditionally published and self-published contemporary romance author. She doesn’t always follow the rules, so you will find both M/F and M/M books mixed into some of her series.

Henry from the Beck Brothers Series was the first book she self-published. Not expecting anything to really come of it, she was shocked to find the book caught wind and readers were asking for more. Writing books was not something she had set out to do. She wrote stories for herself, as a hobby. Now that it has become her career, she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Andria grew up in Philadelphia, but now lives in New Jersey with her two daughters and wonderfully supportive husband, who frequently accompanies her at signings. The events that she attends every year are one of her favorite things about being an author. She loves meeting and conversing with her readers, but also enjoys finding new ones.

Andria considers herself open and friendly, so feel free to send her a message if you have a question or just want to chat.

This was a nice little surprise. Quick, entertaining read.

"Do you call all your clients 'dicks'?" He snarls. "Only when they're being one."

His father was a fucking judgemental asshole. Only caring about social status. Prick.

He's got a nice back. And a nice ass. Shame it's wasted on such an asshole.

I loved Harley. A girl after my own heart.

4 MC Hammer stars

This was such a fun, entertaining read! If you're looking for a lighthearted, non-angsty, feel-good, short book this is it!

description

Harley Jameson is a bit of a tomboy, loudmouthed, tough as nails and sweet on the inside. She also has her own construction company. I have to say I liked Harley much better in the second half of the book. During the first part she was a tad juvenile. She treated Nolan almost like her brothers, needling him and teasing him. Some of it was meant to poke fun at him being a bit uptight and snobbish but others just came across as unprofessional.

“I bet you swing a hammer like a girl.” She snickers.
Then she goes on to show me what I would most likely look like swinging a hammer, all the while making little girly noises.

“You can’t touch this!” I exclaim and start doing the MC Hammer dance back and forth in the threshold while singing, “Oh oh oh oh, Hammer Time!”
I cross my legs and spin before breaking out my running man. I move onto the sprinkler then the cabbage patch all while rapping MC Hammer’s You Can’t Touch This. Going by the lovely shade of red that Nolan is turning, I’m pretty sure he’s about to blow a gasket."

description

Nolan Hammerstein is what you would call a metrosexual(for lack of a better word), he dresses well, does his nails, drives expensive cars and has some prejudiced views from his father which Harley proceeds to blow out of the water. To give credit to Nolan he quickly gets over the fact she owns a construction company and respects her opinions as a professional. Things exploded quickly between them and I would have loved to read a bit more of them getting along without the teasing. Nolan was more conflicted about his feelings for her mostly because of his father but he definitely grows up especially when he sees the differences between Harleys father and his own.

"Can I handle him not liking a girl that I clearly have feelings for? It will always be a struggle to please both of them and I’d constantly be caught in the middle. Sh*t, f*ck, sh*t!"

Their coming together was sweet. Nolan getting over his issues and Harley toning down the defensiveness and silly shenanigans. They made each other better. This wasn't a very deep book, if you're looking for that look elsewhere. But if you want something light that will make you smile and laugh and want to read more this is it! Will I read more of this author? You bet! Looking at her books right now! I would have also loved to read about the rest of the Jameson clan if this ever turns into a series.

I loved this book. It is funny and a pleasure to read. There is no dumb misunderstanding toward the end of the book that causes drama. Also, the author didn't have every waitress, hostess, salesgirl, or barista trying to seduce the H. I hate when authors do that. This was a realistic story with a wonderful H and a fabulous h. Nolan was a great guy and he was wonderful to Harley. Harley is one of my favorite heroines- she is smart, strong, brave, sweet and loving. I loved her dad and her brothers. This book also has a great epilogue.

Cute romantic comedy

This made for an easy read. Typical "opposites attract" romance. I liked the characters and how the gender roles seemed to be reversed. This was just a simple, light read. It was sweet, and humorous. Not a lot of angst or unnecessary drama. It has an easily predictable plot, but if you are looking for a quick, but sweet story this one will do the trick. It would make a great beach read etc.

A short and sweet read. It's about Nolan who ends up hiring Harley to renovate his new house and is pretty shocked to find out that Harley is actually a woman. I throughly enjoyed Harley. She was a ball-busting, take-no-shits kinda woman and pretty funny as well. I loved watching her push Nolan's buttons in the beginning. It took me a while to warm up to Nolan because he was all hating on my girl in the beginning and he has also been under his father's "women belong in the kitchen" mentality but he quickly saw and appreciated all that Harley does. His character development from a spoiled rich boy to a thoughtful, caring man was great!

