What do you think?

Until I Remember
She has no memory of choosing him. Her heart, apparently, didn’t get the memo.
I wake up in a hospital with a year of my life missing—and Grant Hastings at my bedside. I remember him, all right. He’s wealthy. Arrogant. British. And my late brother’s best friend. The last man I’d ever want to marry.
Except apparently I did.
Now I’m living in a beautiful house I don’t recognize, wearing a ring I don’t remember receiving, and expected to play the devoted wife while his aristocratic family, unaware of the gaps in my memory, descends for his birthday. Grant is patient and attentive, dropping hints about an explosive relationship that makes my pulse race. He’s nothing like the cold, haughty man I remember.
Torn between suspicion about this inconvenient marriage of convenience and an attraction to my husband I’m not ready to name, I have to make a leave the past buried or trust Grant to help me find my way back to a life I can’t remember choosing.
The terrifying part? I’m starting to think past me knew exactly what she was doing.

❤️ Amnesia trope with a caretaker hero ❤️
I have very rarely read the amnesia trope because it reminds me of cheesy, 1980s soap operas, throw in an evil twin and you have All My Children. But this was done very realistically while also being incredibly emotional.
Grant was a great book boyfriend, and because this was an audiobook, he had a great posh English accent. He was a caretaker who started off a bit aloof and quickly became a sobbing, emotional mess when the wife he loved couldn’t remember them falling in love nor the entire first year of their marriage. She remembered the adversarial relationship they had had before but none of the good stuff. It was a very interesting premise and I enjoyed it.
It doesn’t get full stars because I had trouble connecting with this couple. I think this was mainly because Mercy, the FMC, was portrayed as such an asshole. I think the author was going for strong and sassy, or perhaps broken and prickly, but I found her obnoxious. And because we never really got the story of how they fell in love and why Grant loved her, I found myself questioning what on earth he saw in her. Ya they had sexual chemistry but what else?
So there were moments where I got their love, more towards the very end, but they were few and far between. Building up to the reveal of her memories was not executed as well as I would have liked. It seemed to centre more around their sexual relationship and less around their emotional connection.
But overall I enjoyed this and really liked the narration. Duet narration with two very effective voice actors made up for the deficits in the story.
**************
Thank you for the ARC, Karla and team. Haven’t read an amnesia trope in a long time. 🤞

