When I first started to read this book, I thought what is this dialogue heavy book trying to say? Why are these women so fast with the violence? But, as I read on I liked the fact that these women were on a mission and that the mission (without giving the plot away) was about a group of women that you get to know throughout the book as highly defined characters and in my case as people that you might have known in your neighborhood. These women characters were powerful and ruthless but as the novel proceeds you see the reasons for the ruthless behavior. And the reader gets an understanding of why they are using their power as they do. I am used to seeing this kind of similar story from the male point of view but this one is presented from the female viewpoint and that touched me so much that when I finished the book at 3 am, I woke up my husband up by screaming "Oh My God," and hitting him, when I got to the full meaning of the story. Briana Rodney is an artist and paints a story about Brooklyn that some people can relate to and others need to be introduced to. I am very excited to read Ms. Rodney's next book in this series. This book is also one of the most cinematic books that I have ever read and I hope to see it on the big screen one day. I am also going to give some of my friends this book for Christmas.
