I was so into this book. Reading at a furious pace. Devouring each word and sentence until the very end. Then turning the last page and cursing not your story but the circumstances that prevented it from becoming complete. Well done sir.
Losing interest. The storyline isn’t living up to it’s potential.
The MC’s conceit, hubris and smarminess is becoming annoying as the books increasingly focuses on the psychological manipulation of everyone he comes in contact with, especially in growing his harem. There’s really few conflicts being overcome other than how to manipulate women into his bed.
The issue with Jasmine’s unwanted suitor has dragged on and on, with barely any interaction or resolution. Yes, alliances and plans have been set in motion to take out his whole clan, but this installment barely mentions him.
The essence of a good story is the dream, the struggle, the prize. Other than bedding a harem, there’s no higher purpose. Since the Mercer family conflict seems on the back burner, there’s little conflict anticipation. There are also few surprises, twists and turns. No moral dilemmas, limited physical action, few behind the scenes glimpses into the enemy’s schemes. In other words, little to engage the imagination and cause excitement.
At least, in the first books there were events and conflicts to overcome, now there’s just paparazzi being annoying. There’s nothing that requires the use of the MC’s supernatural advantages other than his know-it-all info on the various people that he has gathered. That is a big failing.
The first volume was written like a college bro airing out his harem fantasies with his fantastic "GENIUS" ideas.
The author CLEARLY improved and underpinned this tenth volume with psychological analysis (based on research); it's superfluous, yes, but the utilization is apropos for the story's context with regard to MC's current romantic objective.
I'm always fond of improvement. This is a fun read, especially at the end. I'm looking forward to the Part Two.
Short book in the series to introduce a new character in the main character's life. I find the excessive explanation a bit overdone and all of these books, but the premise is fun.
As entertaining as normal, but thankfully author warned in intro it would be short. It very much was and ended on a subtle… you must wait for next book.
