Scarlett Williams never imagined herself becoming a slave to a vampire. Kidnapped off the street, she is plunged into the dark underbelly of a world she had no clue existed. When she gets auctioned to a terrifying vampire, she tries to brace herself for the worst, but nothing could prepare her for what life will be like with her new captor.
Nikolai Chernov has a reputation for brutality that strikes fear into the hearts of humans and vampires alike. A recluse by nature, he makes the impulsive decision to acquire a blood slave, and that choice will send shock waves through both of their worlds.
An unexpected kinship forms between two people who have more in common than they would have expected. They both have darkness inside them that longs for an outlet. Will Scarlett tame Nikolai’s demons, or will he set hers free?
A dark paranormal romance with vampires, forced proximity, slow-burn tension, and a found family that proves that love can find a way even in the bleakest circumstances.
I liked this. It’s a dark vampire romance so check the trigger warnings. This is very much a slow burn but it’s good. There was some action, emotional moments, spice towards the end, a couple twists, slow burn romance, and more. It does end on a small cliffhanger. I do recommend checking this out.
When Scarlett is kidnapped and sold to a vampire, she expects to die horribly. But her buyer, the mysterious Nikolai, is not like the others. Disgusted with the tendencies of vampires, Nikolai spends his time hunting predators and freeing human slaves. His decision to buy Scarlett is the greatest of hypocrisies, but he wants to develop a close relationship with her due to the scent of her blood. As Scarlett gets to know him, she gets drawn further into his dark world. Will it set her free or will she be destroyed?
Nikolai is terribly attracted to Scarlett, but he doesn't know what to do with his feelings, leading to him making ethically questionable decisions. He's not a good man, but he does have an inner code he tries to not go against. His conflict about what he desires with Scarlett against what he is doing creates some interesting angst as he continues to pursue his selfish desires. I found his inner distress to be very humanizing and intriguing.
Scarlett on the other hand was rather bewildering. While she takes a reasonable amount of time to warm up to Nikolai, she is surprisingly quick to forgive, even when he betrays her in a surprising fashion later in the novel. She also is surprisingly comfortable living with a vampire and seemingly not doing much. It would have been helpful if we had spend some time with her prior to her abduction to see why she was fine leaving her previous life. While her decision to try to help save other women from trafficking was admirable and laudable, it was almost laughable given the strength differences between vampires and humans. This seems to lead to a surprising decision she makes in the last third of the book, through the true thought process behind this decision is not fully explored and comes across as abrupt. This decision results in some shockingly saccharine things that tonally don't mix with the rest of the book.
Overall, I loved the inner personal angst of the characters and the development of the relationship between Scarlett and Nikolai. I also enjoyed the vigilante justice and dark tone of the first two thirds of the book, but I found the last third to be a bit jarring and overly happy. While I love happy endings, this ending almost felt like it was part of a different book.

**CHECK THE TW'S**
Kidnapping, slavery, physical assault, sexual assault (fade to black), torture, murder, domestic abuse, childhood abuse/trauma (no details), 1 animal abuse scene (the animal recovers).
.5-1/5 spice level **There is an open door scene but it is not very explicit in detail. The rest of the scenes are closed door. All sexual content is towards the end of the book.**
Forced proximity (captive/captor)
Slow-burn with a little bit of tension. **This read like a master/slave (very brief moments) turned friends to lovers/slow-burn in the best freaking way possible.**
Found family
Touch her and die
Nikolai (vampire) - MMC
Scarlett (slave auction victim)- FMC
Amy (12 year old slave auction victim) - FMC
For starters, I just want to say that this book is very well written. The sentence structure, grammar, the flow of the story-line, the characters, ALL OF THE THINGS are so cohesive. There's trauma, violence, blood and gore; there's also love, patience (large amounts), autonomy (choices given back after trauma), trust, heart-warming/sweet moments. There isn't too much or too little of the dark and the light.
The MC's (all 3 of them) have the emotional intelligence that I long for in every single freaking character in every single book I have/will read!! It was so refreshing to not get annoyed at all over a really ignorant decision based on emotions. The way that Nikolai was constantly using words and actions to convey that they were safe to every victim (even the side character women) always made my vision blurry (eyelashes kept getting in my eyes). How Scarlett and Amy worked through their trauma and essentially used it and made it a strength reminded me of myself in my childhood and early adult years; that made me somewhat emotional as well.
