As the CEO of a multi-billion dollar retail chain, Victoria Green isn’t used to asking for help, especially not from too attractive for their own good repairmen like Dean Carey. After Victoria is attacked at her own party and Dean fights off the culprit, she’s forced to tell him her secret: Victoria’s father is on his deathbed, and her brother, who nearly ran the company into the ground, might be willing to do anything to make sure controlling interest goes to him.

Dean wants nothing to do with the ice princess CEO, even if he can’t keep his eyes off certain… assets of hers. He’s got enough on his plate between trying to get enough work to pay the bills and raising his little sister who’s growing up much too fast for his liking. Despite his misgivings, when Victoria offers him a blank check if he will keep his mouth shut about what he saw and shadow her until she can hire a more qualified bodyguard, he can’t bring himself to turn down that kind of cash.

Over the next few days, Dean learns Victoria isn’t as cold as he first thought and Victoria realizes that Dean is so much more than a handyman. But someone wants her dead and if they don’t figure out who and stop them, they might never get their happily ever after.

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- TEMPTING THE BOSS is third stand alone novella in Mallory Crowe’s adult, contemporary Billionaires in the City romance series. This is CEO/billionaire businesswoman Victoria Green, and repairman Dean Casey’s storyline. We were first introduced to Victoria and Dean in book 2-Teasing the Boss. TEMPTING THE BOSS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. There is some timeline crossover between book 2 and the current storyline.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Dean and Victoria) TEMPTING THE BOSS focuses on the attacks against Victoria Green and the investigation into who is responsible. After saving Victoria from an attack at a business function organized by event planner Grace Bell (Teasing The Boss), Dean declares himself Victoria’s personal bodyguard until otherwise notified. When a trip out of town results in another attempt at Victoria’s life, Dean begins to suspect someone close. What ensues is Victoria’s denial of what Dean believes is the obvious, and Dean’s attempts to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love.

The relationship is one of immediate attraction but Victoria and Dean travel in completely different social, economic and personal circles. Victoria is billionaire businesswoman whose father is gravely ill; Dean is a repairman who has been raising his younger sister since the death of their parents, years before. What ensues is a sexual relationship that comes with an expiry date if and when Victoria’s attacker is caught. Mallory Crowe kicks up the $exual eroticism in TEMPTING THE BOSS-the $ex scenes are provocative and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include cameos from Grace and Simon (book2) as well as Dean’s younger sister Katy; Victoria’s brother Terry and his new fiancée Joslyn Devaroux return home to sit vigil over Victoria and Terry’s dying father. One of Victoria’s personal bodyguards Jace Lance will find himself the victim of an assault-Jace’s story will be told next in book four-TRUSTING THE BOSS.

The world building continues to focus on the billionaire CEOs, and the men and women that they love. Each storyline is a stand alone but are interconnected through a crossover timeline or characters, who will be introduced in a previous novella story. There is always a threat that must be extinguished; and a happily ever after to be found.

TEMPTING THE BOSS is another fast paced and interesting storyline of insta-love between two people from differing social and economical backgrounds. There is mystery and suspense; romance and love; family loss and personal grief. Money and power may not pave the way to happiness but there is always somebody hoping for more. Mallory Crowe continues to put her spin on the billionaire storyline and it is nice to finally see a female at the head of a billion dollar corporation.

A switch from the male boss female assistant

I liked the concept, but the execution was less than stellar. It was basically a Harlequin Suspense, but not as well written. I kept picturing Dean Winchester which is never a bad thing, but he and Victoria were character sketches without enough detail to really feel invested.

Who is trying to kill his boss? and how did he become a bodyguard? Victoria wants to make her dad's company more successful and Dean has his sister to raise.

In the third instalment of this standalone series the author has changed it up so the billionaire/CEO is a female. When I first saw this it did make me slightly hesitant as it normally means the woman is an ice-cold, heartless, and ruthless dictator. However, from getting an insight into Victoria's life in Teasing the Boss, I was intrigued to find out her story. I also think it's my favourite in the series so far.

Tempting the Boss, like the previous two books, was a quick, easy read. I liked the relationship in this book most and thought there was a good amount of chemistry and tension between Victoria and Dean. Whilst Dean isn't the domineering CEO, he the sweet, loyal guy-next-door type who you can't help fall in love with. His situation with Katy and how he took on his parents' responsibility was admirable and it only made you love him even more. He was a good guy through and through, but he wasn't meek or timid to say what he really thought around Victoria. I thought they were a good pair.

Similarly, I though the author did a good job of making Victoria likeable. She had feelings unlike so many female characters I've read about in similar positions. I will admit that she made some stupid choices that at times didn't seem all that believable. I would have thought with someone trying to kill her she'd take less risks. For me a few here and there is fine, but she did have a disregard for her safety and I did roll my eyes a few times as it seemed all to easy to get her in trouble.

