Wolfe gives me an ultimatum—I tell my father, or he will.

We only have one chance at this, so I know it has to be done the right way. Once my father knows that Wolfe has been sneaking around with me behind his back this long, he's going to want to put Wolfe in the ground. The way we handle it is literally a matter of life and death.

But with all the funerals my father has to attend, as well as rebuilding our property after Lombardi's hit, we need to wait a little longer. This makes Wolfe go apeshit, especially after a family friend makes a pass at me right in front of him. I can only placate him so long, and once he's officially initiated into the family, Wolfe knows we're out of time. But then a new enemy, Warren, puts a target on our backs. He provokes my father at a wedding, and when he makes the mistake of commenting about me, Wolfe loses his mind and starts another war.

Wolfe is so obvious about his feelings toward me that it's a miracle my father hasn't noticed. The trust that Wolfe has earned among the syndicate is so strong that no one suspects his treason. But when the war comes to a head, secrets are revealed, and everything is destroyed. The business, my family, everything . . . up in smoke.

The only person I have left is Wolfe.

My ride or my die. The person I trust most. The love of my life.

He would do anything for me—and I him.

This is book 2 in the By Blade series and it picked up right where book 1 left off. Wolfe would burn the world for her and I love that energy from a MMC. A lot of action is packed into this book and it was getting really good! Ended on a cliffhanger and I might cry about it because I need to know what happens next. I did guess correctly on a few things, but I’m mad I was right. Lies, betrayal, love, fighting, spice. Can’t wait to continue with their story.

👏🏾 Thank you to NetGalley & Dreamscape Media for the ALC
And yes… I cannot wait for the next one because WHY would you leave me on a cliff like that.

⭐ Tropes
- Mafia Romance
- Forbidden Love
- Touch Her and Die 🐺🔥
- A Rat in the Ranks
- Shifting Loyalties
- Revenge Plot
- Found Family
- High‑Stakes Suspense

🎙️ Narration — Ramona Master & Michael Ferraiuolo (Dreamscape Media)
Ramona Master and Michael Ferraiuolo continue to deliver a performance that feels like a full cast, even though it’s just the two of them. Every character has a distinct voice, a unique emotional tone, and a presence that feels fully realized.

The fear, the danger, the devastation...especially when Francesca is in a life‑or‑death moment , all of it comes through in the narration. Wolfe’s calm, lethal intensity shifts the entire atmosphere the second he speaks. The Don’s heartbreak, pride, and conflict come through so clearly it hits you in the chest.

Dreamscape Media’s production is clean, immersive, and cinematic.

And finishing this on Father’s Day? That added a whole extra layer. This book is so deeply tied to the Don’s love for his children, the impossible choices he has to make, and the pain of watching your kids grow into adults who make their own decisions even when those decisions terrify you.

As a parent, as a daughter, as someone who understands that moment when love and autonomy collide… yep, I felt that. It was written with so much emotional accuracy!!!

🔥 A Smidge of Plot
We pick up right where book one ended, still following Wolfe and Francesca as they try to find common ground. Wolfe wants to tell the Don they’re together he’s all in but Frankie knows the timing is terrible. Her brother is spiraling, the Don is questioning Wolfe’s loyalty, and the entire family is trying to figure out whether he’s an ally or an enemy. The tension never lets up.

💭 My Thoughts
This book kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The family drama, the shifting loyalties, the emotional fallout ... it’s all devastating and addictive.

And the Father’s Day timing? It made the Don’s storyline hit even harder for me on today. His love for his kids, his fear for them, his struggle to let them make their own choices… it was so appropriately written that I felt it in my chest. If you know, you know that one decision he has to make? Yeah. I’m still recovering.

Penelope Sky writes cliffhangers like she’s trying to ruin your day, and I am absolutely locked in for the next book.

Did I see the twists coming? Yes.
Did that stop me from being shook anyway?
Not at all.

A solid four stars — and if you’re looking to be devastated just a little bit, keep following this series.

I immediately needed book three after that ending.

You know when you finish the first book in a series and think, "Okay... I can tell the author is setting up something BIG"?

Yeah.

This was the payoff.

And I ate it up.

While book one laid the foundation, this installment cranks up the tension, raises the stakes, and had me fully invested from beginning to end.

But let's be honest...

The real reason I keep showing up is Wolfe and Frankie.

