Handwriting doesn’t lie. But people do.
Forensic handwriting expert Claudia Rose takes on two new a forged signature in a troubling auto theft investigation, and a young woman desperate for help after her uncle receives a series of anonymous, threatening notes.
As Claudia examines the handwriting behind each case, troubling undercurrents begin to surface. Details don’t add up. Stories shift. Emotional pressure bleeds through the ink in ways the writers never intended.
Then a sudden tragedy strikes close to home, and Claudia’s work turns darker and far more personal. Someone is hiding behind half-truths and false leads, and the only clues she can trust are the ones written on the page.

It had been a few years since I last read a Claudia Rose novel, so when the author reached out to ask if I’d like to read the newest installment, I was eager to return to the series.

In Book 10, Claudia Rose is pulled into two separate cases that are unexpected, intriguing, and equally compelling. The first case begins with a phone call from her ex-husband, Allan Rose—an unexpected reminder of the past. After their difficult divorce, Claudia never expected to hear from him again, but Allan is direct: his client has been accused of forging a car title in a fraud case and insists he is innocent.

Allan needs someone who can determine the truth behind the signature, and he knows no one better suited for the job than Claudia.

Claudia is understandably apprehensive about taking the case, especially because it means working with Allan again. She also worries about how her current husband, Joel Jovanic, will react. Joel, however, takes it in stride. He trusts Claudia completely and encourages her to help Allan.

While preparing for Allan’s trial, Claudia is referred to another client facing a frightening situation: someone has been sending threatening messages to Quentin Adler, known as Q. His niece, Tansy, hires Claudia to uncover who might be trying to hurt him.

Q is not an ordinary client. He is the CEO of a major tech company, and after falling ill, he begins to fear that someone may be trying to scare him—or worse, kill him. Tansy has been asked by her mother to look after him, though she is still trying to find direction in her own life.

As Claudia works both Allan’s case and Q’s, unsettling similarities begin to emerge. She cannot yet see how the pieces fit together, but the deeper she digs into Q’s situation, the more disturbing the case becomes.

Is Claudia in over her head, or is her caution justified? Knowing Claudia, I knew she would not stop until she uncovered the truth—and as always, the most revealing clues may be hidden in the handwriting. Or are they that simple? You’ll have to read to find out.

I’m happy to say I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was a pleasure to reconnect with Claudia and Joel and see how their lives have changed. Through it all, their dedication to their work and their love for one another remain steady.

The mystery kept me turning the pages, eager to see how each thread would come together.

I would recommend this one to readers who enjoy character-driven mysteries, tangled motives, and clues that reveal as much about people as they do about the case. It’s a satisfying return to Claudia Rose and a perfect book to take on vacation, to the beach, or anywhere you can read with a nice drink and nothing but time on your hands.

Lies Between the Lines is a stellar addition to Sheila Lowe's Claudia Rose Forensic Handwriting series — a fast-paced mystery loaded with twists that will keep you guessing until the end. This is book ten in the series, and Lowe shows no signs of slowing down.

What sets Lowe apart is her gift for deep, layered character development. Claudia Rose and other main characters continue to grow in ways that feel earned and authentic, and when that emotional depth is woven together with expertly crafted suspense, the result is exactly what devoted readers have come to expect: a story that's as compelling as it is satisfying.

And if you're new to the series? Honestly, I'm a little jealous because you have nine other incredible books waiting for you.

I have never read a novel where the protagonist is a handwriting expert and I was firstly interested to find out what the plot would be and then how she fitted into it. I found Claudia Rose a very credible character and the plot lines very engaging. I think Australian readers might ask themselves whether this scenario would be possible in Australia, but nevertheless there is certainly enough to keep them reading.

By absolute coincidence I am reviewing this novel on the day after it has been published. Perhaps not such a coincidence because the author sent me a copy of it just a few weeks ago.

I literally could not put this book down. It starts off with heart-pounding danger in a prologue teaser, then slows into more Holmesian mysteries involving a possible forgery and threatening greeting cards. Handwriting expert, Claudia Rose, is whip-smart, talented, and willing to help, but she's not impervious to anxious feelings that test her judgment and even sanity. Lowe's style lured me in with familiar situations and characters, then gut-punched with psychological tension so thick, I wondered whether the plot was actually happening to me. If gripping is your thing, grab this book!

This is my first book I’ve read by this author. In some ways, I wished I’d begun from the beginning of the series. What I liked: the fascinating observations and conclusions drawn through handwriting; the sweet reconnection with Allan; the insights from a police detective; the crazy yet interesting cases. What I didn’t like: it seemed Claudia, who seems intelligent and intuitive, takes some dumb and unnecessary risks; frustrating that she doesn’t listen or heed her husband’s words. Overall, I’m glad I read this novel.

The Claudia Rose series is one of my favorites, and this latest novel, The Lies Between the Lines, does not disappoint. The author being a real-life forensic handwriting courtroom consultant lends amazing realism to her characters.

This is a twisty mystery that winds through a shocking murder, with fascinating insight into the esoteric world of handwriting analysis and how much can be known about our personalities without us even realizing it. A mystery within a mystery!

Addicting! Claudia Rose is back in the courtroom and on the case. Two cases! This deep dive into Claudia's personal life crashing alongside her court case kept me riveted to the page. Intense drama in and out of the courtroom kept me guessing as Claudia searched for clues. You won't see it coming until she solves the case.

As a Claudia Rose fan, I could not wait for this new novel in the series to drop. It did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the details that were clearly from Sheila’s experience as a document examiner and handwriting expert consultant over the years. How the story ties together at the end is brilliant

Writers write what they know, and Sheila Lowe knows handwriting analysis. She has taken this talent and created the believable character of Claudia Rose, a handwriting expert. Claudia is independent and intelligent. She wants to help people and often goes beyond what she's asked to do. In some cases Claudia goes a bit too far and endangers herself.
Claudia's latest challenge is twofold: to help a family find the source of threatening notes and to assist in a criminal case. When the criminal case becomes personal, the reader meets a different Claudia, who does all that she can to solve the crime.
I enjoyed this latest entry into the Claudia Rose series and highly recommend it.
I've read many of Lowe's books through the years, and I've see the author expand her subject matter while honing her craft.
This is a good read.