Amnesia romance and I remain incompatible.
Marriage of convenience though? That’s my ministry. So throw in a forgotten marriage, forced proximity with your own husband and a British man suffering from industrial-strength yearning and suddenly I’m willing to hear the amnesia delegation out.
Grant Hastings presented an extremely compelling case.
The trope did not.
What worked for me
(aka: exhibits A through Grant Hastings)
The Yearning Was Industrial Strength
Grant doesn't pine like a normal person.
Grant pines like someone should be opening the curtains of his country estate and informing him the sea air might improve his condition.
Mercy forgot their marriage and this man basically developed a Victorian wasting disease while standing six feet away from her.
What I loved, though, was that all that desperation never became entitlement. He remembered being her husband. She didn't. So he waited, adjusted, backed off when she needed him to and generally suffered with an amount of restraint I found extremely inconvenient for my feelings.
Once his POV finally arrived?
Diagnosis confirmed: terminally wife-struck.
Domestic Bliss Looked Good on Them
Every time the book gave me another glimpse of their missing year, I became increasingly offended.
Because you’re telling me this marriage started with we’re lonely, maybe we can take care of each other and somehow escalated into best friends, domestic routines, ridiculous chemistry and two people who genuinely became home for each other?
And I MISSED IT?
Even their families had stories. There were traditions. Inside jokes. Burnt cookies. Football games. Apparently half the Hastings estate had witnessed things it can never unsee.
Meanwhile I was over here collecting these details one breadcrumb at a time like some sort of marriage archaeologist.
I was obsessed with the marriage they built.
Bit rude that I had to reconstruct it like a cold case.
Attraction: Memory Not Required
I spent most of this book side-eyeing the amnesia trope but I will give it one thing - I liked watching Mercy get to know the man standing in front of her instead of simply relying on who she'd been told he was.
The attraction was there. Their old rhythm kept sneaking through. And somewhere between the arguing and discovering the devastating impact of slutty little glasses, I could finally see why these two had ended up married in the first place.
Past Mercy and Present Mercy may disagree on plenty but apparently Grant Hastings is peer-reviewed.
Where it lost me
(aka: and here come the complications)
Thoughts Were Had. All Of Them
Mercy didn't just have thoughts. She gave every thought a chair, refreshments and sufficient time to address the room.
I understood why her brain was working overtime. I just didn’t need the extended director’s commentary for every emotion she experienced.
There were entire conversations where Grant would say one thing and Mercy would disappear into her head for what felt like four business days before answering him.
Ma’am.
PARTICIPATE IN THE CONVERSATION.
Then Grant got a POV and started doing it too.
Oh good. It’s contagious.
Chemistry: Online. Relationship: Offline.
The frustrating part was Mercy and Grant DID have chemistry.
Whenever they actually interacted, I was in. The banter was sharp, Grant could flirt like his life depended on it and suddenly I remembered why marriage of convenience owns me.
But those moments never seemed to build enough momentum. We'd get a spark, then someone would retreat, overthink or avoid the conversation that might actually move them forward.
So while Past Mercy and Grant apparently had an entire marriage happening off-page, Present Mercy and Grant spent most of the book circling theirs.
The chemistry was online. The relationship just kept buffering.
Communication Has Entered the Chat. At 80%.
For two people who apparently knew each other VERY well before the accident, Mercy and Grant spent an impressive amount of time doing everything except properly talking to each other.
Mercy wanted answers. Grant was determined not to overwhelm her. Somewhere between those two objectives, communication got stuck on the loading screen.
When they finally started talking, laughing and actually getting to know each other again, I perked RIGHT up.
Excellent update. Shame it installed at 80%.
Please Observe The Suffering Husband
I could empathise with Mercy and still occasionally want to shake her by the shoulders. Her entire world had been destabilised and she didn't owe Grant a marriage she couldn't remember choosing.
But Grant had lost something too, and I kept waiting for Mercy to become a little more curious about his experience. This man was living the world's bleakest good news, your wife survived / bad news, she doesn't remember being your wife situation.
I knew exactly why Mercy was falling for Grant because I'd watched him love her. But Past Mercy - the woman who had this man terminally wife-struck - mostly existed through stories and other people's memories.
The evidence eventually arrived.
Useful information. Would've loved it several chapters ago.
The Audio Was Doing Community Service
The audiobook was out here fighting for the rating.
Samantha Brentmoor helped carry me through the heavier stretches of internal narration, while Shane East understood exactly what was required of a British man experiencing catastrophic levels of wife-related yearning.
Once Grant’s emotions started breaking through all that careful restraint, the narration elevated those scenes considerably. There were moments I’m certain would not have hit me nearly as hard on the page.
And this is why I will continue preaching the duet gospel.
Final Thoughts
There was a romance in here I really liked. Grant was an elite yearner, the marriage of convenience had way more heart than I expected, and the idea that their connection could exist independently of Mercy’s memories gave the amnesia premise a payoff even my trope-resistant self could appreciate.
Unfortunately, I spent too much of the journey waiting for the book to get out of its own head and let that romance happen. By the time Mercy and Grant were finally giving me the relationship I’d wanted, I was enjoying myself - but I was also looking pointedly at the percentage counter.
So no, amnesia romance did not convert me.
We shook hands politely and agreed to continue seeing other tropes.
Final Verdict
2.75 ⭐️ — Somewhere inside all that introspection was a romance I really wanted to love.
Justice for Grant Hastings and the romance hiding somewhere under all those thoughts.
Tropes and Vibes:

*Amnesia
*Age gap
*Brother's best friend
*Billionaire
*Marriage of convenience
*Angst
*Emotional
*Found family
I'm not crying, my eyes are totally clear and my heart doesn't ache.
Mercy wakes up in the hospital remembering nothing from the last year and definitely not being married to her brother's best friend, Grant, who immensely hates. But Grant is patient with her and try to be there for her with half confessions and things left unsaid that eventually drive both crazy.
Mercy is a strong, stubborn and very opiniated person with a troubled childhood but with a heart of gold. Grant is the Brit (yes I imagined him in my head with this posh accent) who seems so uptight but in reality is a kind hearted person who wants to live the way he wants, rather the way he was raised for.
I loved their relationship, the connection of them even when Mercy doesn't remember anything from their time together. I loved how effortless were their conversations and how they acted to each other even when future didn't seem certain.
But the emotional depth of this book brought me to my knees. And I definitely will be rereading it in the near future. Because it shreds your heart and stitch it back together. I was literally sobbing through this book and my soul feels lighter after finishing it.
I'm not usually a fan of amnesia but this one hit the bull's eye for me. This story isn't your typical romance. We navigate their relationship through Mercy's eyes who she has no recollection. So as Mercy, we readers discover the true side along her, being in the dark and very slowly learning bits and bits, all these while Mercy rediscovers herself.
I received this arc and this is my honest opinion.

this was really cute, especially after coming off a thriller!!

