I will say that I love all of Maria’s books (I’ve read every single one!), so I’m a little biased since she’s one of my all time favorite authors.
That being said, I absolutely loved her latest, The Troll!
Chloe is a bookfluencer who has made quite the name for herself on Instagram. Loving the attention, money, and enjoyment of reading books for a living, she couldn’t be happier, especially when she’s about to meet her very favorite author in person.
But…she then encounters a troll who is making rude and concerning comments on her posts under fake profiles, including disturbing emojis.
Chloe’s concern escalates when she realizes that the creep may be actually close by and not just online only.
This book was awesome! It was very fast paced with lots of intrigue and a major twist that I didn’t see at all coming…I actually gasped out loud!
As always with Maria’s novels, I love the character development and appreciate the short chapters and how they have varying points of view.
Literally couldn’t put this one down! Whether you’re a long time Maria Frankland fan or new to her work, don’t miss this one!

Wow! What an intense and twisty story! “The Troll” had me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. An online troll turning into a real-life stalker makes this a frighteningly relevant story for today’s world. It’s fast paced, suspenseful, and full of morally gray characters that kept me questioning what’s right and wrong and, most importantly, what would I do in this situation? I thoroughly enjoy her writing, and this one definitely kept me hooked!

Another winner from one of my favourite psychological thriller authors.
Totally scary, and thought provoking, the book is about various people being trolled online.
How do you identify someone who threatens you from behind a keyboard?
There are ways to mask your IP address, and social media platforms make it easy to have several accounts.
There were quite a few suspects, and I decided to randomly choose one. I turned out to be right, much to my surprise.
Twisty mysterious, suspenseful, this is a quick and gripping read.
Based on the author's own experience with online trolls, it makes a really fabulous plot.
A solid 5/5 stars.

What can I say?! She did it again.
I freaking loved this. Yet another “just one more chapter before I have to pretend to be a somewhat functioning adult and do adult stuff” situation… which obviously ended with me reading the entire damn book like an unhinged, desperate-to-find-out-if-I-was-right reading gremlin. Was I right? Yeah. Yeah, I was.
Did that ruin the fun? Absolutely not.
Because this woman is talented. She writes in a way that turns me into this tiny, annoying, thrill-seeking mosquito, buzzing around desperately needing to know everything about everyone.
Some characters I loved immediately. Some I admired… and maybe even envied a little. And some? I just wanted to slap them silly. You’ll know who once you start reading.
And NO. I refuse to say more.
I will not be one of those reading-fun-ruining goblins. You’re going to have to discover this one yourself.
If you’re looking for another fabulous, fast-paced psychological thriller from Maria Frankland — the kind you start “just to read a chapter” and suddenly it’s hours later and you’ve finished the damn thing — grab this one.

This was another amazing book by Maria!! I really love how this book was inspired by the trolls who have harassed her. The book really highlights how threats made online aren’t taken seriously enough. This book had my jaw drop open so early on and the twists just kept on coming. I did not see the ending coming at all.

Read this book in 1 sitting I just couldn't put it down . I've loved everyone of Maria Frankland books but this is my favourite by far. Wish I could give it more than 5 stars.

First, I want to start by thanking Maria for entrusting me with an early read of her newest psychological thriller, The Troll.
Okay… where do I even start?!
Can we just say I am totally mind-blown by this book!
The Troll was such a fast read for me. Normally, I try to pace myself when I’m reading, but I had zero control over myself with this one! The pages were literally flying beneath my fingers as I raced from chapter to chapter.
And those twists!!
I was nowhere close to figuring out the main twist. I did manage to figure out one of the other twists, but that definitely didn’t take away from the overall shock factor. There were so many moments where I thought I knew where the story was going, only to realize I was wrong.
The premise itself is incredibly creepy because, let’s be honest, we’ve all seen trolls online. At first, they’re just nasty comments on a screen… until those comments start becoming personal.
And then they become way too personal.

