The protagonist, Haruo, has a past history of losing his brother in an accident that should have saved him, and out of a sense of redemption, he finds a job at a venture company that makes rescue and disaster drones. One day, as part of his work, he encounters a massive earthquake in WANOKUNI, a city for the disabled. He sets out on an unprecedented mission to save Nakagawa Hiromi, who is blind and deaf, stranded in an underground danger zone.
The film's appeal is its unique tension and moving story. Haruo's struggle to save Nakagawa Hiromi is tense and unstoppable. The process of how he leads her to a shelter in an absolute labyrinth where neither light nor sound can reach is very interesting.
I myself was very impressed by the film's blend of technical descriptions and human drama. In particular, the drone rescue scene made me feel as if I was there. The depiction of how the power of technology and human bonds can create miracles was very realistic and moving.
The film is also very interesting in its depiction of fear, exploration of the unknown, and human bonds. Haruo's efforts to save Nakagawa Hiromi while dealing with the loss of his brother resonated deeply with me.
An unexpected twist awaits at the end of the story, and the last five pages are so moving that I couldn't read them without tears. I liked the fact that there was no extra epilogue at all, and the end was left to the imagination after tears.
It was alright. I think I hyped it up too much from other ppl’s reviews. There were a lot of scientific terms that made me tired to read lol. Like I didn’t have the mental capacity right now to read all those terms lol (very stressful month lol)
