Prime Omegaverse #1

Dragon's Captive

Clara Dawson has been faking beta for ten years. A librarian's life in the mountains. Suppressants, forged papers, everything built to keep the Imperium from finding out what she is.

Commander Kairyx Emberscale finds out in one breath.

Three centuries old. Seven omegas failed him. Conquest Law gives him the right to take Clara, and he does—from her library, from her life, from everything she spent a decade protecting.

He claims her in heat. When it's over, Clara doesn't scream. Doesn't beg. She looks at him like he's a problem she hasn't solved yet—and starts solving it. She corrects his translations. Won't call him anything but "Commander," even while carrying his twins.

Then a rival dragon invokes the old laws to take her—a male who has killed every omega he's claimed. Clara has to decide what she'll fight for. And Kairyx has to decide what he's willing to burn.

Dragon's Captive is Book 1 in the Prime Omegaverse series. Each book follows a different human omega and monstrous alpha. Interconnected standalones. HEA guaranteed.

Tropes: captive romance · fated mates · omegaverse · forced proximity · dragon hero · he falls first · size difference · dual anatomy · touch her and die

This is a dark monster romance intended for readers 18+.

This is the Second Edition of Dragon's Captive—fully revised and expanded, with deeper character development, tighter worldbuilding, and new scenes. Same story, same fire. Better everything else.

Sweet and steamy is my thing! I just love when a hero is gentle, passionate, and protective with his heroine. It makes me melt inside. As a reader, I’ve especially come to love monster romance novels, but I couldn’t find enough that scratched that itch. So I decided to start writing!

He takes her from the life she built. She makes him reckon with it.

Clara has survived ten years by being forgettable. She’s a quiet librarian, a hidden omega, and a woman built from forged papers and discipline. But when alpha dragon shifter Kairyx steps into her library, one breath destroys the safety she fought to keep.

Kairyx is ancient, brutal, and bound by laws Clara never agreed to. He claims her because he can, because his bloodline demands it, and because the world gives him power over her body. Clara doesn’t soften that truth, even when her body answers him and her heart notices what he can’t say.

What begins in captivity becomes more dangerous than possession. Clara names what was done to her and makes choice matter in a world built to erase it. Kairyx learns that keeping her means becoming worthy of what she gives freely.

When old laws threaten the life forming around her, fragile trust is pushed into fire. Clara has to decide what survival means, and Kairyx has to prove obsession can become devotion.

Clara fights to keep ownership of herself after her body and future are taken. Kairyx begins as a possessive commander who treats her as the answer to an ancient need, but he changes through restraint. Their bond evolves from coercive captivity and biological compulsion into dark, high-heat love shaped by truth, protection, and choice.

An ultra-steamy, dark dragon shifter omegaverse romance with captive and captor tension, forced proximity, fated mates, biological pull, protective obsession, and a hard-won happily ever after. It’s about autonomy, survival, intimacy, trauma, trust, and the difference between being taken and being chosen. At its heart, it’s about a woman who refuses to disappear, a dragon who learns possession isn’t love, and a bond built through truth, choice, and devotion.

The Elevator Pitch: A hidden omega librarian is dragged from the quiet life she built when an ancient dragon commander discovers what she really is. Bound by law, heat, and a dangerous biological pull, their connection turns from captivity into a battle over choice, power, and the cost of being truly seen. When old laws threaten to tear them apart, both must decide whether survival is enough, or whether love is worth burning the world for.

Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥 Ultra-Steamy / Erotic Romance

Dragon's Captive is a dark omegaverse romance, and the author makes that clear from the beginning.

Overall, it was not bad. I liked the darker tone and the general premise, but I struggled with the world-building. Even though the story felt expanded, the world itself still did not feel fully clear to me. I had too many unanswered questions about the dragons. Where did they come from? How did they become part of this society? What is their history? Those details were not explained sufficiently, and as a result, I could not fully connect with the setting.

The romance had interesting moments, and the darker omegaverse elements were present, but the lack of clarity in the world made the story feel a bit incomplete for me. I think readers who enjoy dark omegaverse romances may still find this entertaining, but I personally wanted more depth and stronger explanations behind the dragon aspect and the dystopian world.

Not a bad read, but I expected the world-building to be stronger.

Dragon’s Captive by Allegra Rose is a dark, steamy, and addictive omegaverse romance. I loved the dragon-shifter element and the intense chemistry between the FMC Clara and MMC Kairyx. Clara is stronger than she first appears, and watching her navigate her dangerous situation kept me hooked. Kairyx is possessive, powerful, and definitely fits the dark-alpha role. Their relationship was filled with tension, danger, and plenty of twists that kept the story moving. The world-building was interesting, and I especially enjoyed the unique take on the omegaverse setting. If you enjoy dark romance, possessive alpha heroes, dragon shifters, and plenty of spice, this is a fun book to pick up. Overall, Dragon’s Captive was an intense start to the Prime Omegaverse series and left me curious about what comes next.

Kairyx and Clara’s story is a slightly different take on the Onega trope. He’s a dragon shifter who apparently came through a rift in space a few hundred years ago. They took over the world and had “Accords” written up that humans were forced to live by, especially if you were an omega. You lost your autonomy and everything else you used to be able to choose or change about your life if you were born omega, so omega’s started underground suppressant therapy and tried to hide in plain site. Clara had done so for 12 years until Kairyx found her, and of course if one dragon wants you, others will to and that is the premise of this storyline. It would have been a 5 ⭐️ read for me except there were a couple of timeline inconsistencies, small, but enough to take this to 4✨’s.

