Bloomsbury #2
Where the Light Shines
The first kiss was only the beginning.
After Where the Light Falls, Caleb Ward has stepped out of the quiet safety of Hartwell Library and into Bailey Keane’s life. Now, in Where the Light Shines, the story continues in Bailey’s point of view — with rain on the windows, coffee warming cold hands, soft jumpers, careful touches, and the fragile courage it takes to be truly seen.
Bailey has always known how to be warm. He knows how to make a perfect flat white, how to make a room feel easier, how to notice what other people need before they ask. At Kettle & Page, across the street from Hartwell Library, he is patient, charming, steady — the kind of man who makes love look effortless. But being loved is different. Being loved means letting Caleb see the tired parts. The unfinished parts. The parts Bailey usually hides behind usefulness, humour, and a well-timed cup of coffee.
Caleb is quiet, observant, and braver than he thinks. He has already crossed the street once. Now he and Bailey must discover what happens after the grand romantic moment fades into ordinary morning coffee, borrowed warmth, nervous honesty, found family, rainy walks through Bloomsbury, and the slow, tender work of choosing each other out loud.
Set between a bookish London café and a library full of forgotten histories, Where the Light Shines is a cozy MM romance about emotional intimacy, hurt/comfort, care-giving, soft angst, and learning that love does not have to be earned.
Perfect for readers who love quiet queer love stories, rainy London atmosphere, library romance, coffee shop warmth, and men who learn how to let themselves be held.

This was the 2nd and I think final book in this short series.
Caleb and Bailey start their relationship. Taking it very slowly and getting to know each other.

My reviews are my own. If you enjoyed this book, I'm glad you did. If not, I respect your opinion, so please respect mine. This is simply my perspective, so let's keep the discussion courteous. My review is honest and voluntary. As a reader, I read to escape the world and its issues, and my reviews reflect that.
Unfortunately, this sequel suffers from a severe sophomore slump. The original novella was a breath of fresh air, delivering a mature, cozy, and endearing M/M romance. Regrettably, this installment regresses into immature, high-school romance tropes. Furthermore, the central dynamic loses its original identity, reading more like a heteronormative relationship than a genuine M/M story. While it is a passable read, it fails to capture the emotional depth and charm of its predecessor
Onward and forward to my next adventure. Happy reading!!!

I loved the storyline and characters. Caleb s very shy librarian and Bailey a barista in a coffee shop across from the library fall for each other but it is a very slow process. Want to read more by this author but haven’t been able to find any other.
