A BRAND-NEW feel-good romantic book from Lisa Hobman's The Skye Collection series.
Perfect for the fans of Alison Sherlock, Jessica Redland and Fay Keenan
When your world is turned upside down, home is where the heart is…
Plucked from nowhere and thrust into the limelight, 21-year-old Angelia MacAuley never expected her passion for music to take her all over the world.
Fast forward 10 years, and after successfully touring the globe with the man she thinks she loves but can't have, a shocking diagnosis forces her to rethink the glamorous life she loves and the future of those around her.
Needing to step back and rest, Angelia and her faithful companion Scrappy return to her childhood home on the Isle of Skye and the warm and welcome embrace of her parents.
With her latest investment in a growing property portfolio situated in the picturesque village of Glentorrin on Skye, Angelia pours her energies into renovating the forgotten shop that seemingly has endless possibilities, but will she find time to heal and find a love of her own too?
A vicar, a rock drummer and a classical musician seem an interesting combination vying for her attentions - perhaps now is the time for fresh start in every area of her life.
Angel is an un assuming student with a big voice and when her family and best friends Ed and Fi all cajole her into entering a tv talent show to become the front woman for a band she begrudgingly enters. Cue to ten years later where she has been a huge star. She feels ill and is losing her voice and stamina. A life changing diagnosis sends her home to her little Scottish village. Her parents and friends rally round her and she makes some new friends along the way. This is a story of love, friendship and determination. It’s a great book and it was lovely to have some cameos from Bella and Granny Isla. Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review.
While I am deeply thankful to have been given a chance to ARC read this book, I fear I DNF-ed at 40%. What I've read of the book I have liked, but I also realized this is not my kind of read, and I didn't want to force myself to finish it, which may have led to a negative review, and that would have been both unfair and absolutely my fault for forcing myself to go through a book that has been great, even if we didn't click. I wish the best of lucks to the author, and everyone who reads the book, an amazing read!
I have read Lisa Hobman before, the last book was okay but I wasn't blown away, however this book was amazing. I really loved the characters and the descriptions of the surroundings in Skye.
Angelina's Dream was to be a singer, encouraged by her two best friends to enter a televised competition to become the new singer for a rock band, her whole life changed.
10 years later, is her life about to change again, after having some devastating medical news. Escaping to her parents on the Isle of Skye, she must decide what she wants from her life now, and what is important to her.
This is a well written book and I would recommend it for your Summer read pile, escape real life and escape to Skye for a few hours
Angelia MacAuley, a gifted singer and musician in a successful band, is forced to rethink her life when a chronic health condition changes everything. Choosing to return to her beloved Skye and be close to her family, she trades the spotlight for the challenge of renovating an old cottage and opening a record shop in the charming village of Glentorrin. Along the way, she must also navigate her feelings for her best friend.
This is a warm and engaging story set in an idyllic location that plays a key role in the narrative. Gentle and romantic, it also offers thoughtful insight into living with a chronic condition. A perfect read for fans of cozy romances. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy in exchange for this review.
