The Edge is the second book in the Alone trilogy. A psychological suspense novel about two women being pushed to their limit.
PC Sara Jones believes the law is there to be obeyed. No exceptions. Despite being bullied, isolated and forced to question her sanity, she remains determined to prove a fellow officer is guilty of rape.
Sin believes everybody is out to get her. Perhaps they are. Perhaps it’s time she fought back.
Alone One - Alone But Not Lost Alone Three - Found
Bob Summer's new book, The Edge, is a hard-edged psychological suspense novel that will keep you reading.
The Edge is a sequel to Alone But Not Lost, which features a young woman struggling for sanity. This woman appears again in The Edge, sought by a determined policewoman with problems of her own. It's another dark story for this author, especially recommended for readers who like unusual characters.
Another 5* read in this series. I'm surprised I never see this author's works being promoted by Amazon or any of those places that send out the price-drop emails to readers. They're well-written, gripping stories and I have greatly enjoyed both in the series so far. I was reading this one way into the early hours !! I did need to refer back to the first book when I started this one to remind myself where it finished so you do need to read them in order or you'll be pretty confused. This is the second in the trilogy. I hope she's working on something else as I can't find anything else by her right now. This one highlights Sara the policewoman more although Sin from book one is still around as well. I really liked the character of Alan, Sara's new colleague and really hope he'll turn up again in the final episode !! There were some quite touching moments in this one with one making me a little sniffy. I did think Glyn's part in this one was sort of left hanging. There were a lot of unanswered questions there. It had the odd error-you're being used in place of your was pretty terrible, speeded isn't usually used but sped instead, game playing needs a hyphen, dogs needed an apostrophe, there were missing speechmarks twice in the one paragraph which was odd since it was the only time this occurred, sides needed an apostrophe, too. That was it for mistakes which wasn't horrendous. No doubt I'll need to refresh my memory before embarking on the final book again but it'll be safely stored in my "Favourites" file along with the first book.
Not often I let myself get hooked on a series, but I let my guard down this time. It was worth it and now I will read book three. Book one was a dark psychological thriller that kept me hooked until the end, but then let me down with many unanswered questions. I didn't realize (based on reviews I read) that these answers were forthcoming in book two. This book follows on with the storyline from book one, but has a far different tone - more mystery thriller. I enjoyed following the tormented life of a marginal player from book one - but the main character here. Although this book is complete on its own, it is better to have read book one first. This story closes the loops just fine and I don't feel the need for book three as there is nothing left to really answer. But because they are such well writing suspense books, I will move on to the next.
I went right from the 1st book into this to keep all the great suspense going.I hated to put this book down.Kept my interest til the end-definitely recommend reading this series.I would read more by this author for sure.
