Two souls meet late at night in a graveyard. One is looking for a reason to stay. The other has already made his decision.
In the two years before See Me begins, Henry is already disappearing. Quietly, deliberately, in the way only the most careful people do. He spends his nights among headstones, his days performing a version of himself nobody questions, and his last conversations with a girl who doesn’t know she’s saying goodbye. Henry Douglas Howard was never supposed to be the kind of person you lose. He was full of a beauty he couldn’t quite hold onto. He noticed things others didn’t. And in his final weeks, he noticed Seren. The See Me series gave you Seren, Zane, Blair, and Austin. Remember Me gives you Henry and the story that was always underneath. Where the See Me series truly begins. Content Warning: This book contains depictions of suicidal ideation, depression, substance use, and suicide. Reader discretion is advised.
before anything, I will say that this book IS NOT for the faint of heart. it is extremely heavy and quite literally ripped me apart.
with that out of the way I can also say that this is truly the most devastating, heartbreakingly beautiful thing I have ever read. I don’t think there was a single page that did not have tears on it by the end. Tella is truly a master when it comes to writing about topics most won’t touch. the pain that is felt in this book is something I don’t think you could understand unless you have first hand experience with depression/self harm or loved ones going through the same. every single word is so perfectly placed it makes you feel like you are living it. the way that this book so perfectly ties the rest of the series (the best series ever btw) together is incredible.
absolutely no notes. this book is tragically perfect.
I can’t believe somehow even though it’s short it’s my favorite book in this series like the way the thoughts and actions are described is so accurate and it’s painful to read but AMAZING