I enjoyed the darker tone and intriguing premise, but I struggled with the world-building. Even though the story felt expanded, the world never felt fully realized. I had too many unanswered questions about the dragons: Where did they come from? How did they become part of society? What’s their history? The lack of explanation made it hard to connect with the setting.
The romance had some compelling moments and the dark omegaverse elements delivered, but the unclear world-building left the story feeling incomplete.
Readers who love dark omegaverse might still enjoy it, but I wanted deeper lore and stronger integration of the dragon/dystopian aspects.
Not a bad read, but the world-building fell short of my expectations.

Perfectly executed Captor & Captive romance. This scratched an itch for a very specific trope I enjoy particularly in the monster romance genre. Albeit a somewhat dark one. If you are looking for the type of story were the monster steals the girl and makes her his despite her objections. Then this story definitely falls into that category. Clara and Kairyx have a rough start to their relationship, but the heat and attraction between them is definitely what holds this story together, and it does eventually become more than just physical attraction. There's high heat and descriptive terminology for intimate scenes between the Mcs, as well as sweet caring scenes, and maybe just a pinch of Stockholm syndrome. If you have a thing for cnc and dcon then this is the book and possibly series for you.

This is Book 1 of the Prime Omegaverse series. And a FANtastic start it is! Look forward to more from this world.

'Then a rival dragon invokes the old laws to take her—a male who has killed every omega he's claimed. Clara has to decide what she'll fight for. And Kairyx has to decide what he's willing to burn.'

The characters drove the storyline and they were very appealing and likeable and complicated and absolutely perfect together. Plot was intriguing and intense and exciting and well paced. World building was excellent and expertly drawn. Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend!

Grab a copy, kick back and enjoy the read!.

The first book of the Prime Omegaverse is a well-written and compelling series debut. The story follows Clara Dawson, a librarian who poses as a beta for a decade until Commander Kairyx Emberscale discovers her and invokes Conquest Law to claim her. Clara remains resilient, maintaining professional distance and correcting Kairyx's translations even while pregnant with their twins. The tension peaks when a rival dragon invokes old laws to take her, forcing both to decide what they will sacrifice for one another. It is a satisfying storyline with a happy ending. This paranormal alien romance has a very dark atmosphere from the beginning. In this dystopian world, humans have little value, and the dragon male lead holds all the power. The relationship starts heavily imbalanced since the female lead is essentially his captive, though he does try to make her situation more comfortable over time.
There is some character development and she gains a bit more agency as the story progresses, but the romance never fully loses its darker tone. If you enjoy morally gray dynamics and darker paranormal romances, this may work well for you.

This is the 1st book in the Prime Omegaverse.
Make sure to read TW, this is a Dark Romance with questionable scenarios. If you like Dubcon and Captive & Captor stories then this is for you. If not turn away now.
This is Kairyx and Clara’s story.
Clara is a librarian Omega posing as a beta, taking suppressants to hide her true nature and heat from the Alpha's. But her suppressants fail her and Kairyx is there to claim what he feels is his using/invoking Conquest Law.
This story is an interesting one and will keep you engaged.

I enjoyed the dark, intense atmosphere of Dragon's Captive and the way the omegaverse and dragon-shifter elements were blended together. The central relationship had strong chemistry, plenty of tension, and an emotional pull that kept the story moving. The danger and possessiveness suited the darker tone, while the character development gave the romance more weight than heat alone. The pacing stayed engaging, and the story revealed its world without giving away every mystery at once. A gripping start to the Prime Omegaverse series for readers who enjoy darker paranormal romance, powerful dragon shifters, and high-stakes attraction. Complimentary review copy received; opinions are my own.

I had mixed reviews on this story when I originally read it. This is a second edition that has been revised and expanded making it better than before. It is a dark story set in the omega world where the alpha takes what he wants, the omega, no matter what. With that said the reader should know what kind of world this is. It is a steamy read. I really like the characters and how their story developed. It is very intriguing with some good world building and creativity. There are triggers so beware.

A lot of repeated phrases or rewording the same sentiment that made it too wordy, but a story line I’ve not read before.
Should have more interactions that show that she was a part of running the resistance vs just being a member that benefited from it before she meets the alpha. Inconsistencies throughout the story are a distraction that takes away from the plot. I would have liked to see more conversations between the characters where they get to know each other more and we could get to know them. I think a time line revision on his past would bring more sympathy to his character.

“Dragon’s Captive” by Allegra Rose
-Clara Dawson is a hidden omega and Kairyx Emberscale is the dragon commander who claims her. Their dynamic is intense, dark, and shaped by strict conquest laws and forced societal control.
I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts. The romance delivers tension and emotion, but the world-building feels incomplete and underexplained. Im going to read book two now so I expect more details.

I'd have given this 4 stars but some sentences were very repetitive - it got annoying and sounded a bit amateurish. Overall the book was good with nice world building and a decent story. I really liked MMC. He was complex...and hot! I really wish we could have had dual pov throughout the book and not just one dinky little chapter at the end. Boo.

“About the Author: Sweet and steamy is my thing! I just love when a hero is gentle, passionate, and protective with his heroine. It makes me melt inside.“
- Yet writes a book where the mmc practically rapes the fmc??? and is brutal in doing so, couldn’t even at least make it gentle to make it more palatable. Can’t continue after the “claiming” scene, was genuinely turned off and disgusted.

Good story with one annoyance I can’t get over

Cute story overall, but the discrepancy of if the last omega was *60* years ago or *6* years ago drove me crazy 😬
Each was stated or implied 4+ times and it made my eye twitch. Otherwise a cute story I enjoyed.
