Jason Spatafore was born and raised in the Southwestern United States. Throughout high school, he had an affinity for writing. When he entered the working world via the typical fast-food trail he: stopped writing, met the woman of his dreams, raised her child as his own, and switched careers to the technology sector.
A few years after the first child left the nest, and upon gaining another child due to undesirable circumstances, he decided he would like to change his career again, this time reverting to his original dream he had in high school: writing.
Due to a comment from a co-worker in March of 2014, Jason started writing Aphrodite's Acolyte, the first in what he hopes will be a long series of fantasy novels. Aphrodite's Acolyte was action packed and published three months later on June 26th.
Jason is an avid Disneyland fan, loving father and husband, and successful geek.
Pros - Much more character development than the last one - Great continuity between the books so far - Much more description of the environment - I absolutely loved the spiral staircase and floating elven town! - Several twists make you wonder who will die in the end
Cons - Slower pace (I liked the faster pace of book one, but I'll deal) - You better give Fidel his skills back. Just sayin'
And here's the summary for people who like to know.
It's a typical fantasy sword and sorcery book. But I love those so it gets my five stars. Can't wait for the next one!
Pretty good in my opinion, although I have not had the opportunity to read the first book in the series. Even though I hadn't read the first book it wasn't difficult to understand who the characters were and why they were going on the adventures they did. I thought Fidel could have been better shaped all around. He's definitely no Drizzt. The characters were likeable however, and I enjoyed the blending of fantasy with our own ancient mythologies. All in all a really decent fantasy novel that makes me excited to read the rest of the series. Very much so worth the read.
Good continuation of the story from the first book. First half is a bit slow but it picks up well in the second half. You get more interaction and back story of some of the characters which gives the reader a better perspective on how each one thinks and where their powers/talents originated from. Worth the read. I suggest reading the "Gods of Maserum" first. It is a free short story that give more back story on the gods and their choices on creating the world and gifts to elf/man/dwarf.
