I liked this book a lot. I had never read a book which incorporated a Mystery/thriller with Christian values before, and I loved it! Even though the story is fiction it offered some inadvertent great "real life" advice when dealing with a tough situation. For instance the PI Vera Slone appears to have lost her husband due to a plane crash. She takes it all on herself and her daughter to search and find out what really happened to him. Being now on her own and a single parent, a reverend talks to her about how to cope through the stress of everything. I liked what he had to say to her about how God is in control.
I was so enthralled with this read, it was written very well. I didn't want to put it down.
I loved the ending which was a complete surprise.

Simplistic with clichéd characters. Written like it for children though the topic is too adult for kids. I do not recommend and will not read this author again.

"Lord, I feel extremely strange about this entire business. I am not even sure how to proceed. Please keep me from stepping off into something that would turn out wrong."

Eh, this book was alright. The story was written well enough, most if not all of the characters were cliched. And it seemed to me that the characters were too perfect as well. And as a Christian, one thing that really bothers me is when Christians assume that everything bad that happens to them is some kind of punishment from God, instead of something designed to happen to help you or test you or even just something that's random chance. The book seems to contradict itself with this idea because another idea that I took from it that I really like that omnipotence is the ability to achieve a purpose without some kind of ridiculous show of power. While some who enjoy classic private investigator novels may find this book enjoyable, I don't think I'll be reading another Sam and Vera Sloan novel anytime soon.

At first i notice it was awful lame but then i thought maybe it will improve. i was terribly wrong as it only got worse. It was slow and you just went like ugh who talks like this and the author might saved it if he put more into it. I got a bad feeling when i read the author was like a priest or whatever but i was like well i will give him a chance. i must had failed to realize it's only of this books where it is just so much religion you want to hurl. Yes, i have to admit i didn't actually finish it but that is because i couldn't even force my self to do it. I will not go near this author again.