No matter how much family drama, danger, manipulation, or threats come their way, their loyalty to each other never wavers.

In a genre where miscommunication and unnecessary breakups are everywhere, there was something incredibly satisfying about watching two people choose each other over and over again.

What I Loved:
Ride-or-die romance
Family politics and power struggles
High stakes tension
Mafia drama
Secrets, betrayals, and a rat to uncover
Fantastic audiobook narration
Villain era energy

Now let's talk about the rat.

I figured it out early.

And the level of satisfaction I felt when I was right was unmatched.

Sometimes guessing correctly isn't disappointing.

Sometimes it's proof the clues were there all along, and watching everything click into place is incredibly rewarding.

But don't get too comfortable...

Because just when I thought I had everything figured out, this book hit me with a twist I genuinely didn't see coming.

And THAT ending?!

Let's just say I am fully seated for Frankie's villain era.

After everything she's endured, I am more than ready to watch her stop playing nice.

And can we give some love to the audiobook narrators?

Because they absolutely brought these characters to life and made an already addictive story even harder to put down.

Now excuse me while I impatiently wait for book three because I need answers immediately.

Thanks to Dreamscape Media for gifted ALC through NetGalley.

Confession: I'm a sucker for a ride-or-die couple. And these two? Absolutely refuse to fold.

This series is binge‑worthy. If book 3 were available, I’d already be devouring the conclusion.

Book 2 follows Frankie and Wolfe as they deal with the fallout from the attack in book 1 and struggle to find the right moment to tell the Don about their relationship.

Frankie is set to take over the family mob business, and she’s a powerhouse. She runs things behind the scenes so seamlessly that others barely notice. Fierce and capable, she stands her ground when it matters most. Like Wolfe makes her say, she’s a badass bitch.

She did frustrate me at times, especially when she avoided telling her father about Wolfe. It made her seem weaker than she is and created unnecessary drama, but her strength and conviction still won me over.

Wolfe completely stole my heart. He’s ruthless when he needs to be, but his loyalty and honesty set him apart. He’s the kind of man you want as an ally, not an enemy. His fear of losing Frankie adds emotional depth to his otherwise lethal edge, and I loved seeing that vulnerability beneath his power.

The pacing is fast and action-packed with high‑stakes confrontations, danger, and tension balanced by quieter moments that deepen their relationship. The story races toward a major cliffhanger filled with betrayal, death, and looming threats. I even called the real villain from the start and was practically shouting each time it came up.

The narration is excellent. Ramona Master and Michael Ferraiuolo bring these characters to life, and Wolfe now feels completely distinct from Constantine in Roman Republic.

I’m ready to see how Frankie and Wolfe take care of business in book 3.

Thank you NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Penelope Sky for this ALC.

After listening to the audio ARC of the first book, I had a feeling it was primarily setting the foundation for the rest of the series, and this book absolutely proved me right.

I really loved this installment. Wolfe and Frankie's relationship continues to be the heart of the story, and one of my favorite things about this series is how unwavering they are when it comes to each other. No matter what obstacles, ultimatums, or threats are thrown their way, their loyalty never wavers. Their ride-or-die dynamic makes it impossible not to root for them.

The tension throughout the story kept me engaged, especially with the ongoing war, family politics, and the constant threat of their secret being exposed. As for the rat... I guessed it early on, and I was ridiculously satisfied when I turned out to be right. Sometimes seeing the clues come together is just as rewarding as being surprised.

That said, the book still managed to catch me off guard with a twist near the end that I genuinely didn't see coming. The ending has me especially excited because I think we're about to see Frankie step fully into her "villain era!" I am here for it. After everything she's been through, I'm ready to watch her unleash chaos.

I can't wait to see what happens next and will definitely be picking up book three.

The narrators (Ramona Master and Michael Ferraiuolo) once again hit it out of the park. They did a great job of bring the characters to life, and keeping you invested.

Thank you NetGalley for the ALC of this book!

An addictive second installment. If you’re here for morally‑grey obsession, dual narration, and nonstop drama, you're in the right place. The audiobook absolutely carries this one; the performances add intensity, tension, and emotion that the text alone doesn’t always deliver.

This book leans lighter on the “dark” and heavier on the unhinged devotion, and honestly, it works. Wolf is still morally grey but with a surprisingly firm moral compass, and his constant choice of Francesca gives his character more depth than in book one. Francesca herself gets some real growth here, finally pushing back, making decisions, and standing her ground. She truly believes in herself and Wolf is in full support.