Sorensen’s writing soars in this deliciously angsty romance brimming with yearning. The chemistry is explosive, the banter is a character all its own, and the love story is one for the ages. Until I Remember is an addictive five star read that lovers of pining simply can’t miss!

every time i read one of Karla Sorensen’s latest books, i’m convinced nothing could possibly top it, only for the next one to prove me wrong. i think 𝑈𝑛𝑡𝑖𝑙 𝐼 𝑅𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑏𝑒𝑟 is my favorite of hers yet. that says a lot, because so many books in her catalogue are some of my favorite romances ever.
the novel has that very 2000s-movie setup where a married woman wakes up with no memory of her marriage and can’t understand how she ended up married to her older brother’s best friend, the man she always thought she hated, despite the attraction that had been there for years.
i loved this book because there was so much angst, so many question marks unanswered that we had to piece together alongside the heroine. i especially appreciated that the story was narrated mainly from Mercy’s perspective, because it preserved the mystery around why she married him in the first place.
and Grant… oh my god. he was so considerate, so patient and so attentive. he was always there for her, gave her space when she needed it & even when she said things that clearly hurt him because she didn’t remember, he never lost his composure. he just kept showing up for her.
i loved that he never tried to force her to remember. instead, their relationship unfolded almost like a slow burn, with both of them slowly putting the pieces of their own history back together. watching her try to rationalize everything until the very end made it even better, especially because she had to think about more than just herself. & that ending? the near-end had me sobbing my eyes out.

I’m sorry, but, this book is giving Temu Wait & Hope. And while I’d like to think it’s coincidental, when the author seems to be part of the Dramione fandom, it’s hard to believe that she isn’t familiar with the fic, & that the many similarities here aren’t intentional.
Look—I was worried already at the book description sounding eerily familiar to the fic (& soon to be book). But I wanted to give Until I Remember a shot and stay open minded.
And the setup here is admittedly a bit different. The tension in the plot feels like a fake marriage-esque dynamic where they have to pretend things are stable for his interfering family. There are themes of shared grief, over Mercy’s brother, that are entirely different from the fic. Mercy herself isn’t that reluctant in how she opens up to Grant, and the physical burn happens fairly quickly. He’s rich, so in a big house, there isn’t really that much forced proximity.
But Grant is also a pretentious British prat with perfect hair who she remembers punching in the face when he annoyed her; he wears glasses when his eyes are tired and has forearms out that she clocks quickly; he refuses to give her too much information lest it impact her medical recovery.
He yells “my wife” from the hallway of the hospital, outside her room where she’s told she gave the wrong answers to her name and the date.
And he sleeps on the couch instead of in their bed.
In what is described as a massive house—because again, they are loaded—there is a full dramatic statement in his POV about how he is sleeping ON THE COUCH.
Even aside from my frustration over the similarities to Wait & Hope, this book generally did not work for me. The burn moves so quickly, and the male POV made Grant less mysterious, less desperate, and less attractive from in his head. It also took me out of feeling invested in Mercy’s journey.
When she’s only lost one year of memory, and when they fall back together physically pretty quickly, it’s hard to feel like there’s any real emotional tension or growth. Without giving it away with specifics, the ending also felt way too easy here. (And also, once again, oddly similar to the epilogue of the fic.)
I do think people who love easier contemporary romance with some hotter physical moments will like it, though. Lots of people like shopping at Temu.
🎧 I did this audiobook and as always Shane East is stupidly good. Samantha Brentmoor also feels well cast as Mercy here. It’s hot and the duet is great.
I really hope there isn’t malicious intent, in any inspiration that may have been drawn from a prior work here, and in then releasing this book two weeks before Once, Again, Always.
But it’s hard having read both, not to be disappointed in Sorensen here.
Thank you Brilliance Publishing for the ALC.

Overall, I enjoyed it! The beginning was really good, but then it became too sweet for me. It also felt quite similar to Once, Again, Always, which I enjoyed much more.

