There is something incredibly satisfying about a friends-to-lovers story done well, and Yours Forever delivered exactly that.
The story follows two best friends, Damien and Olivia- one who is painfully aware that her feelings have grown beyond friendship but is too afraid to risk losing the relationship, and another who is completely oblivious to the fact that his actions are anything but platonic. Watching their journey unfold was equal parts sweet, frustrating, and delightful.
One of my favourite things about this book was how believable the friendship felt. They weren't simply labelled "best friends" and then thrown into a romance. Their history, comfort, trust, and genuine affection for one another were evident throughout the story. Because of that, every romantic moment felt earned.
I smiled so much while reading this book that my cheeks genuinely started to hurt. More than once, I found myself grinning at my screen like I knew these characters personally.
Beyond the romance, the story also made me reflect on friendships between men and women, the ways we care for one another, and how easy it can be to miss what is right in front of us.
As a fan of Rose Fresquez's work, I had high expectations going into this book, and I'm happy to say it lived up to them. I finished it in less than a day because I simply didn't want to put it down.
If you enjoy friends-to-lovers romance, mutual pining, emotional tension, and a story that will leave you smiling, Yours Forever is definitely worth picking up.
**Thank you to Rose Fresquez for providing me with an advance review copy of Yours Forever. I received a complimentary copy of this book, and all opinions expressed are my own.**
Okay, if you like the friends to more trope, run, don't walk when this book hits the shelves. Oh my goodness, this was so sweet!
Olivia and Damien have been best friends for years. But lately, Olivia has noticed her feelings have shifted for her best friend. But he is already involved with someone, and even if he wasn't, she won't risk their friendship. Damien is dating, but in his mind, Olivia will always be number one in his life. As she tries to get over her feelings for him and help his relationship, she starts to place distance between them. It's not until Olivia stops being there every second for Damien and starts allowing other men into her life that Damien starts to notice feelings he's been developing for her all along!
You all, oh my goodness! She loves him, he loves her but neither is ready to admit it. But when they try to put distance between them...man, oh man, did that turn up the heat in the story! And I was rooting for them every second to finally l admit what everyones been hinting at all along!
I am excited for the next book. Curious if Jaxon will get a story?! I gave this 4.5 stars rounded to 5!
I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.
There are many kinds of love… family love, friendship love and a forever love between a man and a woman. And sometimes mingling that friendship love with forever love can pose a problem.
That’s exactly what happens between Damien and Olivia. They’ve been true friends for years, so when feelings other than friendship begin to evolve what do you do? Do you dare risk losing a close and dear friend by letting those feelings be known? Or do you let fear take over and control your decisions, your choices?
What happens if one is dating someone else…. do you step aside and keep your distance so as not to cross boundaries? How about jealousy? Can it simply be pushed aside? And when you finally do decide to let that ‘friend’ know your true feelings, how do you explain your choice of being with that ‘someone else’?
What will it take for Damien to ‘man up’ and get out of his thinking that Olivia is his safe place? You’ll definitely find that out as this book has both Damien and Liv expressing their thoughts and feelings… and you can throw some jealousy in there too.
This book gives one a lot to ponder. Yes, it’s fiction but easily could be real life. I love how this author writes wholesome storylines that express faith and God’s love without going ‘overboard’, but keeps things interesting. Also, appreciate and love how she keeps it clean while making feelings and emotions true to life.
LOVED Damien and Liv's story!! Damien and Liv have known each other for years, and have been best friends for years, too. Now, Liv's known she's loved Damien for at least the last three years, though she crushed on him before that. Damien's dating Jessie, who asked him out though she knew he loved Liv. When Jessie moves in on their weekend at a music festival, Liv leaves them and goes off on her own, where she runs into Jaxon, another co-worker whose office is right next to hers. So, for the rest of the festival, Liv is spending time with Jaxon. When it seems that Jaxon is taking Damien's place, that's when Damien realizes that he's loved Liv all along. Now, if he only convince Liv that he truly loves her and isn't on the rebound from the Jessie, they just might work things out between them. Love how everything comes together!!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Olivia is best friends with Damien. She has grown up with him and his sister. They share a house with his sister and a cousin. Olivia fell in love with him a long time ago, but she has not done anything about it as she doesn’t want to lose his friendship if it doesn’t work out. He’s currently dating someone and it’s been the longest he has dated someone. Will they stay friends or will the friendship lesson because of the new woman in his life?
This was a good story. I worried about the relationship between Olivia and Damien. Damien is definitely obliviously to her feelings. It was interesting to watch Damien date someone, who in the Christian world, he is unequally yoked with. I appreciate the clean and Christian content and Rose writes great. I didn’t want to put the book down.
I received an ARC from the author and am leaving an honest review.
Oh my! This is just the best. When it comes to the friends to lovers trope, this book sets the bar. I absolutely love Damian and Liv’s story.
The way they knew each other so well and hid their feelings had me alternately cheering and wanting to yell for them to get together already. They are the perfect couple to cheer for and I’m all in.
