After his exile from Russia, Leon Trotsky lived in Turkey, France and Norway before arriving in Mexico in 1937. In the Latin American country that was to be his last home, Trotsky networked with intellectuals and activists, fought tirelessly against Stalinism, and even had an affair with the artist Frida Kahlo before his fatal rendezvous with an ice axe in the summer of 1940.
