It's so cool to start piecing together different aspects of DC lore. I always wondered why the narrative of Batman Forever (the movie) had Two Face kill Robin's parents. Now I realize the writers combined Jason Todd and Dick Grayson's story. So fun!
batman looked kinda dumb here but the issue was still very fun, harvey is always great, jason is very excited, i get what bruce means but i think pointing his sillyness with the robin thing makes a lot of sense.
Overall a fun issue, we jump ahead a bit as Jason has now been training for six months. Learning everything from fighting, to shooting, to criminal investigations, and computers. Batman kept mentioning he needed an education and now he’s gotten it. The one thing Bruce has kept him a bit away from is the file on two-face, because of the connection to Jason’s father. But not everything is perfect, Alfred is quick to point out that Bruce compares Jason to Dick way too much and that can kill Jason’s self esteem. But the time has finally come and Bruce hands Jason over the new and improved Robin suit. Same colors with way stronger threads.
And just in luck their first patrol together and the bat signal is already lit up, and Gordon gets to meet the new Robin. But they’ve also received a letter containing a two pair of playing cards and the mugshots of two sets of criminal twins. It seems two-face is on the prowl. Why would he send them clues on his next crime, he isn’t riddler?!
Two-face is hitting one of the biggest casino’s in the city. They make so much that guards come at night to take the overflow cash and two-face is betting that they won’t risk firing their guns into the crowd if they stage a robbery. Plus the coin decided the plan moves forward. The plan was going good for them, one guard was shot to prove they meant business, and they had two sets of armored cars outside to take the cash. Unlucky for them, Batman and Robin beat them to it and took out the other twins before they could get away. Before Batman and Robin could finish the job, two face revealed a second gun and took a civilian hostage. Robin pleaded with him to take him instead. He’s just a kid, directly attached to Batman, and the second Robin: everything is perfect. Two face agrees and drags Robin to his customized two face themed two door car. Robin is not impressed. And if he just had this sitting near by, was he just going to leave it for the armored cars?? As they are driving away, Robin slams on the breaks and hops out of the car to get away. Two face drives off and escapes, and Batman picks up Robin as he was following close behind. It was an exciting night and Jason proved himself, and decided to stay up and read up some more on the rouges. Only to find in two face’s file, the direct connection to Robin’s dad…dun dun dun!!

This issue reminded me of why I kinda hate how predictable Two-Face's crimes can be. But it was nice seeing Alfred and Gordon point out how strange it is for Bruce to take in a new Robin and hide facts from him.
Although I love this portrayal of a more humane Batman, I've got to admit the villains are pretty lame and the resolutions to the problems presented are too easy, too simple and a bit ridiculous.
absolutely love jason taking in the role of robin like its his second skin and getting to showcase his smarts and personality. a hint of prejudice nevertheless another fun issue
