How far would you go to keep your deepest darkest secret buried?

Dual Timeline
- The Past

Lily recently lost her father from a heart attack and was sent away to school by her stepmother where she knows absolutely no one. She instantly becomes friends with her roommate, Clementine. The other girls at the school are mean, rich girls that like to torment Lily and Clem. Something happens during Lily’s time at this school that continues to haunt her later in life.

-Now

Lily is desperate to escape her crazy, stalker ex boyfriend and her friends have invited her on a getaway to a beautiful lakehouse but her dark past continues to haunt her. And now there’s a dangerous storm, they’re stuck in the house and a lady shows up in the middle of the night with accusations from the past.

The darkest secrets always come to the light.

💭 To say I was drawn in from the start is an understatement. I honestly could not put this book down! The dual timelines had me hooked. It was like reading two amazingly different books at one time. I loved reading Lily’s past life and all that went on at Wrenwood Academy. I felt like I was really there with Lily.

This book I highly recommend!!
The end twist slapped me so hard and I loved it 🤣
Such an amazing book, full of secrets and twists!
Total page turner. So fast paced!
Read in one day!

I really enjoyed Liv Lowry’s debut, Pretty Dead Things, but Your Deepest, Darkest Secret is on another level entirely! This is exactly the kind of thriller I love to read. Twisty, emotional, addictive and completely impossible to predict. Every time I thought I’d worked out what was happening, Liv pulled the rug out from under me again. By the end, I had genuine whiplash from the twists!

For me, the boarding school timeline fifteen years earlier was the standout. I absolutely loved following Lily and Clem’s friendship, and I was utterly invested in uncovering the secrets surrounding the school and one incredibly twisted family. The way Liv slowly unravelled everything was brilliant. When the reveals across both timelines started colliding and completely changed my understanding of what I’d read, I genuinely had to stop and process what had just happened.

This is a book that starts strong, and then the pacing just ramps up. On my second sitting with it, I’d read 16 chapters in half an hour. The short chapters, dual timeline structure and such an engaging story just keep you magnetised to the pages.

Beneath all the twists and shocks, this is also a story about friendship, grief, loss and revenge. It’s that balance between shocking twists and genuine emotion that made this such an easy five-star read for me.

I really enjoyed Pretty Dead Things, but Your Deepest, Darkest Secret has raised the bar even higher. Liv has delivered everything I want from a thriller with this one, and I already can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!

After escaping an obsessive ex-boyfriend, Lily joins her friends for a weekend away at a secluded lake house, hoping for a fresh start. But when long-buried secrets begin surfacing, what was meant to be an escape quickly becomes a fight to uncover the truth before it’s too late.

Liv Lowry has done it again. I loved every single moment of this book, and somehow I enjoyed it even more than Pretty Dead Things - which was already a five-star read for me.

The tension is relentless from beginning to end. Even in the quieter moments, there was an underlying sense of unease that kept me turning the pages, never quite trusting what was coming next. Every reveal felt earned, and I was completely invested from the opening chapter.

What I loved most, though, is that beneath the psychological thriller is an incredibly emotional story. This isn’t just about secrets and suspense - it’s also about grief and tragedy, finding family in unexpected places, and learning how to keep living after unimaginable loss. Those emotional threads gave the story so much depth and made the characters feel wonderfully real.

Liv Lowry has quickly become an auto-read author for me, and if this is the standard she’s setting with only her second novel, I genuinely can’t wait to see what she writes next.

ARC REVIEW: Liv has done it again! 👏 Your Deepest Darkest Secret will have you staying up way past your bedtime because it’s impossible to put down! It will have you guessing the entire time, and you’ll still be shocked (trust me)! The amount of times I thought “what! 😱” are countless. It’s twisty & creepy, and will play with your emotions. Grudges are a dangerous thing. How far would you go to protect the ones you love? Everyone has secrets… EVERYONE.

Wow… what an incredible read!

I’m still trying to process everything I just finished.

Your Deepest Darkest Secrets grabbed me from the very first page and never let go. The pacing is lightning fast, the suspense is razor sharp, and every chapter left me desperate to know what would happen next. I flew through this book because putting it down simply wasn’t an option.