The plot is fast, messy (in a good way!), sometimes a bit repetitive, sometimes predictable (the mole is not exactly a shock), but still entertaining and enjoyable. The action hits hardest in the final stretch, and the ending is both heartbreaking and infuriating in the best way. The twist genuinely lands, and not even necessarily because of the twist itself but because of how everyone reacts.

The only downside is that some readers will feel the déjà vu from book one: similar pacing, similar structure, and a lot of “because” explanations that make the writing feel a little less smooth. But the character work is stronger, the chemistry is better, and the emotional stakes are higher.

If you thought this was a duet… surprise. You’re absolutely going to need book three. Now.

This is Book 2 in the By Blade Trilogy... the books are NOT standalone, you have to read the books in order as they follow the same 2 main characters throughout the 3 books. They do end on cliffhangers (not terrible... but enough to keep you coming back for the next!)

I am enjoying this series, following Wolfe & Frankie... this book is fast paced... picking up where the last one left off... there is drama, action, suspense, spice & more... I look forward to the conclusion of their story!!

I like how Frankie supports her man... it's rough that her Dad won't accept their relationship (at least at first)... Wolfe is so committed & such a keeper!! "I love her. I would die for her, I'd ask her to be my wife if I thought she'd say yes!... I protected her... every single one of you would be dead if it weren't for me & don't you forget it" (yes, he says this to her Dad/his boss!)

*Dark mafia romance
*morally gray/black characters
*rival mafia families
*touch her & die
*obsessive/possessive Alpha protector hero
*hidden/secret relationship
*forbidden relationship
*workplace romance
*romantic suspense
*enemies to lovers
*she's the boss's daughter
*Book 2 in a Trilogy
*Told in a dual 1st person POV

Thank you to the author (Penelope Sky), publisher (Dreamscape Media), narrators (Ramona Master, Michael Ferraiuolo) & Netgalley for the ALC. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley for early access to this!

This one was definitely closer to a 4-star read for me than the first book.

One of my favorite things about this story was that he always chose her. No matter what was happening around them, no matter the risks or consequences, he chose her every single time. That unwavering loyalty made it so much easier for me to connect with him than I did in the previous book.

I also appreciated that, despite being a killer, he had a strong moral compass. He knew exactly what he stood for and what he refused to support. There was a clear line between right and wrong in his mind, and he stuck to those convictions even when it wasn’t easy. That added a lot of depth to his character.

And can we talk about the rat? Because I absolutely did not see that coming. Not even a little bit. The reveal completely caught me off guard. Then the ending came along and managed to be both heartbreaking and shocking at the same time. I just sat there staring for a minute trying to process everything.

My biggest problem now is that I somehow convinced myself this was a duet. I only have the first two books, so I finished this one expecting everything to be wrapped up and instead found myself desperately needing the next book. I’m honestly kicking myself for not realizing sooner because now I’m over here impatiently waiting to see what happens next.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 🎧

First, thank you to Penelope Sky, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for the advance listening copy!

Penelope Sky is personally responsible for my rising blood pressure with these cliffhangers. 😂

This series just keeps getting better. The romance between Wolfe and Frankie is still the heart of the story, but the action, betrayal, and mafia politics are dialed up even more. Wolfe remains the ultimate "touch her and die" hero, while Frankie continues proving she's more than capable of holding her own. I loved seeing her confidence grow and watching their relationship become even stronger.

The audiobook was fantastic. The dual narration added so much emotion and intensity, making every tense moment hit even harder and every sweet moment land perfectly. These narrators were made for Wolfe and Frankie.

I had my suspicions about the traitor early on, but it didn't make the reveal any less entertaining. Watching everything unravel was so much fun.

And that ending?! Penelope Sky really wakes up every morning and chooses violence. 😭 I need book three immediately because that cliffhanger was downright rude.

If you love mafia romance, obsessive but devoted heroes, strong heroines, fast-paced action, incredible dual narration, and endings that leave you yelling at your headphones, this series is absolutely worth the binge.

🗯️‘You’re all I want, so there isn’t a choice’

📚What an explosive second part to this tale, the action and romance leave no room for anything else. It was a really good opportunity to see our FMC's character grow and figure out how to deal with all of the conflicting things she wants.

