⚫️The Glitter Monster Mystery by Casey Wood is just a joy to read. It’s the kind of chapter book that keeps kids flipping pages late into the night, heads full of clues and questions. Right away, the friendly school vibe and the lovable cast Lucy, Becca, and Tonya draw you in. These three stick together through everything, and when their classroom explodes in a glittery mess, they roll up their sleeves and get to work. The mystery has just enough twists to keep you on your toes, but it’s never confusing or over-the-top. “Operation Glitter Monster” is a wild ride, and honestly, it kind of makes you want to grab your own notebook and get sleuthing, too.
⚫️What really stands out, though, is the way Casey Wood slips in lessons about honesty and doing the right thing, even when it’s tough. It’s never forced. The story just unfolds naturally, and you actually feel the girls figuring out what matters along the way. Their friendship is sweet and believable, full of goofy moments and real support.
⚫️Kids will love the fast pace and the sharp, funny writing. It’s perfect for reading solo or out loud with the family plenty of laughs all around. Plus, the school setting is super relatable. Young readers see themselves in these pages, and parents and teachers get some great conversations about trust and integrity, without it ever getting preachy.
⚫️All in all, The Glitter Monster Mystery is a feel-good read. It’s packed with mystery, humor, and heart. Casey Wood nails the balance between fun and substance, so kids get a story they’ll remember and probably ask to read again. If you’re looking for an adventure with friendship, detective work, and lots of glitter, this one’s a winner.
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book and this is my honest, and voluntary, review.*
I read this book with my 8 year old (who is an advanced reader). We read it in one afternoon. I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was a refreshing story about friendship, what it means to be a good friend, and also about being a good person. It touched on a lot of the topics and morals I, and probably most people raising children, try to instill in my daughter. But sometimes hearing it from a different source makes more of a difference. I read a lot of thrillers and I've been introducing my daughter to mysteries because she enjoys "trying to solve them" as she reads. I liked this book because it gave some of the rush of the "twists you don't see coming" that I love about thrillers in a fun, age-appropriate way. I am an educator (2nd grade) and my daughter just finished 2nd grade and is headed to 3rd grade. I thought this book was not only age-appropriate topic wise but also comprehension wise. I loved that the author mentioned hoping to "bring families together for laughter, wonder, and memorable story time" because reading this book together with my daughter did exactly that.
(Honest and Voluntary) Review from Audrey (age 8.5/ 3rd grade): "I absolutely loved the book so much. It was really funny .It was a very cute book. There was nothing there was nothing that I disliked about it.I’d give it 10/10!"
What a wonderfully fun mystery this was. My daughter, who is almost 9, an advanced reader, and a complete book junkie, was hooked from start to finish. Honestly, so was I.
Every time we thought we had the mystery figured out, the story would surprise us and send us right back to trying to solve it all over again. That kept the reading experience really engaging and made it a lot of fun to read together.
What I loved most, though, were the lessons woven throughout the story. The importance of being a good person, making thoughtful choices, working together, and treating others with kindness all come through naturally without ever feeling preachy. The story also sparked quite a few meaningful conversations between my daughter and me afterward, which is always one of my favorite things about reading together.
Add in plenty of humor, problem-solving, memorable characters, and a mystery that keeps kids thinking, and you’ve got a book that is both entertaining and meaningful. We thoroughly enjoyed this one and will definitely be looking for more from the series.
I am a kindergarten teacher and am always looking for a good read aloud. This story was such a fun read. Just when I thought I knew the answer to the unsolved mystery, there would be a surprise twist.
Most importantly, my favorite part was the lessons on honesty, integrity, kindness, and teamwork. I hope that when I am able to share this story with my students, there will be meaningful discussions.
(I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.)
The Glitter Monster is an enjoyable chapter book based on a class and Ms. Ruby the teacher. The main three characters in the class Lucy, Becca, and Tonya form Team Three for the classroom mystery. They work well together. I like reading mystery books for children and this one is good. The reader learns how to solve problems and important lessons. The ending leads you to look forward to the next book.
Book Review: The Glitter Monster Mystery by Casey Wood I really enjoyed The Glitter Monster Mystery because it was exciting, funny, and full of surprises. At first, everyone is scared, but the main characters are brave and decide to investigate. The book kept me guessing because there were lots of twists, and I wasn't sure who was behind everything until the end. I also liked the characters because they worked together and never gave up, even when things got difficult. They each had different strengths, which made them a great team. The author used lots of descriptive language, so I could easily imagine the scenes in my head. I would recommend this book to kids who like mysteries, adventures, and funny stories.
Thank you for letting my daughter ARC read this … My daughter loved this book she really enjoyed it Tonya was her favorite character she found her funny and cool that she wanted to solve the glitter monster mystery right from the start

Vintage Sleuthing Meets Modern Fun
This story manages to capture that classic, clever Nancy Drew detective spirit that takes me right back to my own childhood. It combines that nostalgic investigative fun with a playful, slightly spooky vibe reminiscent of the Goosebumps books my daughter couldn't put down. It is a wonderful mix of mystery, imagination, and just the right amount of suspense to keep a child entirely hooked without causing any bad dreams.
Why Kids (and Grandparents) Will Love It:
Wonderfully Accessible: The sentence structure and chapter lengths are perfectly calibrated for a 7-year-old's reading level, building confidence with every page.
Sparkly Suspense: The plot is fast-paced, highly engaging, and filled with fun clues that allow kids to play detective right along with the characters.

Received this book for free and my review is my choice.
This book fun, exciting, and full of surprises. The story kept me wondering what would happen next, and we tried to solve the mystery before the characters did, but we did fail. We loved how they discovered the answer.
The characters were friends and that is very clear in the story. I can picture my 10 year old twins with their friends chasing down this mystery. I would hope that they would be as truthful as Team Three. The girls showed bravery, teamwork, and kindness, even when things got messy.
The author did a great job making the story interesting while keeping it at a pace where you would not get bored. All sentences were intentional and relevant.
I would recommend this book to kids in 3-4th graders who enjoy mysteries, friendships and adventures. II rated this a 5/5 because it was entertaining, easy to follow, and kept me and my kids interested from beginning to end.
'They huddled together like detectives in a very glittery crime movie.'
Beautifully written, short book for young children. The dialogue is fun and made me smile. The characters stand out from each other well, and come across as lovely kids. And the plot is interesting and believable, despite the shortness of the book it manages to build suspense and have a pleasing conclusion.
There is a wonderful message about honesty and integrity gently woven into the narrative, which is perfect for young readers.
I definitely recommend this to anyone with young kids who enjoy being read to, or reading for themselves.
I read this with my 11 year old and we had such a great time together discussing theories of what we think happened! We loved how it ended and we can’t wait to continue the story!
From my 11 year old: I liked how the friends were supportive to each other I also liked how they were funny and if I was in that situation that would have made me feel better I really liked how it made you guess who did it because who would have thought it was one person and then a different person
This is a fun and entertaining mystery that keeps young readers engaged from beginning to end. Lucy, Becca, and Tonya make a great detective team as they follow glittery clues to uncover the truth behind the classroom mess. Filled with humor, surprises, and positive messages about friendship and honesty, it's a great read for kids who enjoy school adventures and mysteries.
