This is the first time I've seen scripture stories, particularly focusing on women, in a children's chapter book. To be honest, I think it's a marvelous idea. Scripture Princesses simplified and summarized stories about sixteen women from the scriptures in a way that made it easy for grade-school-aged children to comprehend and enjoy them. The writing was perfect for kids and the illustrations added a lot to each story. I would have even loved to have seen the illustrations all in color, but they were still eye-catching and fit each story well. Overall, Scripture Princesses was a book that I enjoyed reading and one that my daughter will definitely enjoy. I'm hoping that the author will write other books as well for both girls and boys.

I liked this book because it shows lots of girl power and it was also a scripture book, so I got to learn more about scripture hero's that were girls. This is a great book if anyone is looking for gospel girl power.
I love this book! It features stories of sixteen women, or princesses, in the scriptures. At the beginning of each chapter, there are different qualities to look for as you read. For example, the first chapter is "Be wise, like Eve." Some others are "Be loyal, like Ruth," "Be prayerful, like Hannah" and "Be brave, like Esther." I like that because, while it's not the only quality that particular woman possesses, it will help a young reader turn to her when she's looking to be more brave, prayerful, etc., and she will be able to relate to each woman in a certain way.
Each story is simplified for young readers and is a fantastic introduction to real heroines. The author gives additional references at the end of each chapter where you can learn more about each princess. In the Introduction, the author also brings up the point that each princess had faith through hard trials. They faced things that we may face, like infertility or childlessness, government oppression, being uprooted from our homes, loved ones falling away from God, and much more.
I also love the illustrations! They feel authentic and help bring the stories to life. The illustrations are in black and white and the more I thought about it, the more I loved that idea. My daughter can color in the pictures which will make this book even more meaningful to her, both now and in the future. This book is well researched (including the illustrations) and well written and it will make a great addition to any gospel library. It will make a great gift for any young reader and will give your daughter plenty of women to look up to and emulate!
This is a book I would have liked for my girls to have when they were younger. It is full of women in the scriptures. It has plenty of pictures. The story, the lesson and it gives the scripture reference.
It is aimed at LDS audience because it includes scriptures from Book Of Mormon and D & C. But anyone can enjoy and learn about the women in the scriptures.
They are about real women of faith and the lessons we can learn from their examples. Some of the Women are Eve, Ester, Mary and many more including Emma Smith.
This is targeted to young girls 6 to 12 years old but can be good for all ages and sexes. Some good roll models for girls to look up to and learn from.
This would be a good book to give to young girls in your lives.
I like the pictures I have seen on this PDF copy. They fit the stories. I can''t wait till I see the book in print though.
I was given this ebook to read for free. In return I agreed to give a honest review of and be part of a Scripture Princess blog tour.
I was hoping that this book would have a different story-telling format, but I was sadly mistaken. I hoped it would have some creative writing, instead it felt like it was nearly taken word-for-word out of the scriptures. However, this is a great book for Sundays and does tell some wonderful stories about women from the scriptures. I am definitely keeping it for my kids. The best part of this book was the art. It is so beautiful. I love the illustrations.
My biggest thought while reading this book is that I think the author should make all these stories into picture books and make beautiful colored illustrations. That would be awesome!