Our MMC on the other hand, is still as nearly unhinged as ever. The possessiveness in the beginning was a little much, but you gotta appreciate when a guy knows how good he has it and will do everything to protect.

🎧Ramona Master's is such a fantastic choice to play a secure FMC who can be a badass. Whenever we'd go to the MMC's POV I'd almost forgotten it wasn't single narration. Sorry, Michael - you did a good job too!

Slight spoiler, but not quite ...

While the 'mole' was rather easy to suss out - watching the characters strategize had me entertained and shaking my head exasperated at them a few times. I'm right there in the car ready to charge into book 3.

📚 PS - It’s so annoying when someone says they trust you, but then don’t trust your judgment when you disagree with them, definitely pulled out some repressed feelings there 🙃

The endings of these books, always get me! Thoroughly impressed with the second book of the series now that I understand how the author writes
I still feel that there could be less descriptions of everything that is happening, for example exactly what is being fed to the characters, but at the same time I appreciate the level of a picture that is being drawn. As someone with Fantasia, I don’t think that it is helpful for me, but I’m sure others would enjoy it.
I am very happy to know that I don’t have to wait very long for the next book in this series. I need to know what happens next!
I did figure out what was happening earlier in the book, I just wasn’t exactly sure how it would play out. And I’m almost angered at how it did play out.
The audio narration for this series has been excellent so far. I appreciate the level of work that has been put into it.
I received a gift a copy of this book and exchange for my honest review. It is always an honor, all opinions are my own. I am very grateful.

Wow this was a great follow up to By Blade, I Protect!

This second book picks up with Francesca and Wolfe hiding their relationship still. Wolfe wants to come out and be honest. Frankie says it’s not the right time.
Wolfe is finally starting to get accepted into the family but secrets always come out at the worst times. Frankie’s dad does not take the news of their relationship well

I had hoped Frankie’s Dad would have taken things better. It drives his daughter away. But after the wine business starts tanking with her brother Leo in charge, her dad asks her to come back. But Wolfe is not welcome.
I get the dad is a mafia boss, but I felt he should have been focusing on his daughter’s feelings more. Frankie loves her Dad still and agrees to return to work.

The action, finding out who the mole is, Frankie being tough, it was all so exciting! It kept me listening to this audiobook all day!
It ends on a cliffhanger and I am ready to find out what happens next!

This book was a fun mix of romance and danger 🫣😁

The chemistry between the main characters was great. The story was mostly romance and towards the last chapters bloomed fully into the mafia trope. Wolfe is nothing but wonderful to Francesca...”touch her and die” kind of thing going on but not overly jealous if that makes sense 😂, but he did maintain a healthy relationship and supported her in her decisions about the family business even though he couldn’t be part of it for now. For a mafia guy he wasn't toxic at all where Francesca was concerned.

It's really a light, breathy, bingeable read, aaaaand yes, it ends on a cliffhanger, so curious to see how this will continue in the next book (the traitor was pretty obvious after a couple of chapters though, but it was still very enjoyable).

Both narrators give life to the story, it was really pleasant to listen to them! 🥰

Another 5-star read in the books!

I absolutely love a man who is obsessive and possessive in the best way—someone who isn’t afraid to let the world know exactly who he loves. That is exactly the kind of love Wolf shows Francesca throughout this story. A man who is willing to go to war for you and do whatever it takes to protect you is definitely a keeper.

I also loved Francesca’s character growth. When it truly mattered, she stood up to her father and chose to put her faith in Wolf. She was willing to risk it all for the man who had proven time and time again that he was worth it.

Their relationship was intense, passionate, and completely captivating. I was invested from beginning to end and couldn’t get enough of these two.

I can’t wait for the next book!

By Blade, I Vow- book 2 in a trilogy that MUST be read in order.

ALC review- thank you so much to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this early audio!

This story just gets better and more action packed. This is a dark mafia romance full of forbidden love, found family, lies and deceit, and revenge.

As always, Penelope gives us an MMC who will literally burn the world for his girl. Touch her and literally die. Wolfe is just everything.

But yall, the ending. I did not see this coming. Yes, it ends on a cliffhanger but I am giving Penelope a million forehead kisses because she could have made that so much worse (like if she had ended it just a chapter before she did, IYKYK).