But when the messages become more unsettling, Chloe starts wondering if this person might be much closer to her than she ever imagined.
And THAT is where things get really interesting!
This was such a fast-paced, addictive thriller. There was plenty of mystery, tension, twists, and just enough creepiness to keep me suspicious of everyone. And that major twist?! I did NOT see it coming. I literally gasped out loud!
As always with Maria’s books, I absolutely loved the character development. I’m also a huge fan of her short chapters and the multiple points of view—they make her books incredibly easy to fly through because you’re constantly getting another piece of the puzzle.
I seriously could not put this one down!

What a twisty thriller that literally had me frightened and on the edge of my seat! Chloe is a bookfluencer who reviews and promotes books on Instagram, making herself quite famous as far as an online presence goes. She is at the top of her game and about to meet her favorite author, when cruel comments begin appearing on her posts. As the comments escalate, Chloe’s fear heightens and she begins to realize that this “troll” may be closer to home than she originally thought, and not just an online problem. The subject of cyber stalking is a topic that is not written about frequently and Maria does a fantastic job bringing it to light and portraying the fear that the various characters all deal with as they encounter the actions of the troll. There were many characters that I enjoyed and some that I despised which makes for a good mix! I was glued to the pages and couldn’t put this book down until I found out who the real “troll” was and I was completely wrong! I highly recommend that you give “the Troll” a read – you’ll be glad you did!! Thank you, Maria for another advanced copy of your book! 5 stars.

The Troll by one of my favourite authors Maria Frankland was another amazing read.
I was on the edge of my seat thinking i figured out who the troll was but when they was actually revealed i did not expect it at all. All the characters felt so real especially Chloe, she was a favourite character and her being a bookfluencer who has made a job out of reviewing books and is having the best time but there are trolls hounding her and her appearance and i just felt so sad for her especially when she mentioned her past. Eventually Chloe thinks the troll is closer than she thinks when she takes receiving texts and pictures and she is in actual danger.
I enjoy the short chapters as i get so much more engrossed in the reading, the troll was an absolute thrilling but suspenseful read. Once i started i couldn't put it down and i look forward to the new work Maria Frankland brings out, i will always read her work as they have never disappointed and every one is always so different but so captivating as a reader.

The saying goes that the grass is always greener on the other side. Is it really? Or is that merely another person's perception, and not actual fact? What would someone really do to right what they see as a wrong done to them? Chloe is a bookfluencer, but it is something that she loves, and has worked hard at to achieve. She hasn't got to where she is now by luck or chance. Yet, to others outside of her world, it could look as though her life is easy, and better than their own. How far would you go, to take your own type of justice out on another? When they haven't done anything to you, but you feel slighted by them anyway? Could you live with your decision for the rest of your life, knowing that you had taken theirs? Can we ever truly know if the same darkness lurks within us all? What makes our actions different from the killer is this story? I loved this book, and it's characters. I can't wait to read another one by this author.

However this is not well received by everyone and Chloe no stranger to trolls finds herself the target of a particular nasty one. Is it personal or is she just one of a wider group?
This books is extremely fast paced like Maria's others and she always has the ability to reel you in from the first page to the very last. There are plenty of twists as ever and multiple red herrings throughout to scupper who you think is behind the screen. Maria handles this unfortunately very common subject sensitively but it really does show how much of an affect trolling has on not only the victims but their families.

Maria handles this unfortunately very common subject sensitively but it really does show how much of an affect trolling has on not only the victims but their families.
I found this one really hard to put down and will definitely be recommending it to others, 5 stars from me!