Spoilers ahead
Idk how I feel about this book and tbh had this been a different author this would be a a much easier review. Overall I enjoy this author, I won't say I fw everything she puts out but I can say I see her name on a book I'll pay attention, so there is some author bias in this because we click her and I 🫶😂
The plot of this book however depended on the MCs NOT TALKING ABOUT THE GEAAT BIG GIANT EVENTS 👀😒that would've moved the plot forward until that critical moment when someone decides they'd had enough (usually pass 60% of the book😑🤔) then everything comes out and I get everything I'd hoped for in the damn book in the first place CRAMMED into the last 30-40% 😩😑🙄.
Another problem for me personally is I'm not generally a fan of those marriage in crisis books and stuff like that or books where the relationship has already happened. I like to seey relationship develop..... I'm not a fan of friends to lovers or in this case brother's friend. These two both dated others in the time they knew each other, for the H at least we know he wanted her a little but she was young....... I'd have liked to see them together.....their year of marriage sounds like a damn good time...... unfortunately we don't even get her getting flashes of memory returning 🫠Ion like that.
Her brother died, idk for how important Connor was I wanted something more man jeeze. Their relationships were so beautiful man I cried immediately cuz what do you mean he died??? Howwwwww wtfff
There were some emotions here but they felt like they were just being scratched before everything was resolved. Too much time was spent avoiding the issues.
The H man 👏👏👏👏👏
In conclusion, I'd have preferred this as their actual romance 😭😭😭but then again I hate friends to lovers lmaooooooo.
I love this author (overall) , I think if the H had been allowed to reveal some things and get things out in the open a bit more I could've gotten the emotional punch i.hoped for. Their I love you was too lukewarm for me 🤷♀️
Thoughts while reading
“I don’t need you to be the same, Mercy. I’ll fall in love with you all over again. Whatever version I have, I will love you for the rest of my life.” #swoon omggggggggggg

I love this author (overall) , I think if the H had been allowed to reveal some things and get things out in the open a bit more I could've gotten the emotional punch i.hoped for. Their I love you was too lukewarm for me 🤷♀️
Thoughts while reading

In the package:
📦 amnesia
📦 marriage of convenience
📦 found family
Plot: Mercy wakes up with no memory of the last year of her life, which happens to be her marriage to her brother's best friend, Grant. All she remembers is hating him but Grant is extremely patient with her trying to let her heal at her own pace. Mercy isn't sure she can trust Grant and the explosive relationship he claims they had..
Thoughts: I've been on such an amnesia trope kick lately and not a single one has disappointed me 🙂↕️ this was a quick and sweet read with an MMC who is pathetically down bad and desperate, just the way I like em 😩 Mercy was very headstrong and stubborn and I don't blame her because wdym you wake up one day and don't remember your husband and you got married out of convenience? I would be sus too 🫠 The last 20% of the book was so sweet and seeing how Mercy really struggles with her memories and how she should feel towards Grant broke my heart 😭 the angst was through the roof with this one!

I am a sucker for an amnesia trope! The opening dropped me into the heroine's disorientation so completely that I was just as lost as she is, waking up in a hospital with no idea what year it is or why her brother's best friend is claiming to be her husband. She's prickly in her confusion at first, but watching their friction thaw into banter as she rediscovers his love for her (yum). It also had just enough cryptic half-comments to build tension before clarifying and making it feel like the hero and heroine were in this mess together. It's the second half that doesn't quite stick the landing. The social and family interactions kept telling me how to feel instead of letting me watch the heroine rediscover herself. The last 25% is so relentlessly over the top emotional that every scene blurs together and resolves the amnesia rather unceremoniously. Generally this is easy, breezy, and sweet, but it doesn't do anything new with this trope
Audio note since I listened to an ALC — a few spots where the quality noticeably shifts from inserted edits, hopefully smoothed before release. Both narrators are great though, with lovely delivery that adds to the story rather than getting in the way.