I started off liking this one. Then quickly found myself skimming. That lead to another DNF for me:(
Moving on after 60%.
Harley was so unprofessional and juvenile acting that I couldn't believe she had her own company. Hopefully it was just Nolan she treated that way. lol She defiantly acted like a guy. One I wouldn't want to date. lol

STOP! HAMMERTIME!

This book was fun and cute! Seriously, freaking adorable!

Nolan Hammerstein is well on his way to becoming an uptight, sexist chip off the ol' block. His father is the owner of the Boston Brewers Hockey team and is a widower with some pretty firm and antiquated views on a woman's place in a man's world, and when the story opens, Nolan seems like he's not far off from being the same type of guy.

Enter Harley: Business owner, construction worker, beer-drinker and full-fledged potty-mouth. She's hired to renovate Nolan's house from top to bottom and she completely turns his world around--much to his father's disapproval.

Okay, so this story has lots of light-hearted fun and steam--it's not serious or angst-filled or even possessing much in the way of conflict. But it's unique to me in that we have MC's that aren't really conforming to the norm of romance characters. Nolan isn't quite an Alpha. He's learning about some manly stuff (like putting up sheet rock) from Harley, and he doesn't piss circles around her when other men get ideas.

Harley doesn't come like a porn star at the drop of a hat (she's normal), she burps and cusses and holds her own in a male-driven career and she cannot walk in heels for shit.

She loves to tease him about his last name and MC Hammer becomes one of their jokes. Though at first he's really not amused.
I move onto the Sprinkler then the Cabbage Patch all while rapping MC Hammer's You Can't Touch This. Going by the lovely shade of red that Nolan is turning, I'm pretty sure he's about to blow a gasket. I finish things up with a little Mary Catherine Gallagher from Saturday Night Live.

"Superstar!" I breathe, wiggling my fingers in his face.

"Are you finished?" he grits out.

I straighten up. "Yes, I am. Hey, you have a wicked vein popping out of your forehead. Might want to get that checked."

LOLcat

This story is just pure, light fun. 4 stars!

Nolan Hammerstein is in the market for a contractor to renovate his new house. Harley Jameson runs her own contractor business. Sounds like a perfect match until you meet Nolan and Harley…or Nolan and Harley meet each other.

They are complete opposites in the reverse gender stereotype roles. Harley is a tomboy raised by her dad and three brothers. Nolan is used to the good life, raised by his rich, old-fashioned misogynist father. While Harley loves the hockey team Nolan’s father owns, there isn’t love at first sight when Harley and Nolan initially interact.

“‘Do you call all your clients ‘dick?’”
“‘Only when they’re being one.’”
“‘With the way you act, I’m surprised you even know what a dick is.’”

Despite their lack of professional maturity, the pair surprisingly comes to have a relationship with a great deal of maturity. This isn’t a story filled with unnecessary misunderstandings or knee-jerk reactions. I really liked that about their romance; it’s something you don’t see nearly often enough.

“‘You know, it was kinda hot, you getting all defensive of me. I may’ve even gotten a semi from it.’”

As the title suggests, there’s plenty of….um….hammering and nailing to keep it sexy as the seemingly mismatched pair drive each other “up a wall.”

It’s a light-hearted romance with just the right amount of conflict. While the alternating first person POV narration could benefit from a little variety in sentience structure (there’s a lot of consecutive sentences that start “I….”), the story is still fun and an enjoyable read. And while there were a few places that Harley was a little over the top, I still appreciated how she was depicted as a confident, independent female. (There’s no insecure, crying, weak girl here).

There’s a great epilogue (I really liked the end). This is a standalone story, but I definitely see potential for a series as Harley’s brothers would be fun to read about too!

ARC Copy provided by the author for a fair and honest review....

***************** WARNING - SPOILER ALERT******************************

I first met and read my first book written by Andria in May 2013 and that book was Henry... and to this day it still remains one of my favourite books...

This book however I found absolutely hysterical.... the banter between rich Nolan and ballsy Harley is so funny..... I was literally laughing out loud....

