A Romeo and Juliet retelling of epic proportions!
Lauren and Kain, man. This love story? Top tier. It was equal parts beautiful, devastating, thrilling, stressful, sexy and LOVE!!! Both Lauren and Kain overcame some really tough circumstances individually to be the best partner for each other. The one thing that sticks out to me is the power of the truth. Kain was privy to the knowledge of Lauren’s true assailant that left her in a coma for 2 weeks but withheld the information because he knew it would be too painful for her. Turns out she still suffered. She still lived in pain. I loved the moment when Kain realized she’ll be in pain if I hold back and she’ll be in pain if I tell the truth…so I’m gonna just tell the truth. I’m so glad he did.
Kain is a top tier boyfriend. I could give a laundry list of the things he did to support, uplift Lauren. Knowing how they met, he never pressured her. EVER. And became extremely protective of her. He paid for her therapy even though she had a restraining order on him… I just love him so bad!
That Joshua Caplan? May he die a repeated death in the 8th circle of hell. May his torture be eternal. F*ck that guy, forreal. And I thought Silas was going to be the villain…he ain’t a walk in the park, but he definitely surpasses Joshua Caplan in the fatherly department. I think he may be one of the worst fathers I’ve ever read! Egotistical and narcissistic. To the detriment of his relationship with his children. I’m glad Lauren went no contact. May he rot.
I love Millie Belizaire and I can’t wait to read what she’s got coming next!

Run it back!
This combined series release prompted the reread that's been long overdue!! I absolutely loved this series then. And after finishing it again, those feelings have not changed one bit. Kain and Lauren still had me in a chokehold years later! Millie writes the most considerate, caring, selfless MMCs and I was reminded of this during my revisit of this series that was well worth the repeat journey!

Books 1 & 2 were 5⭐️ couldn’t put the book down! Then came book 3 and WTF was that! Lauren went from a confident strong woman who knew her own mind to a weak minded woman who allowed her father and a looser man to make her feel like she deserved to be treated like she was less than. Such a disappointment. The ending was just meh. Such a huge contrast between books 1 and 2 vs 3.

From beginning to end this book was fantastic. The friendship and love Kain and Lauren displayed was a true show of emotions even with the bad situation they ended up in.

The level of secrets trust loyalty and disloyalty loss and grief. in this series and through it all they knew they loved each other unconditional. I highly recommend this book enjoyed it