“I don’t need you to be the same, Mercy. I’ll fall in love with you all over again. Whatever version I have, I will love you for the rest of my life.”
Karla’s books always hit me straight through the heart! The heroine, Mercy, was in a car accident, and has forgotten the last year of her life. Unfortunately, this means she forgot marrying her (deceased) brother’s best friend, Grant, who would’ve been the last person she ever thought she’d marry.
Seeing Grant and Mercy slowly work their way back to each other was so heartwarming. Mercy had every right to fear her feelings and the things around her, but she kept trying to meet them head on and not let her amnesia completely wreck her spirit. Meanwhile, Grant was the definition of the “in sickness and health” part of the marriage vows because no matter how broken he felt inside at the possible “loss” of his wife, he was beside her every step of the way as she questioned him and rediscovered their connection and love for one another.
These two were perfect for each other. Their chemistry and love for one another was POTENT. The author did a good job of showing us some of the pivotal moments from their marriage, without bogging the book down with a lot of flashbacks. Important moments from the past were brought to the reader as Mercy discovered them, so we really were on this journey with her (Grant’s later POV aside).
I highly recommend - Karla’s writing always feels like home, and the angsty-ness of Grant and Mercy’s journey had me in my feels!

Did I finish this book or did it finish me??? Every time I read a book from Karla I think "this is my favorite Karla book" and this one was no exception. Someone said that it had Pride and Prejudice vibes, but if Lizzie had amnesia and I think this is a perfect explanation of this book.

I absolutely loved this book! It was so emotional and heartwarming! Mercy & Grant getting to know each other again, and figuring out their lives in the present, was beautifully executed. Grant especially was so good. He was patient and understanding and his yearning felt so sweet. He gave her so much time, which made his love feel genuine. Both of their point of views were well written and there was plenty of angst. I did feel the the pacing was slow in some parts, but the emotional aspect was the strongest part of the book. So overall, I enjoyed reading it.

Cue the tears.
I absolutely love the amnesia trope.
When one person makes the other fall in love with them again. Melt.
I hate billionaire romance.
But I loved our rich British man Grant.
Ugh my heart was crushed for him.
Brothers best friend
There’s an age gap situation
Marriage of convenience
Different family upbringings
Mercy
Lost her memories in an accident and gosh darn does it rip your heart out.
She’s also a firecracker.
I loved the dual POV layout in this.
You’ll see what I’m talking about when you read it.
I want to tell you everything but I don’t want to give anything away.

This is the most beautiful story! A heartachingly emotional amnesia romance, with second-chance romance, brother’s-best-friend, and enemies-to-lovers vibes. I fell wildly in love with Grant and Mercy, and I loved this book so much.
After a car accident left her with a serious head injury, Mercy wakes from a coma with no memory of the previous year of her life, including the fact that she is married to her brother’s best friend, Grant. From the moment they met when Mercy was a teenager, they have barely tolerated each other, and she has no idea how her new reality came about. Now she’s heading home with Grant to their mansion, barely able to comprehend the long journey ahead of her.
Mercy’s story is so well done. I could feel her grief, her confusion, and the rollercoaster of emotions that she found herself on. She’s a confident and ballsy woman, usually so strong and entertaining, and her experience with the sudden upheaval in her life felt authentic. I loved watching her fight so hard to understand it all.
It’s not the clear-cut story I was expecting, which I really appreciated. But with longing looks, phenomenally snarky banter and hints of their explosive chemistry, you know there’s something seriously special between these two and the romance feels like a slow burn as Mercy fights to figure out her past, while coming to see a whole new side to her husband. The anticipation is fantastic as Grant is clearly wrestling with it all. And my God, the man is incredible.
Grant has the whole broody, stoic, rich guy thing going for him, and you can see there is a well of emotion just underneath the surface, and seeing that come out was one of the highlights of the book for me. As a romantic hero, the man just shines!
He is sexy, intense, and madly in love with his wife, and the vulnerability and emotion we see in him absolutely melted me. Yes, it’s heartbreaking at times, but it’s worth the wait to see him win Mercy’s heart all over again, and I loved watching these two find their way back to each other, right where they belong.
Of course, we know where the story is heading, but it’s a surprising path to get there and God, it was great storytelling. The way the POVs are written is so well done, creating an intense read that really pulls at the heartstrings and had me desperate for more.
I truly loved this book, and the ending is supremely satisfying. Such a beautiful read.

“I want to know why he’s here. He’s not my emergency contact. He doesn’t even like me.” My voice cracked on the last word, which seriously undermined my righteous indignation.
…
“Where else would I be?” The deep tone of his voice, the way he curled his accent around the words, lifted the hair on my arms. Then my brother’s best friend, the arrogant asshole who got under my skin like no one I’d ever met, opened his mouth and spoke again. “You are my wife.”
It’s not the clear-cut story I was expecting, which I really appreciated. I’d never shown more patience in my entire life than I had with that woman. But God, she was worth it. Even when she pushed me away. When she pretended she didn’t care. When she was scared enough to run. Loving her was worth every hard-fought inch, and I wasn’t ready to concede a single one of them.

