Thank you to Emrae Publishing for providing me with an advanced reader copy of You Found Me in June!

While I'm not typically a poetry girl, You Found Me in June was able to open me up a bit more to the genre's potential. I’m so glad it did!

This is a collection of poems that delivered elegant prose and very relatable snapshots into the authors daily life. The poems were intimate, and you can definitely tell that Vega has a profound love for poetry, wine, and love itself in many forms. There was also a lot of pain that came through the writing, and I imagine it took a lot of vulnerability to write some of these.

I do feel like because poetry is often SO personal and intimate, that it's hard to rate because everyone's experience with each piece will hit them so differently. There were a few poems that really stood out and called to me personally: Aftermath, Surround Me, and Ten of Cups being just a few!

I think if you're on the hunt for what's new in poetry land, I would definitely recommend picking this up and reading through the collection. If you're not looking for poetry or don't think you'd enjoy reading poems that you can see yourself in, then it may not be for you! Either way, I enjoyed my time with this. :)

"I'm going to
Savor,
No-
Devour-
Every morsel of you" - Five-Star Dessert

What a beautiful and lyrical book this was. While not all of the poems spoke to me directly today, there were some that spoke to Past Me and others that made me think of the loved ones in my life.

The ones that did resonate with me were the harsher ones of desire and self-loathing. Reminders of who I am and who I can be should I choose to pursue it.

I enjoyed this! This collection of poetry resonated with me through life experiences of being loved, loving others, learning to love one’s self, unrequited love, and the emptiness felt when love becomes grief.

Recently went through a grief moment in my life and this was definitely reflective of echos of grief. Really enjoyed it.
