About the author

Hello folks,
My name is Solomon Carter, and I am the author of the Roberts and Bradley PI crime thriller series, The Last Line international thriller series, the DI Hogarth Darkest series and more. I write mysteries, crime and thriller novels and more besides.

I was born in Southend, Essex and lived there for most of my life apart from eventful student days in South London. But my life in Southend was even more eventful still. I ended up working in a string of jobs including as a jobcentre clerk, a book seller, tutor for youth with low skills and low self esteem, mortgage broker, and latterly manager of a food bank which dealt with all kinds of interesting people facing all kinds of eye-opening, jaw dropping problems. Because of these ear-to-the-ground jobs the majority of my novels are set in Southend. In 2016 I moved to North Cornwall because I liked the idea of never-ending holidays - but I also write almost every single day. My aim is to write action-packed thrillers and page-turning mysteries that readers love and my hope is to get better at what I do with every book across each and every year.

Eva and Dan thought they were getting to the bottom of the disappearances but as the investigation continues it becomes more interesting and complex. New names are popping up all the time for follow up, and this is exacerbated by bits and pieces being fed to them by an unknown person and it is difficult to identify if it is the PI’s themselves that are in danger or something more sinister, especially when Dan is taken back to a period in his life that they both have put behind them. As they delve deeper and deeper more disappearances come to light but some of these are of the permanent kind – which puts a different light on the story. The helping hand for early disappearances becomes more sordid.
There are so many twists and turns and characters being introduced along with the disruption of the family life of Eva and Dan, that the reader must continue to puzzle out where the story will take us next. Interestingly, our PI’s are getting some assistance from a new officer at Southend Police. Bring on the final in the trilogy.

So we are in the middle of this trilogy starting Eva Roberts and Dan Bradley - book 1 is The Ghost Maker and this story is as gripping as regular fans have come to expect from Solomon Carter. Having been led to the discovery of a shady organisation that offers a "Disappearing" service for desperate people who need a way out of their life, it's clear from Eva and Dan's investigation that it turned into something darker sometime along the way. They decided it's time to involve DS Finch, the newest member of DI Hogarth's team at Southend CID. But near the end of this book Eva and Dan make the stunning discovery that there's a contact going back to the darkest period of their lives - especially Dan's. Since I wait for the three books in Solomon Carter's trilogies to be published before reading Book 1 so I can carry smoothly on with the story. I've just started book 3, The Ghost Trade. Definitely Great reads!

Another Fabulous book in the series, I am so loving these books, They are just so good, fast paced and action packed from the beginning of the book to the end, I wanted to get to the end of the book to find out what happened, but I also did not want to get to the end as there would be no more to read.

Book two of this trilogy sees Eva and Dan continue to delve into the puzzle of disappearing people. There's more to it than what's on the surface and could be rooted in the past.

Some twists and turns and thought processes and maybe a little repetative but cleverly done.

Well-written, engaging and entertaining.