This story is packed with shocking twists, dark secrets, and an atmosphere of tension that intensifies with every page. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another revelation completely changed everything. It’s the kind of thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end.

I absolutely loved Liv Lowry’s writing style. It’s seamless, clever, and incredibly immersive, making it easy to lose yourself in the story. The multiple POVs and dual timelines add even more depth and intrigue, creating a puzzle that was both fascinating and impossible to solve ahead of time.

If you love dark, addictive, and completely unpredictable thrillers, this is one you won’t want to miss. I’ll definitely be picking up more books by Liv Lowry soon.

Thank you so much to Liv Lowry also to Books and Bloom PR for the eARC. All opinions are my own.

Lily Matthews has recently broken up with her overly obsessive boyfriend, and is desperate to get away. When her friend Sloane suggests a girls weekend away at her family’s lake house, Lily jumps at the chance to escape to a place where Julian can’t find her. She’s trying desperately to have a great time with her friends when she gets a text from an unknown number: Found you. Then, there’s a knock at the door…

I absolutely loved this book. The twists were amazing and not too outlandish. The book was genuinely hard to put down. If you like secrets, secluded settings, and books where you can’t trust a soul, you need to pick this one up.

YA? Psychological suspense? Thriller? Honestly, it doesn’t matter—it nails them all.

Every time I thought I’d figured it out, another twist landed. Even the reveals I didn’t know were coming somehow caught me completely off guard. I kept waiting for a plot hole to appear, but it never did.

The cast is brilliantly connected, and the boarding school setting felt so authentic it had me reliving my own boarding school days.

And that epilogue? I didn’t think I needed it, but it landed perfectly. It completely reframed the story in the best way.

Even the title, Your Deepest Darkest Secret, becomes more meaningful the longer you sit with it. It ties into the story so cleverly that I found myself thinking about it long after I finished.

I couldn’t put it down.

It has taken me two days to recover from the impact of this book before I felt ready to write this review. This is Liv's second book after the remarkable Pretty Dead Things and somehow this one was even better!

I was hooked within 20 pages and 7 hours later I had finished. That is basically unheard of for me but I had to put all of my life responsibilities to one side because I could not put it down.

The way the author writes descriptions of settings and locations is nothing short of masterful. She has a particular gift for using metaphors to describe colours and it just makes for such enjoyable and engaging reading.

As with her previous book, Liv has managed to instill such a strong narrative voice in the main character Lily. It is genuinely like you can hear her talking in your head, which is an incredible feeling. I was also a big fan of Clem, and the dynamic between her and Lily really powers the book.

Wrenwood, the boarding school that serves as the setting for the past timeline (15 years earlier) is so vivid. There are lots of hints as to the events that might have happened there and there is a constant ominous feeling that something bad is about to happen.

In the present timeline, Lily has retreated to a remote cabin (which just so happens to be near to Wrenwood) with two on her friends in an attempt to get away from an ex who is sending threatening messages.

I enjoyed how the author sometimes ends a chapter with some sort of foreboding phrase such as "Nothing can hurt us here". As soon as I saw this, I just knew that the exact opposite was going to be true.

I was enjoying reading this book so much that I wouldn't have even minded if there weren't any major twists but Liv clearly didn't agree and proceeded to blow my mind over and over again. By the end, I could barely work out how to turn the pages, there was so much going on. It might be the twistiest book I've ever read and I saw absolutely none of them coming.

Even after 7 hours of continuous reading, if you'd have offered me another Liv Lowry book immediately afterwards I would have probably read it cover to cover, foregoing meals, sleep, work and any other distractions.

This author is without a doubt in my writer hall of fame and I absolutely cannot wait to see what else she comes up with in the future.

If I had to describe this book in one word it would be 'phenomenal'!

After reading Pretty Dead Things I really vibed with Liv's way of storytelling. She eases you in and then pulls the rug out from under your feet over and over again. What I truly love about her books is that her twists have twists...and those twists have twists of their own.

One thing this book isn't is predictable. I had a few moments when I thought yeah I know what's going on here, but Liv just laughed and said guess again!

I was left open mouthed, reconsidering everything and saying "wait...what?!?!?" repeatedly.