Oh my goodness, Karla Sorensen! What did you do to me?! Until I Remember was such a beautiful, tragic, humorous, emotionally layered story that had me simultaneously smiling and shedding a tear more than once.
Mercy and Grant are connected by Mercy's brother Connor. She's the sassy little sister and he's the stuffy, rich British guy that befriended her brother. When Mercy wakes up after an accident, the person by her side is her husband. But Mercy seems to have forgotten she has a husband and the last thing she remembers is that she is alone after having to bury her brother, the one person that's always been there for her. But when the nurse comes in with none other than Grant Hastings as her husband, she knows it's gotta be a joke. Because Grant may have been her brother's best friend, but these two are more like oil and water. They do not go together. Can they really be married?? Because Mercy does not remember this.
'He was nice to look at. No matter how much he pissed me off, the man was stupid attractive. At least with his mouth closed.'
I don't know how Sorensen made me laugh when something tragic happened and ended in partial amnesia. It honestly endeared me to Mercy. I loved how much of a spark she had, even during something so dark. She was a spitfire that pushed buttons, but also had me a bit heartbroken because she wanted to remember the past that included her time with Grant. Even if she couldn't believe it. There was something there. An invisible string that was stretch taut, but she couldn't quite connect WHY.
And Grant? That man is a pure saint. All he wanted was his wife back. What they once had. Whatever that looked like. And seeing him through Mercy's eyes (as the majority of the book is from her POV), that made it even more apparent. He was patient. He was kind and he gave Mercy everything he thought she needed. Then, when Sorensen finally gives us Grant's POV, it is done at the perfect time and gives us more insight to HIS journey in all this and how much he truly cared for and loved his wife. But can he make her love him again? Or as he lost the woman that "rewired his entire bloody brain"?
This story was truly beautiful and one I couldn't put down. I loved how opposite the characters were, but also how charged their attraction was to each other. They balanced one another out. My favorite parts included Grant's family and how Mercy had to navigate that whole situation. It may have opened a can of worms, but it also cracked open a piece of Mercy that she was missing. It nearly broke her, but it may have also saved her.
I don't read a ton of amnesia trope books, but honestly it was what pulled me in for this particular book. KS did an amazing job of building the characters and showing us a journey that wasn't easy. It was a connection that had to grow again and find its footing. And the yearning? Swoon. *Chef's kiss* Grant Hastings is Top Tier Book Boyfriend material!

This was such a surprisingly emotional romance.
Mercy waking up with no memory of the last year, including her marriage to Grant, created this constant sense of uncertainty because she remembers hating him, but none of the love that came after. I liked being just as in the dark as Mercy and slowly figuring out what their relationship had actually been like.
Grant was probably my favorite part. He’s reserved at first, but underneath that he’s such a patient, caring mess over his wife. He never tries to force Mercy to remember and just keeps showing up for her, even when it clearly hurts. Their chemistry was still there despite everything she had forgotten, and watching them slowly find their way toward each other again gave me all the yearning I wanted.
The emotional payoff really got me, especially toward the end. I would have liked a little more of the emotional history behind what originally brought them together, but the tension, chemistry, and tenderness kept me invested.
I don’t reach for amnesia romances very often, but this one definitely worked for me and left me with a pretty big soft spot for these two.

I love the amnesia trope when it’s done right. Mercy and Grant’s story started out promising. Great banter when Mercy first woke up, cause the last she remembered was her hating Grant. That came with some great tension. Especially when they went home from the hospital.
Mercy missing a year of her life married to Grant had me hoping for some ways for them recreating memories. Sadly it didn’t and it also didn’t do anything for their chemistry which wasn’t working for me.
I think it has something to do with how the story was constructed. I needed more from that one year that was missing. I needed more of them figuring out how to help Mercy remember. It was a lot of telling and it got boring fast. I didn’t believe in their love when it finally happened and Grant fell first but again it was a lot telling so the reward wasn’t worth it.
Grant’s sister Rose was fabulous and so was her friendship with Mercy.
Overall an ok amnesia romance but it didn’t live up to my expectations.

It started really well, with great banter and chemistry. I absolutely loved the characters, but I felt like the entire plot revolved around the amnesia, and that was pretty much it. The amnesia and the mystery surrounding it. I personally needed more plot!