Love Wolfe and Frankie so much, can't wait for book 3

This is book two and definitely not able to be read as standalone they are interconnected and need to he read in order. I received an alc of By Blade, I Vow on Netgalley after also listening and reviewing the first of the series. This one just didn't hook me in like that first one did. It seemed to have less relatable moments, and the character development didn't feel as believable for me. The narrators did capture the mafia world around them in duel narration, and it did help give you a full picture of the chaos that surrounds them. This, however, just felt like it was missing something. Thank you, Netgalley and Dreamscape Media, for the opportunity to listen to the ALC for my honest review.

📚Book 2 (Have To Read Book 1)
The continuation of Francesca and Wolf’s story. In the aftermath of the attack on the Mancini compound. Wolf wants Francesca to tell her father about their relationship. All the while other families keep attacking and trying to get to her. I love Wolf’s obsession with Francesca. I was pulled into the story towards the end of book 1 so I was excited to jump into book 2. But unfortunately it was much the same as book 1. Kind of boring, almost repetitive plot with action that draws you in for the last 10%. I will not continue on to book 3. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape media for the ALC.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC of this book.

This book continues where book one left off. Poor Frankie is dealing with the aftermath of nearly being kidnapped. As in the first book, the relationship between Wolfe and Frankie is the cornerstone of the book. Wolfe continues to pressure Frankie to tell her father about their relationship and Frankie keeps trying to put it off. This is another quick read full of action. The family realizes there is a rat in their organization and things start to unravel as they attempt to uncover the traitor. The book ends with a bang and leaves you wanting more. I cannot wait to get my hands on book 3.

By Blade, I Vow was an enjoyable audiobook that drew me into the story, even though this was my first time reading this series. While I wish I had started with the first book, I was still able to connect with the characters and found myself invested in what happened next. The male narrator’s voice wasn’t quite what I had envisioned for the character, which took some getting used to, but it didn’t keep me from enjoying the story overall. I’m looking forward to going back to read the first book and continuing with future installments in the series. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance listening copy.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

I liked this one much better than the first! I feel like we learned more about the characters in this one. The story picked up perfectly from the first. I did find there was a lot of “because” to explain things which made the book flow less effortlessly. I think the sentence structure could have been better to avoid that. I like how the FMC stood up for herself and protected herself again. Can’t wait for the third in this series. This author never disappoints.

This is the second book in the By Blade series, and while Wolfe continues to be a toxic, arrogant asshole to everyone else, I'm happy to report that he remains nothing but a sweetheart to Francesca. He effortlessly maintains a healthy relationship and is comfortable with his masculinity, whether he's the breadwinner with a gun in hand or a stay-at-home man cooking dinner.

Both of the narrators have beautiful, melodic voices that are so pleasant to listen to! I can't wait for the next book 🫠

This was an outstanding read from beginning to end. The author did an exceptional job crafting a story that was both engaging and emotionally compelling. The characters were well-developed, relatable, and easy to become invested in, making it difficult to put the book down. Their growth, personalities, and interactions felt authentic and added so much depth to the story.

I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this book and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable, character-driven read. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Ahh, the CB! I did not see that coming and am over the moon with this reveal, but it leaves a question. One I won't state for spoilers. This story continues packed with action and excitement at another battle. Throughout, the adrenaline and tension kept going. My heart broke for both Wolfe & Francesca in the fallout but absolutely shattered by the end of the book. I desperately need book 3 to piece me back together.

Wow - ok - I did not like Frankie and Wolf in book one, I found them irritating and wishy washy. But in book 2 - Wolf is AWESOME!! Love his courage, love his snarky comments, love his bravery and love that he will stand up for what he believes in. And Frankie kicked butt and took names, she stood up to attackers as well as her father. The action continued - the characters sparkled and this book wowed me. Perfect narrated and I absolutely loved it!!

This is such a great series, I’m truly loving it. She is so badass and doesn’t even know it. The narration is great I love the female voice. The male voice not so much, he sounds too old. The story is great, lots of action and a great twist. The sex is a little repetitive, she describes it herself as vanilla it would be easy enough to shake it up. Definitely recommend.

Book 2 really picked up the pace. Frankie family is getting hit at all sides, and Wolfe stays high on the suspect list. But Frankie and Wolfe stand together to fight. You get some really nice chapters of them building their life together, family disputes, and a startling ending where the mole is revealed.

Narration was good.