Damian is a typical guy, denying what’s right in front of him and yet basking in Liv’s presence whenever she is near. It took some prodding from friends and some soul searching to figure out what he’d wanted all along. But when he’s in, he’s all in.
Liv was honest with herself about her feelings but fear of losing the love of her life kept her quiet and on the sidelines when he dated someone else. Yet she was still part of his life. Hiding her feelings must have been exhausting.
All I can say is plan to be up late. I finished at 12:23am. I wasn’t about to put this book down. It’s that good!
A lovely romantic romance from a gifted author. A story of discovery from best friends to marriage. Within the first few chapters you could tell the outcome but lots had to happen before Dominic woke up to reality. Although the couple were happy to pray publicly before meals, demonstrating they had genuine faith, I felt an opportunity was missed to encourage regular individual pray for help with relationships. The challenge to all of us is do we take friendship for granted? Do we prioritise our friendship with God above all others? The quote of the book that resonated with me is ‘a sunrise is just a promise, but a sunset is proof you survived the day and still have something beautiful to show for it.’ Isn’t it great God reminds us regularly from His wonderful creation just how blessed we are. He is greater than our circumstances.
I devoured this book right along with every other book Rose writes. Just something about that sweet friends to more trope. I love seeing Damien & Olivia’s HEA. These two have known each other forever and been best friends so when they realize just how much they mean to each other it gets better. Every moment Damien spent without Olivia was just terrible. I was literally sobbing like, “come on you two, you know you love each other so much more than friends.” I loved seeing all the faces of their friend/work group. Lexi & Nico along with our original couple, Jer & Zuri just made it that much sweeter.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are all my own.
Once I started this no spice Christian contemporary romance, I did not want to put it down. Sibling’s best friend is one of my favorite tropes, and this being coupled with them being best friends, and coworkers as well, was great. There is a huge love triangle that goes on in this book that lasts for a very long while. Damien is so sweet with Olivia, but he is also completely clueless. I really enjoyed seeing these characters again and this book makes me want to go back and reread the series. The romance is just kisses, intimacy level 1.5. 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.
TW: Past Loss of Parents
I received an eARC of this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Damien and Olivia are the best and closest friends anyone could find. They are inseparable and that causes a problem when they try to date other people. Through many trials and much confusion, they begin to realize they were meant for each other. They must overcome their fear and uncertainty to have a forever future.
It was a pleasant read. Some of the references to the music they listened to was lost on me because I’m not into that music, but it didn’t hinder the story line. It was a clean, wholesome read with a finally happy ending.
I received a complimentary copy from the author and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.
This was a good read and my first from Rose Fresquez. I enjoyed the faith element and the morals that the characters held to.
A good best friends to more that I would recommend to anyone looking for a sweet romance.
Olivia and Damien have known one another for almost 20 years as she has been best friends with his sister Zuri. They both work together and spend more time with one another as “friends” even while has someone he’s been dating for about 6 months now.
She’s loved him as more for years now but she is afraid to lose him if things don’t go well as a couple meanwhile, he looks for her everywhere they go.
Damien and Olivia started as friends and have been best friends for several years. Such a joy and trial to read. The trial of best friends trying to decide if more than that is worth the risk. But one has had a girlfriend for several months. Olivia only sees it as fair to that relationship to change it from best friends to friends. But are all parties being honest? “Once I outgrew it, I had to let it go.” What was outgrown? I loved getting lost in this story.
I received this ARC recently from the author and really enjoyed the story. Friends to lovers is one of my least favorite tropes but I think Rose did it really well. The couple was so sweet with each other, there was tension as they tried dating other people, and I love that it was written from a Christian worldview.
There were some minor editing errors that pulled me out of the story occasionally, but overall I enjoyed it and will definitely read more from this author.
This book started out a little slow for me. Once I caught up, it moved along nicely. You could really see and understand when the green-eyed monster showed its ugly face in this friends to lovers story, from both viewpoints. It was great seeing Liv and Damien work through their feelings as forever friends and find their way to love. All in all, a great worthwhile read. Enjoy!
This was a fun and emotional friends to lovers romance! Liv and Damien had so many cute traditions and such a deep emotional connection. I would have liked a little more faith elements and I got annoyed with Jessie's character but it was still a really enjoyable book! Thanks to the author for my ARC; all opinions are mine.
Friends to lovers. Friends & roommates due to Olivia being friends with Damion's sister. Friends for ages, both wanting more, but afraid of destroying what they have. Can they trust God & each other to take that step to being a couple that everyone else seems to see? Sometimes what you really want is right infront of you. An enjoyable, well written story.
There are a lot of stories about best friends discovering they are more than friends, but most of them move too fast. I like this one because the concerns and even the fact that one didn't notice are very realistic. Well done!
Can be read as a standalone but has characters that overlap with other books. Reading in order recommended but not required. Lifetime best friends She recognized feelings first His blinders towards feelings could ruin everything Office love triangle
Dnf at 65%. I personally do not enjoy reading romance books with the love triangle trope. Because it feels too much like emotional cheating. Unfortunately, the hero was with another lady for more than half the book….while unknowingly having feelings for the heroine.