It's a beautiful story that is well written..... it follows Nolan and Harley from when they first meet and literally hate each other.... he is expecting the person who runs Jameson Contractors who is named Harley to be a guy and thinks that when a female turns up that he they are trying to trick him.... Although both are very attracted to each other when they first meet Harley find Nolan to be very stuck up and isn't afraid to tell him exactly what she thinks of him..... she leaves after giving a quote to renovate his full older style house that he has just bought thinking there is no way in hell that they are going to get this $150,000 - $200,000. That would be massive her her small construction firm.....

She get's the job and that's where the book gets real funny.....

We follow through their lives of rebuilding the house, where problems occur along the way...... Nolan show's his jealousy when he takes Harley and her father and 3 brothers to a Hockey game.... the 5 of them are massive fans, but Nolan couldn't really care less, his father owns the club.... Harley get's to meet her idol and he makes a play for her..... until he say's something about Nolan that she doesn't like and Harley literally punches him in the balls....

This is a stand alone book and does have a HEA...... I absolutely loved it and would definitely recommend it for a read....... Congrat's again Andria on another fantastic read.......

Nolan Hammerstein bought a house that is requiring a lot of work and when he is referred to Harley Jameson he is expecting to meet a male contractor. However what he gets is a foul mouthed, straight to the point, stunning woman. As much as he does not want to hire Harley she is the best male, well female for the job.

Harley sees Nolan as a stuck up son of the owner of her favorite NHL team. She loves gettng under his skin, but when one second they are bickering the next they are embraced in a sizzling kiss, everything gets turned around. Harley is not what you would call insecure but as Nolan's father makes it clear, Harley is not the right type of woman for his son. Everything changes. Nolan doesn't plan on letting Harley go.

This was an unexpected surprise, had some really funny moments that had me chuckling out loud. I liked this couple a lot, they are opposites but Harley has a way of pushing Nolan to see outside his bubble that he surrounded himself with because of his father. Look forward to reading more by this author.

Sweet and funny romance 3.5 stars.

Nolan Hammerstein's new house needs renovating his friend Brock recommends Jameson Contractors and so he gives them a call and sets up a meet with the owner Harley Jameson.
Now Nolan is not expecting a woman and certainly not a woman like Harley, she annoys and confuses him, he doesn't even like her yet finds himself inexplicably attracted to her.
Harley is a fabulous character, she's one of the guys and not like anyone Nolan has ever met before but they rub each other the wrong way. While I adored her I have to admit the belching made me cringe, that was just too much for me but apart from that she was great.
If you're looking for a nice little romantic read then this could be just what you're looking for, it's sweet with some wonderful characters and it's funny as well, what more could you ask for.

I can swear like a sailor and be as crude as the next but only ever around peeps I know well enough to know it's all in jest.
Harley and Nolan's story didn't have any character build up for me. Sorry but woman or man in any kind of business you don't talk to a client like that hence this went down hill fast. I did skim to 70% and the power tool accident topped it off....OMG, no, just no! Not for me.
I did like Nolan, he came across best out of all so far

I really like this book. I love how you can see Nolan changing throughout the book from being a pompous prick to being a more down-to-earth type of guy. The only thing that I didn't really like was that . I guess this did make the book a little more realistic.

This is certainly another winner for me from Andria!
We are introduced to the sassy Harley. She is a "tough as nails" sexy, smart woman. She is certainly not afraid to speak her mind or get her hands dirty. She is making her mark in a man's world. She is the proprietor of an up and coming contracting business. She has made it her mission to put her heart, blood, sweat and passion into her work and that is what is making her hot on the market. She has no time for romance and certainly would have know if she stumbled over Prince Charming in her journey! In her mind who wants a woman who acts like a man. She has always been treated as one of the boys. She is surrounded by caring and loving men who would do anything for her including protect her from the love'um and leave'um men of the world.
Nolan is from a wealthy family but money doesn't always go hand in hand with love. He has never felt the caring and compassion that you would expect from a family. His mother passed when he was 10 and left an uncaring, shell of a man to care for him. Nolan never wanted for anything except the most important things....love, respect and a feeling of being wanted.
When these to hard headed individuals meet it is a push and pull from the start! Their witty banter and wonderful one liners will have you laughing out loud! They appear to ....shall we say really get under each other's skin! They may need to work this out in between the sheets. They certainly have a lot of frustration to expel! Well you know that their is a fine line between love and hate. They challenge each other at every turn. They are hysterical! I loved the supporting characters. Harley's brothers and dad were quite entertaining themselves! I am hoping we may....hint ....hint get to see more of them in the future!
I was gifted this book for an honest review!