The book had me going through the full spectrum of emotions, from sadness to full on anger as there were some truly despicable characters. I really love when I can hate a character because it really propels the story along.

Told from multiple povs and across two timelines - 15 years ago and the present day - the foundations for this story are built slowly. There was enough action in those early chapters, though, to keep me engaged and invested. They were short and bingeable, alternating between povs, so it was easy to convince myself that I would just read one more chapter (which turned into my blasting through it less than 12 hours after it dropped into my inbox!).

This was such a tense, suspenseful and highly-addictive read, with a really creepy undertone throughout. Liv did an incredible job of wrapping such an intricate narrative web in the fanciest bow I have ever seen! I am still reeling now thinking about that ending.

I had to sit really still in silence immediately after finishing it - my brain needed the time to process the wild ride I had just been on. I honestly felt hungover.

Your Deepest Darkest secret is truly excellent. Think Girls Trip with a killer twist! If you love a book that keeps you guessing, this is definitely the one for you. Add it to your tbr immediately.

The biggest thank you to Liv Lowry and Books and Bloom Pr for this complimentary copy all opinions are my own and are being left voluntarily.

This is my second book by Liv Lowry, and I was ecstatic to be chosen for her ARC team!

Thank you to the author for providing this #ARC via Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

First, her covers are total showstoppers. They ooze with dark, sinister energy that runs through every page of this story.

Lily Matthews never had it easy. Life was tough, but she and her dad made it work. Then a sudden windfall of money after a work injury brought a stepmother into the mix, and everything changed. When her father passes away (which Lily finds a little suspicious), her stepmother wastes no time shipping her off to Wrenwood Academy, an elite boarding school. The lady doesn’t have a heart. 🖤

Once Lily gets to know her roommate, Clem, things quickly spiral. Clem is likable, but she’s a total wildcard. Like Lily, she doesn’t fit in with the rich kids at Wrenwood, and she’s had a rough life. Their friendship is full of tension, and their incidents at school are the delicious kind thriller fans crave.

We also get a peek at Lily later in life, when she finally finds a friend who isn’t a walking red flag. I love dual timelines. That’s when the twists really start rolling in, and there’s one you’ll never see coming. I love it when a thriller manages to surprise me, and this one nailed it.

Once Lily got to the academy, I could not put this book down. I was flying through the pages, trying to figure out where the story was headed and desperate to know who was hiding the darkest secrets.

I definitely recommend this one to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers or mysteries with a sinister edge.

”Tell me your deepest, darkest secret. Because I know you have one.”

This story grabbed me from the very first page and didn’t let go til the last! I have to give the twistiest thriller award to Your Deepest, Darkest Secret.🏆 It is definitely one of the most shocking I’ve read in a long time!! At two of the most twisty reveals, I quite literally sat with my mouth hanging open and just stared at the wall for a minute. Liv, you really got me! I was fooled, and after reading hundreds of thrillers I don’t get fooled easily! And the twists kept coming folks. The story is so convoluted, I dare any reader to figure it all out. I could not put this book down! The short chapters and break-neck pacing will have you flipping pages til you reach the end. The alternating timelines and different points of view tell two intriguing stories that converge together to wrap up the ending and all secrets are revealed.

I loved the friendship between Lily and Clem! It starts out a bit rocky as new roommates at Wrenwood Academy but eventually turns into a ride or die relationship. At some points it gets a little muddled and had me thinking about whether someone might be lying.🤔 I waffled back and forth wondering who was responsible for what. At certain times everyone seems to be a suspect. Have fun trying to figure it all out!

This is such a fantastic story from start to finish and I loved every minute of it. You will want to get your hands on this book just as soon as it becomes available!

✨A huge thank you to Liv Lowry for allowing me to be part of her ARC team and for the honor of reading this book early!

Your Deepest Darkest Secret is a book full of so many secrets! Literally every character seems to have one and they're all pretty dark, and I am so here for it! This book was not messing around, it was all go from the offset, when FMC Lily Matthews embarks on a weekend away that turns into a nightmare.