Saying that, I did like all the drama. The killer was slightly obvious, but it was still an enjoyable story. Also, there were a few loose ends where not all relationships were tied up.

Overall this has been my favourite in the series so far. Now on to book four.

5 Stars!

Another hit by this author in this really sweet and sexy series. I enjoyed this book. Let's be honest . . . we all love the classic billionaire romance where you can start reading and get swept off of your feet into a world of high class and fine dining. This book was definitely that stereotype but had a few twists to keep you on your toes along the way.

This book was really good. It was sweet, sexy, suspenseful, funny, and had a few twists and turns along the way. This book may just be my favorite in this series to date. I devoured this book in one sitting and instantly started the next book in the series. This is a new-ish author to me but has been added to my future TBR lists for sure and one I keep coming back too.

This is Dean and Victoria's story. The author turned this around a bit for these two and added a few new twists to change it up. Dean and Victoria had tons of chemistry and tons of sexual tension. Victoria was actually pretty awesome (shocker I know if we follow stereotypes!) even if I was wanting her story. I also liked Dean. Super sweet, sexy, and crazy protective. I loved them together and was rooting for them despite the obstacles that they had to face.

I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book because I have never read a book featuring a female CEO and the hero to be an employee of the heroine. It was such a fun twist as well as empowering women everywhere. We got Victoria who is so stubborn, wanting nothing but to carry on the legacy of her family's business that she is willing to risk her life to carry out the daily functions of the business. And then we have our hero, Dean who struggles with keeping his needs for Victoria.

The best part? When Victoria begs Dean to have her because he's reluctant to start something crazy with his boss. Usually, in stories it would feature a guy dominating the girl but it was nice to see it flipped and have the man kind of being logical and go, no. No, this is a bad idea even if it feels sooooooooooooooooo good.

I also really enjoyed the action in this book too.

Definitely Different

She's the boss except in the bedroom. He's HOT, hard working, self sacrificing and raising his younger sister. Lots of intrigue. A few glitches in proofreading, no cheating or cliffhanger, some steamy intimacy scenes and you get a happy ending. Enjoy

Handy handyman . . .
Overall 4 out of 5 stars
Performance 4 out of 5 stars
Story 3 out of 5 stars

There was something more to Dean than just being able to do just about anything. He was a deeper man with more on the line than just paying bills. Victoria Greene was CEO in control. She was smart, sexy, savvy and at times clueless. These two have an adventure of multiple attempts on Victoria's life and a few romps in between.

Reid Kerr did a very good job with the narration. The clarity and quality were good.

I have to admit, I kind of like that the woman was the billionaire in this situation. And I like the humble dude sometimes too so Dean and Victoria were really kind of perfect.

Also her just going after what she wanted with him? A++ I do wish he had been more actual bodyguard than just “big guy tagging along” but I still really liked Dean and his sister Katy.

I will say… the ending got a little awkward. I don’t mind the ILY after the near death but the author went about it in just about the most awkward way possible.

The book was enjoyable though so solid three stars.

Enjoyable

This is a wonderful story. Dean is raising his little sister since his parents died, he's worked multiple jobs to make they have a good over their heads and a little money for her for college. Victoria is running her family company after her dad heart attack and her brothers mess up. She is having an appreciation dinner for employees when the first attack happens & Dean saved her life. It only goes from there.

Tempting The Boss a Tempting Adventure

I enjoyed this book as a romance and as an action-adventure. The mystery was engaging as well. The eroticism was hot and the characters were likable. I loved the h-e-a ending. The only thing I disliked was the author's ponderous phrasing occasionally.

I find this story very interesting and the suspense was really good too. I also was surprised about the ending too. I was not expecting it, although it could be quite obvious.

I finished the book but it took forever! This book is written very poorly and I’m pretty sure the 2 main characters are bi-polar. Too much explanation on things that didn’t need to be explained. And very predictable. It was all just a little strange.

Good read

Most of the books you read have a similar theme- but this story is unique. The book tells the tale of falling in love, but as life comes along your heart chooses what it wants. It doesn't matter where you come from, but where you going and who you want to be with.

Too many typos

I liked the main characters. The person behind Victoria's death threats seemed very obvious for a long time. For some odd reason, the quotation marks doubled before or after certain dialogue. It was very distracting.

Temptation

Some temptations are hard to resist says the cover. When beauty and money are involved, falling in love is so easy. And when the person you fall for is in danger, its difficult to stay away.

What a new twist on this book. Having a female as a CEO and a billionaire to boot made this fun to read. Hope you get it and enjoy it as much as me.

While I enjoyed this book I think it was a little farfetched for a common laborer to romance and win a wealthy women ceo.