Although I know this author personally, as an author myself, I write only honest reviews...and I have to say that Andria Large "Nailed it" with Hammer and Nails! This was such a fun read! Harley, the heroine of the story, is unforgivably crass, foul-mouthed, and down right hilarious. But she has a heart of gold. The banter between Nolan, the uptight businessman who reluctantly hires her for a remodel on his house, is absolutely priceless. The way their relationship develops through the story is touching--but filled with so much humor in between. I felt close to the characters. I feel that by having the characters tell the story, Andria painted a better picture for me...and made me personally care about them. Unlike some novels, it didn't feel all "storybook romance". I felt that it was true to life, warm, and humorous. They face several obstacles--including the damaged relationship between Nolan and his father. What I like is that Andria doesn't try to fix the whole world...it's a snap shot into their lives and the right people in the story support Nolan & Harley. The pacing is spot on. I didn't feel like I was left to wonder anything, nor did it ever feel the story lagged on. It was packed full of just the right stuff. This is a great read if you need to lift your spirits. It made me smile and truly laugh out loud several times. Thank you, Andria, for sharing this heartwarming story. I'm so honored to have had the chance to read this one!

ARC provided by author in exchange for honest review.

I'm a HUGE Andria Large fan. The Beck Brothers, Taboo series, Renegade series, War trilogy...all some of my favourite books. Her knack for natural witty dialogue always floors me. I can now add Hammer and Nails to my "loved" books.

This is a funny, low angst romance that is like a sweet little nugget of fun. In her previous books, I have found the men to be the one's slinging the barbs. That's not to say the women aren't able to go toe to toe with their men, but the men tend to lead the charge. H&N is different in that Harley is the force to be reckoned with. She very much reminded me of the strong female characters written by Terri Anne Browning and RL Mathewson (both of whom I LOVE). As fun as it is to see the white knight come in to save the day, it's just as fun to see the damsel telling someone to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Harley has three unattached brothers...I'm crossing my fingers that their stories will continue, as I haven't gotten enough of the Jameson clan yet!

Harley is quick witted and funny. She owns her own construction company. She does home renovations. Harley and Nolan meet and then THEY'RE OFF! (say it like it's a horse race). Sparks fly immediately. Yeah, they're attracted to each other from the start. Nolan is the only son of a wealthy businessman/Ice Hockey team owner.
This is a cute, quick read. I love how their relationship builds and they are honest with each other. Nolan's dad is a snob. He doesn't like Harley for his son. He's not a likable character & a little one demensional. I didn't like it when Harley and Nolan get angry with him & cuss at Nolan's dad. That was low, in my opinion. Could they have tried to sit down and talk to him? Yes. I'm not saying that his dad would have come around, but they could have made the effort. I couldn't have cut off my only parent like that.
3.75-4 stars. I enjoyed this book.

DNF at 44%. I never DNF a book, but I cannot identify with either MC. So far I do not like them. They do not do anything bad or offensive, but they are not characters I care to read about. I like the women to be women and men to be men. So far, neither is very true. I don't mind different or women in traditionally male roles, but Harley is immature, over the top and relishes acting crude, rude and like a 16 year old boy. I just cannot find anything attractive about her. Nolan get manicures (sorry - I am judgey), slept with her and then ignored her for a week because he certainly does not want to like her. Dude - MAN the fuck UP! I have to put this away and move on.

Can't Touch The Greatness of This Book lol

I absolutely loved this book. I love Harley! What a great, strong, loving, witty and sarcastic female lead. I loved that she didn't need rescuing, only the love of a great man! She didn't need fixed, just accepted for who she was by one sexy man. Nolan was perfect too! I loved his loyalty to Harley when it would be easier on most to take the path of green $. In love with this book and know it's going on my reread list! I hope the other 3 brothers might get a book!

Hope there's a novella somewhere in the future so I can visit them again! Would love to see the brothers' stories too! Highly recommend.