As the story moves on we are treated to a dual timeline, both present day and fifteen years previously, when the characters were school aged and students at an elite boarding school. I must say I love a bit of dark academia so the past timeline was my personal favourite part of the book! The story mainly follows Lily and best friend Clem during their time at boarding school, right up until it burned down. I loved both of these characters and was really rooting for them, even if some of their choices were a tad extreme! 🫣

I haven't even begun to process the amount of twists there are in this book, right when I think I have some of it sussed, something else is being revealed, sometimes things I hadn't even considered possible! There is truly nothing I like more than a thriller that keeps me guessing and my jaw on the floor (which it was for basically the final 20% of the book!)

You'd better believe this is going straight on my 'recommend to everyone' list!

Some tropes for your perusal:

🖤Dual Timeline
🖤Dark Academia Vibes
🖤Isolated setting
🖤Gaslighting
🖤Everyone is a suspect
🖤Buried Secrets

Holy smokes... this book had my heart racing from start to finish! This was my very first thriller ARC, and I couldn't put it down. I finished it in just two days.

Every chapter pulled me in deeper, and just when I thought I had everything figured out, another shocking twist completely changed the game. The ending? I never saw it coming. If there's one thriller that deserves to be adapted into a movie, it's this one.

Lily Matthews is trying to outrun both an obsessive ex and the painful secrets of her past. A girls' getaway to a remote lake house in the Adirondacks seems like the perfect escape—until a mysterious woman arrives during a storm with a terrifying accusation. A girl disappeared years ago, someone inside the house knows the truth, and the past is about to catch up with them all.

With dual timelines, nonstop suspense, and secrets unraveling at every turn, this psychological thriller kept me guessing until the very last page. If you love fast-paced mysteries where everyone is a suspect and nothing is what it seems, add this one to your TBR.

🖤 Atmospheric • Twisted • Gripping 🖤

This thriller completely consumed my day. I sat down to start reading and ended up finishing it in a single day, only stopping long enough to make lunch. Every chapter left me needing to know what happened next, making it nearly impossible to put down.

Set against the backdrop of the Adirondacks, the story follows a mystery that slowly unravels through dual timelines, revealing secrets, betrayals, and long-buried truths. The isolated setting adds an extra layer of tension, creating an atmosphere that feels unsettling from the very first page.

I loved Liv Lowry's debut novel, but somehow she managed to make this one even better. The pacing is relentless, the suspense keeps building, and every new revelation raises the stakes. Just when I thought I understood where the story was headed, another twist sent me in a completely different direction. It's the kind of psychological thriller that keeps you guessing while making it impossible to stop reading.

🌟 Rating: 4.75/5(rounded up to 5)

I would recommend this for anyone who likes a fast-paced, plot-drive psychological thriller!

As expected for the genre, the mental unraveling starts early on with the fear of a stalker coupled with bad memories resurfacing from back in boarding school. This is coupled with short chapters that keep you wanting more, two timelines (present day and fifteen years ago in boarding school), and a perfectly atmospheric setting (isolation, big storm, etc).

But it’s the twists and turns of this one that really made it shine. In some ways you knew they were coming - the two timelines had to converge somehow - but I never saw them coming together the way they did. I love when a mystery or thriller can really surprise me while still being true to the rest of the plot!

Lastly, I would be remiss in not commenting on Lily and Clem’s friendship. Though seemingly an unlikely duo, I loved watching their friendship develop and how they supported each other in different ways.

Thanks to Liv Lowry for providing me with an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

I’m not creeped out reading this in the dead of night - You are!

There are twists and turns in this book than hairpin turns driving up a mountain. I tried to guess the books next move a few times, and I was wrong in every instance. Thank. Goodness! Because the predictability was nonexistent. 🙌🏼

I loved Clem and Lily’s relationship. It was more of a sisterhood borne from a trauma bond from their tragic teen years to their experiences at Wrenwood. The secrets they share run deep but haven’t destroyed them (thank god) and the last 4 chapters and then the Epilogue had me second guessing EVERYTHING about these two. But side note, Clem during Lily’s academy years is a badass and I love everything about her, chef’s kiss, no notes.

Overall, this was a great thriller. It creeped me out in a good way, kept me on my toes and gave me no hints at what was around the corner, and I found it to be one of my favorites of 2026.

