Imagine, if you will, noticing a few odd things happening that just aren't quite right or wrong. For example, a missing blanket and a few missing apples, surely can't mean much. Susan assumes that perhaps the carpenter had a snack, and goes about her busy life.

Until, she finds Ellie and Cassie looking for food in her trash a few days later and realizes that these little girls have been living in her crawl space for a few days. Torn between calling the authorities and social services, Susan, instead opts to visit an old friend, Jim, who happens to be a detective. Susan and Jim quickly figure out, who the girls belong to, but are determined to find out why the girls ran away from their foster family. Obviously, something has frightened the girls enough to run. But, why hasn't the foster family reported the girls missing?

Dangerous twists and turns with the turn of each page....

Can't believe I forgot to add this to Goodreads when I read it a few weeks ago! Excellent first novel. Looking forward to many more.

A rather un-romantic Romantic Suspense. Susan and Jim had little chemistry and seemed to just come together because they were in proximity and they both cared for Cassie and Ellie. The plot itself relied too heavily on coincidence and needed Penny to act as a deus ex machina for things to come to a conclusion. It wasn't bad, just average.

I really enjoyed this book. The twist and turns kept me wondering what would happen next. There is plenty of detail, but it is still easy to read.
