For an Erotic novel, this actually had a pretty decent storyline. There was one thing I found too hard to believe...the UK had more than two days of glorious roasting hot weather!
Hillary is a contradictory character. She is not deaf to her body's yearnings, and she is willing to make the most of casual encounters. What I don't understand is this keeping her eyes closed and pretending she's asleep (dead?) bit of nonsense: when she's sunbathing on the beach & giving in to the invisible caresses, when feigning sleep in the hay barn, and then when an unknown form slips into bed with her. Is she really in a daze, or is meant to add an element of 'mystery' to the story? Somehow it just doesn't add up, not even at the end, when she closes her eyes and lets her mind fall into the black hole... I wish there was more dark intrigue and devilishness going on. The Bluebeard theme has potential... but there are no dramatic surprises for the reader.
Oh, I had such high hopes for this book! When I started to read, it felt very much like a chick-lit book with added spice, but soon the storyline seemed to stop going anywhere and Hillary just started sleeping with any good looking guy she bumped into - and there doesn't seem to be any other type! So, I'm afraid that I gave up once I got to the hay barn scene, as I found myself not really caring in the slightest what, and who, she decided to do!!
A entertaining read for the dirty little exhibitionist hiding in us all...
I have definitely marked it due to sentimental reasons as it was my first foray into world of Erotica Fiction was care of Cleo. I still have this in my bedside reading material today.
