About the author

Lisa Tomey-Zonneveld has been a poet since childhood, starting with a fascination with Poe and onward to learning Asian poetic forms and others. She believes you cannot learn enough about poetic form, but to always allow for the unpredictable, often embracing it, treating it with tender, loving care. First publishing claim was to a Sixth Grade Anthology of Poetry on to several poems for worship settings.

Lisa is the manager of Prolific Pulse Press LLC, where poetry and other works find a home.

I’ve started Unhoused: Yearning for Home, and as someone who was formerly unhoused/homeless, I deeply connect with the theme and concept of this book.

Because it’s a compilation of many different people’s writings, there are a lot of different voices and writing styles, and much of it is written in a very free-form style. Combined with my brain fog, I’m finding that I really have to focus to fully absorb what I’m reading.

I think this is going to be one that takes me a little while to read properly—and that’s okay. I’d rather take my time with it than rush through something that feels this meaningful.

So far, I’m sitting at a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars, but I’m definitely interested to see how I feel as I continue. #librarythingearlyreviewers

Unhoused is such a valuable collection of prolific poetry, essays, art, and photography. The opening pages grab at the heart as the anonymous participants have shared their experiences as unhoused. The carefully curated poetry, essays, art, and photography represent well the various points of view about searching for what is termed as "home." What stood out to me is the wide range of quality content, all with meaningful messages, verbal and non-verbal. The fact that a large amount of the proceeds goes to help women in need, makes a difference to me.