Age Gap

I can always count on Karla for an emotional and beautiful read, and this book is no exception. Until I Remember is one of my most highly anticipated reads of September and the story surpassed every expectation I had. Add in the fabulous voice acting by Shane East and Samantha Brentmoor and I could not get enough of my immersive read.
Mercy and Grant have known each other because of Connor; Mercy's brother and Grant's college roommate. Mercy might be the younger sibling, but Connor and Mercy were incredibly close due to their situation growing up. While that childhood caused Mercy to be scared of forming any close relationships, she found immense pleasure in bantering/torturing Grant. Meanwhile Grant is the opposite of Mercy in many ways. He is grumpy, stoic and struggles to express his emotions.
When Mercy wakes up in the hospital after a bad car crash, the last thing she remembers is one of the most traumatic events in her life. And she has no memory of how her relationship with Grant changed in the year since that traumatic event.
And this is were Karla's writing shines. The depth of emotions throughout this book had me laughing through my tears as we watch Mercy and Grant try to move forward. Mercy, having no memories of Grant while Grant remembering every moment of how their relationship changed and who they had become to each other. Simply put: This is the amnesia trope done right and what I love about the amnesia trope. We get to see these two fall in love all over again while facing deeply personal issues through a new light.
The chemistry, the yearning, the spice, the secondary characters all just added to how fantastic this book is. Without a doubt this is one of my favorite books of the year and I will need 3 to 5 business days to recover, but I will never stop thinking about this book.

Imagine waking up from a week long coma, realizing you’ve lost an entire YEAR of your life, and finding out you’re married to your brother’s best friend. A man you remember absolutely hating. I would LOSE it, and I could just imagine how Mercy was feeling with everything she thought she knew suddenly flipped upside down.
I loved Grant and Mercy so freaking much! The way Karla Sorensen uses the POVs made this even more emotional because for so much of the story, we only know what Mercy knows. She doesn’t remember falling for Grant, she doesn’t trust him, and she knows he’s keeping things from her. Meanwhile, I was dying to know what happened during that missing year.
And then we finally get inside Grant’s head. GOOD GRIEF. That man LOVES her. The yearning, patience, restraint, and devotion absolutely got me. Watching Mercy discover the man she married while Grant knows exactly what they’ve lost broke my heart.
I had tears in my eyes by the end. Grant’s love for Mercy was EVERYTHING, and I loved this book so much.
🎧 And y’all, Shane East as Grant?! I need a minute. His performance was incredible. The sorrow, the YEARNING, the restraint, that British accent. Easily one of my favorite male narrator performances I’ve ever listened to. Samantha Brentmoor was fantastic as Mercy too, giving her so much vulnerability and strength. This duet audiobook made an already emotional story even better.

Kaza sonrası hafıza kaybı yaşayan Mercy uyandığında hiç beklemediği bir şey öğrenir. Evlidir.Bunun doğasına aykırı olmasını geçin evlendiği kişi imkansız biridir. Grant Hastings.
Hatta çiftin başka kitaplarda konusu geçiyor mu diye baktım bi an.
Eksikleri vardı ama yine, yeniden sevdim kitabı.

3.5 stars! I haven’t read a book from this author in years but heard this new release has amnesia and was like yes please! Plus it is available on KU with read and listen and next thing I knew I listened to the whole audiobook while working on a project.
I’ve read a handful of amnesia romances and while this wouldn’t be a favorite overall for me in the trope, I do still think it was pretty good. Especially if you enjoy a man who yearns…for his wife who has amnesia and doesn’t remember they had a marriage of convenience a year prior. He was her late brother’s best friend so she does remember him, just doesn’t remember the fact of why or even that they got married so she’s baffled at first. I did like how he takes his time with her and everything is at her pace because obviously with what she went through. A lot of the book is just them circling/existing around one another and a lot of her in her own head thinking and being reminded of all the good things they did have together (his fam comes to visit and talks about how they were all over each other in the past). He’s a billionaire and British too.
I just needed something more from them or the plot, cause it’s really just them in their house and her trying to remember or come to terms with the life she is told she had before. It didn’t land for me emotionally, maybe if instead of being told about their past we would have had some chapters or moments of seeing this great love they had and then it being lost could have helped me more. The audiobook is fantastic though, great narrators!

I'm usually not the biggest fan of the amnesia trope, but this was so good!!! It's a very emotional and angsty story, and Mercy is a great character
