This book would have been much better if had been shorter. Because most of this book was about the future of this pack (which could have been written in several other books to create a series with all of the other pack members & hints of the pre-existing members that have already had a book written about them). Because this author was so more interested in the future development of this pack there was really hardly any good sex scenes & romance. I really tried to read all of this book that I read up to chapter 12; but when the author took me 5 years into the future with no warning that was it for me. I did wind to reading the last &/or the 17th chapter just to see how the book ends & it was an ok ending. I don't think that I will be reading any more of this author's Mail Order Mate books.
This was a strange one to review. I think we're all kind of used to reading about shifters who are integrated into modern life and probably billionaire businessmen or something. But this one is about a rag tag pack of humans that were turned into werewolves many years ago but were left to go feral, and a few genetically modified superwolves who are bringing them back to civilisation. The story spans about 17 years. There were some strange jumps and when it went forward, there were threads that had begun in the previous storyline that just seemed to have been forgotten. It was also heavy on the dialogue rather than action. It was an interesting concept though, with a message about tolerance and diversity.
The story moved along and there wasn’t anything about it that really stood out for me as a fantastic read but that could be because I really struggled with the narrative. The reader was super hard for me to listen to. Her sentences were broken in awkward places....it felt stilted and robotic and didn’t flow naturally which has me feeling more like “yay! I made it through the book” rather than “this was a good read.”
My suggestion is to read it for yourself and skip the audible completely.
Nice idea. Lots of dialogue. Although if I hadn't read the summary I would have no idea of the back story.
Language used in everyday conversation makes the characters seem they should be in England decades ago (folly, quite, etc.) yet they have cell phones. Other actions described (walked with hands on his hips) made characters seem like teenagers instead of the adults they should be;if this was supposed to be humor, it didn't work for me.
The relationship between the H and h was quick to sleep together without more than physical attraction. The story moves so fast it seems to skip along in the lives of the characters.
A wonderful new version of the existence of werewolves living amongst humans.
Very creative and sweet little twists to be revealed throughout this fantastic storyline with an awesome, understanding, thoughtful and progressive alpha male creating a safe haven for his collection of werewolves sent a unsuspecting mate whose just perfect match created for him to bring their lives into prosperity and a better future for all. I'm totally recommending this wonderfully portrayed paranormal shifter story knowing that you will find it thoroughly enchanting and enjoyable without any cliffhangers.
It was a sweet story, that was well written. But try I've become accustomed to conflict so at every turn I waited. That detracted from the overall feel. Add to that the fact that the conflict never came to fruition, it just left me edgy and unsatisfied. But, if you are looking for a happy, sweet story this one's for you. One other thing, and maybe it's just me, but it felt like a prairie story. Old time simple charm, when it was supposed to be modern to futuristic.
This book has a good concept of a story line but lacks the follow through overall. It was if it was a bunch of novellas covered over time. There were parts where it seemed that the writer was starting a new book because she was retelling what happened up to that point as if the reader may not have read the book to there. There were too many points where I was wanting more and even more parts where I wished there had been less words. Like I said, it was an ok book that had potential but didn't seem to hit the mark for me.
The beginnng was a little odd with them having cell phones, but then i kept picturing an old western town of th 1800's, so a little disconcerting. But i still really liked the story. It did seem to meander a little bit and some time markers every once in a while would have been nice, especially towards the end. ex: 5 years later, etc... Still overall i really enjoyed it:)
another winner .. it was funny ,romantic full of love. Night & Chastity is strong and lasting. although the story spans years it's cohesive and I didn't feel any of the story was left out . If your like me and love shifter romances this is a MUST READ. Thanks Jade
A new home new beginning for the pack. He paired you for me. Together we will better the pack. We will take care of the land an the pack together. Great read. Looking forward to other stories from this Adirondack pack.
Starting a new pack and life This is a well written book about some shifters both born and made, making a new life for themselves in the wild. Creating a strong pack and having help from an old friend to add to the pack. Self-contained and entertaining story.
This was strange but awesome. I have never read a shifter book in light. I love when authors write shifter books different from the norm, makes it that much more exciting.
A very good story overall. Some of the transitions were very abrupt, and the author managed to cover several decades and generations in this story. I would have liked to see the overall outline be a bit shorter and have more cohesive details in several places.
I wanted to really like this book. It's well written, has intersting characters, and an interesting premise but it's very superficial. I kept feeling like there should be more to it then there was. So while I didn't hate or even dislike the book I really didn't like it either.
Read the whole book in one day, just couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read another one, it was ready good and highly recommended to anyone who loves a great shifter book?
I liked it. I saw the poorer ratings but this was a great story. It did need some new chapters though when it skipped time. other than that, an enjoyable read.