I think this is the first of Maria's books ive read but it certainly wont be the last.
It was a relatively short, fast paced read that was difficult to put down and I flew through in hardly any time.
It follows bookfluencer Chloe and her idol Leanne. When Chloe starts receiving nasty and threatening messages the women try and find out who it is and what they can do when the police dont seem interested.
There are some vile characters in this, but the one I disliked most of all was Franky. A truly entitled person, who when he got told no, because he wasnt actually clever enough/talented enough etc he had a toddler tantrum. Refusing to believe he may at any point, actually be at fault.
I love the women power in this, and the twist was perfect. I read a lot and didnt see that one coming at all. There's a look at family dynamics, wealth and povery, have and have not, and jealousy. As a woman it felt particularly powerful, and for that i thank the author most of all.

The story explores the darker side of the internet, and made me look at my own profile and privacy settings .
You can glean so much information about a person on the internet - but it doesn’t necessarily mean it is all true.
The character development , as always with maria’s books , keeps them believable and relatable . As the story unfolds , so do their flaws.
The plot explores modern day on line stalking . The emotional distress caused by the anonymity of the messages , only serves to increase the fear and distress of the victims . The key board warrior develops into a dangerous real life stalker .
There were many red herrings and assumptions made about the identity of the Troll . I did , however , work out their identity.
Highly recommended .

Wow! Yet another fantastic thriller from Maria Frankland. Totally addictive - I couldn't put it down and ended up reading into the night to finish it! A look at the dark side of internet and social media, at the trolls we all know exist and for some have even experienced it.
I love how we have chapters from different characters, and still can't get over some of the shocks and twists. So many brilliant themes touched on as well as trolls and online culture, like financial instability, betrayal, assumptions, and positive themes like solidarity and empowerment.
Maria Frankland is a fantastic author, and I only hope she doesn't get any trolls as she most definitely doesn't deserve it! Another brilliant, five star read!

What an amazing read! I absolutely loved it and could not put it down. To me, the things that scare me the most are things that can really happen. This takes us to the dark side of the internet and social media, which is very real in today’s world. Things that are said anonymously, hiding behind a computer can be done so easily.

I honestly don’t know where to start with this one! You’re all in for a real treat!!!
Very few psychological thrillers grip you so quickly with both emotion and suspense! The pacing of the book steadily tightens which makes it impossible to put down. The characters are so recognisable and their decisions fears and relationships very believable. I read lots of psychological thrillers and not many endings and twists surprise me but I definitely did not see this ending coming! When the truth comes out it really hits you with a “what the f*ck” moment!! Then everything slots into place! An absolute brilliant fast paced page turner and definitely Maria’s best book so far!! Congratulations on another fantastic 5 star read !!

WOW! What a corker of a read, fast-paced and extremely addictive. Before you start this book, make sure you have nothing else planned for the rest of the day, because you will not be putting this down until you’ve finished. Short chapters make it nice and easy to read. The tension never lets up, making it nearly impossible to put down. I flew through it in one sitting, completely hooked from start to finish.
A fantastic intriguing plot with so much depth in every character. I really thought I had the culprit nailed but because this story was so well written, it put me off the scent completely, which meant an ending that blew me away. I believe I have found my new Queen of psychological thrillers. I think this has to be my favourite book by Maria Frankland.

A very topical subject. Chloe loves her job as a book influencer. It brings her prestige, money and fame but fame can bring its own problems. Anyone with a public profile can expect their own online critics hiding behind the anonymity of their keyboards. The problems start when Chloe’s troll’s criticisms turn personal. This person seems to know a lot more about her than an anonymous keyboard warrior. Should she be scared?
There were so many twists and most of them came as a total shock. As always with Maria Frankland I raced through. The final twist did not disappoint. I had many suspects but was not expecting this one.

I’ve lost count of the times this author has “forced” me to stay up reading past my bedtime. I read this on release day & as usual, Maria Frankland has written a book that moves at the speed of light and which I cannot put down once I picked it up. I did guess who The Troll actually was, but I honestly didn’t care since the storytelling was so good & the suspense so strong. I kind of wondered if Maria was in the book herself disguised as Leanne, because she certainly sounded like Maria. I just hope it wasn’t completely autobiographical.
Well, once again I’m fresh out of books by this author until the next release day!
