What happens when a good girl goes bad? A bad boy just might fall in love...
Say the name Dixon in the tiny town of Crestwood, Kentucky, and everyone knows who you’re talking about--the white trash family of criminals that resides on the edge of town. Eldest brother Darby is serving a life sentence. Middle child Daniel and the youngest Derek look like they’ll be headed up the creek as well, in good time.
Say the name Fontaine in the tiny town of Crestwood, Kentucky, and a completely different picture comes to mind--church bells, bible study, and passionate sermons from a pulpit. Beatrice ‘Trixie’ Fontaine is the minister’s daughter, a golden girl with a good head on her shoulders. Except when it comes to Daniel Dixon, that is.
Daniel Dixon isn’t content to live out the life that his family has planned for him. He’s got an altogether different sort of life mapped out for he and his younger brother… but that doesn’t mean it’s on the right side of the law.
Now all grown up and living in New York City, Beatrice Fontaine doesn’t know it, but their worlds are about to collide in a major way. This good girl is about to find out just how much she likes being bad...
Lavender Parker is an avid reader of romance novels and erotica. Having grown tired of the predictable and often white-washed mainstream romance novels available, she decided to try her hand at writing the kind of stories she wanted to read. Lavender's hot heroes and heroines come in all shades and all ethnicities! She recently completed her first novel in the St. James Family series, Kiss of Ice.
Lavender currently lives with her long-term boyfriend and slightly neurotic dog in the colorful New York City borough of Queens. When on break from her day job in reality television, she also likes to write screenplays and produce low-budget films.
I was really looking forward to this book. I knew it would be a cliffhanger but I didn't expect to get a quarter of a book. I'm really peeved. A cliffhanger is supposed to be a full story with a cliffhanger not a full book cut into quarters.
anyway, what I did read was excellent. I hope it's not too long a wait for the next instalment.
Pointless. Why didn’t author just wait to release one full book? This snippet was in no way fulfilling. Promising plot but needed way more material to be considered any kind of standalone novella.
One big tease!!!! Damn you Lavender Parker lol... Got me all into this for it to end like that!
Who is Daniel Dixon and what the hell did he do??? Query the soap opera music....
This is a 4-part serial, and this installment is the background to Beatrice's (Trixie) and Daniel's humble beginnings. Set in the backwoods of Kentucky, this story begins when Trixie and Daniel are teens. She's the goody two shoe daughter of a prominent preacher, and he's the bad boy hick who lives in a dirty trailer with his racist, shiftless parents and younger brother.
Fast forward 17 years and Trixie is a high powered attorney on the come up, and Daniel is well... We don't know!!! All we do know is he's in jail and he only wants Trixie to represent him. He obviously has loot and position but how he obtained it is a big mystery. Kept me reading to the end...
Hope the author doesn't take all year (snark) to release parts 2, 3, and 4...
I loved this book from the first paragraph! The characters, even as children, were well thought out and well written. I've read every book by LP and her writing just gets better and better. She brings you in these characters world but don't over do it with long descriptions of places, people, outfits etc. It's natural not forced.
This book is abt 70 pgs long and took me less then an hour to read but has me super impatient for the next one! I can't wait to see what unfolds for the boys from the wrong side of the tracks. The Dixon brothers already have me wrapped around their fingers! *swoon*
If this is the first installment of this series then I am definitely hooked. This is such a great first part that looks to be a wonderful series.I am all in with the chemistry between Daniel and Beatrice it's sweet and sexy all in one.I can't wait for the next installment ,just hope it doesn't take to long.
I have a love-hate relationship with good serials, and this is shaping up to be a good one. The storyline is clear and the characters are realistic, easy to empathize with, and manage to be intriguing. I hope the author does not make the readers wait forever until the next installment. For my Grammar Nazis- the mistakes are minimal.
I enjoyed this book. There was much chemistry between Daniel & Beatrice. The ending came to soon. I only hope the series will continue & there won't be a long wait between each book since they are going to be short. GREAT START...
I regret reading this book...because now I want to read the other parts so badly and they aren't available. I think this venture by Lavender Parker was absolutely marvellous. So far I have enjoyed everything that she has written. As you can guess, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.
