With ribsword in hand, with gore in her curling locks, Sym has been sent to the distant past to murder her creators' enemies. But the twisted alchemists who made Sym do not know that the engine that powers her is sentient, that it is the seed of their destruction. By blood and by fury, Sym will carve out her destiny in this new ongoing series.
Bizarre but intriguing story. I dug the surreal imagery in the scenes with the Dragon character that looks like a Deathclaw from Fallout. The alchemists were disappointing, they're unraveling and hurting themselves and one another while they wait for the warrior weapon they created named Sym to get back on track and complete her mission. Their flawed nature I liked but their dialogue wasn't very compelling. Sym time travelling and bursting through animals is cool but would've liked to see more of the world she's supposed to save.

An engaging and inventive first issue in what could prove to become a sterling series.
The story starts off with promise and seems to hint at a lore that is blessedly free of derivative copy-paste. The pencils are terrific as well and have a dark fairy tale aesthetic that hints at Gaiman-style worlds.
I have to be honest I have no idea what any of that was about. It was beautiful, gory, and visually interesting but I definitely had some disconnect between me and the storyline. In fact, I only understood a little of what I was supposed to by reading the description just now. Sadly not for me.
Seems like it has the potential to become an interesting story later on, but at least for now, there's too much going on and it's too difficult for me to follow.
