Craig Donovan is a man who has everything going for him; a loving wife, a beautiful daughter and his dream job as a pastor of a successful megachurch. Living in a lavish mansion you would think that Pastor Donovan has it all but what goes on behind the four walls of their mansion will rock the world and could destroy his pristine reputation.
Craig has secrets from his past that could destroy everything he has been working so hard for should it be made public. First Lady Donovan has an image to protect and she will stop at nothing to ensure that they keep their good name regardless of what is happening to her marriage or her relationship with her daughter. She doesn’t care who she has to run over or walk on to get what she wants.
Armani Donovan is stuck between two parents who want different things which cause her to be confused at times. She finds comfort in the arms of her boyfriend but when tragedy strikes will the couple be able to keep their relationship in tact? What will happen if the congregation discovers all the secrets that are being kept from them? Will Craig maintain control of his megachurch or will he lose everything?
Really good book kept me interested. Only problem was there were wayyyyyyyyyy too many exclamation marks! Nearly every single Damn sentence ended in exclamation as if everyone just yells or talks with excitement. It wasn't needed nearly as much as it was used. Will be reading part two though to see what happens to Imani
To begin, I like the storyline. But, I wasn't happy with the book. The characters were not true to themselves. It is obvious that the story wasn't flushed with the proper editors. The story could have been so much better if a developmental editor and line editor had actually sat down and edited this book. The author needs to work on showing vs telling. A reader doesn't want to be told what is happening but instead we want authors to show us. The fact that this was a full length novel and there is still a part 2 means that this story wasn't flushed. A lot of stuff could have been cut so that the story could be told from beginning to end in one story. Part 2 and Part 3 of a book isn't the same thing as Book 2 or Book 3 in a series. There were way to many talking heads. The grammar/spelling was horrible. Please note that I know that some terms used were slang but there were still a lot of grammar/spelling issues that should have been caught. I'm interested in knowing what happens with this family but, I don't see myself buying and reading Part 2 because of the way Part 1 was horribly written. This book receives a 1 star review.
Great read...to say this family was dysfunctional is an understatement. If the congregation only knew...Imani's "fix it" tactics were unbelievable...great characters-each with their own set of secrets & a well written storyline has me looking forward to reading the next part of Secrets Behind Closed Doors!
Damn!!!! I definitely wasn't expecting the book to be an emotional roller coaster lol.I feel so bad for Armani because her mom is so damn annoyed n messed up.Like how r u like that to everyone in your life.Imani was damn bitter it was ridiculous.Craig needs happiness n I hope he gets it.Leo is a good guy n I'm happy for him and Armani.Damn I wasn't expecting that to happen to Imani I don't wish that on no one at all.Dominique is a trip I'm glad she didn't slap ole girl. That ending was cray i can't wait for part two
I enjoyed the book from beginning to end. You would think the pastor and first lady has the perfect life. Things are different behind closed doors. First Lady Donovan go to extreme measures to keep outsiders thinking they are the perfect family. Pastor Donovan has some secrets too. This book was very good. Loved the characters and the storyline
There were so many damn secrets behind closed doors and they were straight up ridiculous. One always assumes the first family has the picture perfect life not realizing they possess the most secrets. Imani stayed worrying about the wrong thing and succeeded in pushing her family away. Her selfishness caused one too many problems. Lawd Armani little grown ass needed a good beating. She really pissed me off when she lied to Leo and it took 2 years for her to reveal the truth. I just couldn't deal with Craig and his shenanigans. He should've learned from his dealings with Patrice but yet again he was up to no good. Dominique was too thirsty and had the nerve to get mad. Girl have several seats and find someone else. I felt bad for Imani considering everything she had to experience behind Armani's actions. The secrets behind closed doors always have a way of coming out and destroying even the strongest person. Hopefully Imani will be fine, those involved in her downfall will get what they deserved, Craig will realize he's making a mistake, and Armani's fast ass will have a breakthrough and slow down.
This is was a good read Imani is a piece of work at times I felt like she needed to be 302 .. Most of the problems she creates with her constant nagging .. She didn't care about nobody's else's feeling but her own and the image of the church .. I wished that her and her daughter could have had a better relationship.. Her daughter would have had catch the hands a couple of times because of her mouth .. But sometimes I sided with the daughter on certain situations.. Although I could see why pastor stepped out on her I was hoping that he was gone come to her rescue.. But all In all I think Imani needs to seek counseling cause she had deeper rooted issue .. And a couple of times I wanted to reach threw the book and smack her ..I'm looking forward to see part 2 and I would recommend this book
In enjoyed the book from beginning to end.. You would think This pastor and first lady had the perfect life. You're in for a rude of waking!! First Lady Donovan go to extreme measures to keep outsiders think in they are the perfect ill family.. oh goodness she does some ruthless things!! Pastor Donovan has some secrets too!! Will have u speechless can't wait until part 2 drops
Imani will do anything to protect her family image. She didn't realize how her insecurities pushed her husband Craig into another woman arms. She did poor Patrice dirty. Armani is such a sweet good just looking for love even through she got Leo under false pretenses he still loves her. Imani shouldn't done her daughter that way. Even though I don't condone what happened to her but she did need to get a little karma
I was not able to read this book was a waste of my money first Iine in book filled with profanity I like CHRISTIAN fiction that doesn't use language as this book does, so not a good book to me I don't use profanity. Will not purchase another book by authors.): ): ):
This book was a good read however I was a little confused with it... I didn't know what genre this was supposed to be with it including a preacher etc.... There was ALOT of cussing and sex that it had me so confused.... But don't get me wrong it was really good just think it should've been a little more calmer with the cussing and sex
Craig Donovan gives preachers a bad name. He is an adulterer. His wife Imani is one selfish woman. She is not worried about her family, she is only worried about upholding her image as The First Lady. She got knocked off her pedestal.
This is definitely a must read. It was great from beginning to end. I would recommend everyone that loves a good book to check it out. I can't wait for part 2...Great job ladies...
This book was written with the First Lady being the villain and most hated person in story. Very different angle but made for an interesting read. Excited to get part 2 this weekend and find out the fate of the First Lady and the family that seems to more than ready to get rid of her.
An emotional roller-coaster of a read. Pastor craig and his family may look like the perfect family from the outside looking in. But you'd never believe the drama that happens behind closed doors.