Thank you to the author, Liv Lowry, and Books & Bloom PR for the early copy! Thoroughly enjoyed this! Release date is expected to be July 31st, 2026.

I just love her style so much. If you love fast paced, psychological thrillers which keep throwing the twists at you? Then you will love her books too.

Set in a dual timeline, boarding school & Adulthood.
Merging the two to tell the most chilling story.
Nice length chapters keeping me focused and wanting to know what’s coming next.
I honestly find myself sat open mouthed in shock every time. Not just once, multiple times. I think something is going to happen and I am always so wrong, in a good way?!
I don’t trust the characters (everyone is suspect) and I don’t trust Liv .. as an Author of this genre that’s a pretty good thing 😂✨

Have you ever read a book that had so many twists that you could barely keep up, yet you also couldn’t stop reading either?

This book had me in a literal choke hold all night! I had to know how this story would end...

Following Lily in two timelines, at 15 and 30, both timelines have mysteries to solve. Once you learn that there somehow is an overlap in these mysteries, you’ll be so hooked you won’t have any choice but to read faster. And every mystery will be completely unraveled by the end Don’t worry if afterwards you need some time to process it all. It’s necessary!

This is an incredible, twisty, gripping, shocking psychological thriller and 100% worth reading.

P.S. This would make for one epic movie!!

Can we say twisty?!
First off, the cover alone was why I couldn’t wait to start reading—it had me absolutely desperate to get my eyes on what was inside. (And now I definitely need to snag a physical copy for my shelf!)
There’s nothing like a stormy night to set the mood, and this was such a grabbing, addictive thriller. The interwoven past and present kept me totally hooked. I loved the constant shift between trying to figure out what happened then, while simultaneously wondering "how on earth did we get here now?!"
My mind was completely blown by some of the unexpected turns happening in this one. I found myself completely glued to the pages, unable to stop reading. Add this to your mid-summer TBR immediately!

This book is suspenseful with a capital S 😮‍💨 Liv Lowry packs a punch with this psychological thriller with enough twists to give you whiplash! The writing is so atmospheric and clever. I flew through this book because I didn’t want to stop reading until I got to the end, and then the ending knocks your feet out from under you with one unexpected twist after another. I haven’t had this much plot-twist-whiplash since Alice Feeney or Freida McFadden! This was an absolutely incredible read from start to finish. The dual POV’s (before & now) created a perfect build up to an almighty reveal. Just when I had my jaw on the floor from the first twist, Liv hit me with a second AND a third, none of which I saw coming! If you enjoyed The Only One Left and The Housemaid, then you are going to want this book in your hand when it releases July 31st. Thank you so much for the ARC it was an absolute PLEASURE!

Thank you so much for the ARC!

This book was soooo good! Clem and Lily's friendship was amazing, and I loved the different time lines from when they were in school, to when they were adults. Lily goes to a house with her friends, for a girls weekend and it brings up the past from her school days at wrenwood. She meets clem, and they instantly become good friends. Alot of twists and turns, in this book. My mouth dropped so many times, because I wasn't expecting the twists at the end. I loved it. Thank you Liv for giving me the opportunity to be an ARC reader for your new book.

After reading Liv's first book, Pretty Dead Things, I just had to request a copy of this ARC. And it did not disappoint!
This book had me gripped from start to finish. The dual timeline was done so well with cliffhangers between the now and then. It kept me hooked and I just had to read more.
The twists were amazing and the characters were intriguing. The building of the background of each person just added to the story and there are character to love and to hate within this book.
I can't recommend this book enough! Thank you Liv Lowry and Books and Bloom for allowing me to read this early.

Your Deepest, Darkest Secret is a fantastic thriller that had me up last night, constantly looking out the windows. There were so many twists and turns, I never knew what was going to happen next. The dual timelines, moving between past and present, really pulled me in and kept the story moving. It felt like a rollercoaster of emotions the whole way through. It’s a story of revenge, girl friendships, and how buried secrets always find their way to the surface. I read this in one sitting and that ending still has me completely flabbergasted. Thanks to Bloom&BooksPR and Liv Lowry for the ARC
