I like historical fiction, but American history is my favorite. Our country’s struggle for freedom is truly brought to life within these pages. We see the struggle of the common people to survive and have food and of the soldiers to fight and not have supplies needed. There is always danger from the enemies and those who support them, but who can you trust?

There are spies, traitors, and enemies all to be dealt with for James and Anna to have a future. I liked both of these characters; they desired to further the cause of liberty and to be true to who they were and be valued for that. Anna’s bravery in the face of this danger allows her to make her mark on history.

The author includes lots of history in the plot, which is an element that I enjoy. I have only read a couple of the author’s novels but I have enjoyed each. I received a complimentary copy from the author and these are my voluntary and honest opinions. I was not required to leave a positive review.

This was a great story of love and intrigue set during the American Revolution. It is near the end of the war and everyone on both sides are tired and hoping for an end to the fighting. Anna is drawn to Major Coleman and he to her, but he is wary to hope because she is the daughter of a wealthy "first family of Virginia". As they admit their feelings and look forward to a future, his work in espionage and the acts of one of his men put them both in danger. When Anna steps in to take James's place when he is attacked, she proves her love for him and her dedication to the cause of freedom. I couldn't put this book down and read it all in one day. I love that the locket continues to bring love to those who find it.

I received a copy of this book from the author as an ARC, but a positive review was not required.

This story is incredible! I love every moment of it—a swoony romance with Major Coleman, ever the southern gentleman. With all the secrets and war plunging them all into the unknown with danger at every turn, I found myself holding my breath and reading faster. All the history the author pours into the story has me starry-eyed, and I want to see it all for myself with a trip to Virginia. The fact that she tells much of the history behind the characters' names in the back of her book, and about some of the places in the book, is so appreciated, and I learned some interesting things! I think this may be my favorite book of hers yet!

This is my voluntary review of a copy I was given.

This was an exciting story. Set during the Revolutionary War, this story has got soldiers, secret messages, a bit of romance, and more. It was exciting, but not angsty. I loved the historical setting and the discussion of some of the social ideas of the time.

This is a short story set in war times that features a major and a woman from a wealthy family. There's rumors of treason and dangerous situations. I did like the story however I wished it was a little longer and took more time developing the love story.

This was an amazing book. Although the characters are fictional the history is not. There are some extremely heart pounding areas that hold your attention fully. I literally could not put it down. Goodness this was such a good book!