I do not want to share any spoilers so I will not go into depth with all of my notes, but just know that you will NOT waste your time reading this book.
Sold is the kind of vampire romance that sinks its fangs into you from the first page and never lets go. Equal parts dark fantasy and twisted love story, it explores what happens when two broken souls collide in the most unlikely and dangerous circumstances.
Scarlett Williams’ life changes in an instant when she’s kidnapped and thrust into a hidden world she never knew existed. The premise alone is chilling, and the auction scene sets the tone for a story steeped in danger and uncertainty. I immediately felt for Scarlett. She’s terrified, vulnerable, and thrown into a nightmare, yet there’s a quiet resilience in her that makes her easy to root for.
And then there’s Nikolai Chernov.
What a fascinating character.
Nikolai is everything you’d expect from a feared vampire recluse: cold, brutal, and intimidating. His reputation precedes him, and it’s clear why both humans and vampires fear him. But beneath the monster lies a lonely, damaged soul burdened by demons he doesn’t quite know how to silence.
What surprised me most about this book was the emotional connection that develops between them. Their relationship isn’t instant or simple. It’s built through shared darkness, mutual understanding, and the realization that they’re both more alike than either wants to admit. The chemistry is undeniable, but it’s the vulnerability beneath the tension that makes their connection compelling.
The question at the heart of the story whether Scarlett will soothe Nikolai’s darkness or awaken her own creates a constant push and pull that kept me invested. Neither character comes away unchanged, and watching them challenge and influence one another was one of the strongest aspects of the book.
Sold by Georgia Ann drew me in immediately with its absolutely gorgeous cover and intriguing premise. I love a good rescue-from-an-auction trope, and the age gap element definitely piqued my interest. While it's marketed as a dark vampire fantasy, I personally didn't find it particularly dark (though perhaps I've simply read too many darker romances!) The darker aspects mainly stem from the brutality of other vampires who abuse or kill the human women they purchase and the eventual revenge taken out against them.
Scarlett is kidnapped and sold at a vampire auction, where she catches the attention of Nikolai. Feared by other vampires, Nikolai appears intimidating, but is anything but cruel. Instead, he secretly rescues the women sold at these auctions and works to free them. His relationship with Scarlett unfolds as a sweet, respectful slow burn with just a touch of spice. I also enjoyed the found-family element that develops as Scarlett and Nikolai eventually take in one of the younger girls Scarlett tries to protect. Watching Scarlett choose a future with Nikolai, and his world was heartwarming.
Overall, this was a well-written and genuinely sweet vampire romance. Unfortunately, it also felt very familiar. The protective, morally superior vampire hero who would destroy anyone threatening his heroine is a trope we've seen many times before, and nothing in the story particularly stood out or surprised me. I enjoyed my time reading it and don't regret picking it up. However, despite ending on a cliffhanger, I'm not especially eager to continue the series.

I adore vampire stories, and this one didn't disappoint. The background story of vampires holding auctions to trade humans was disturbing but unique. The FMC and MMC meeting through an encounter like this was not what I expected, and to be honest it felt a little wrong how nonchalant she was about the entire ordeal
The dual POVs from Scarlett and Nikolai helped see the rvents from each other's views and to give more insight into the world around them. As stated before I was weirded out about how Scarlett was never bothered that Nikolai bought her and even justified it. It read a lot like Stockholm Syndrome. I know the story later explains it better, but it took me a while to get into the story because if this.
Everything got better for me when Scarlett decided to become more powerful despite past events. She bettered herself and wanted to fight back and become a champion for the women/girls who had no one. This sold me on the story.
There is not a lot of spice in this book. This is very much a book of finding your own power, and the romance takes a backseat. I may have rated it 5 stars if it had not been sold as a dark romance.
All in all, I rated this 4 stars. I originally had it at 3.5 because the writing felt rushed early on with a lot of repetition, and also the whole lack of romance. However, the author found her stride mid-story and gave us the budding hope of love after loss and found family at the end. All in all, well done. I would definitely read any sequels to see where Scarlett and Nokolai's story goes next.
Not a long read, and can be done in a day, but if you like putting a book down there are points where it can be done without worrying that you will miss something. Do check your trigger warning where there are a few that might be sensitive to some readers.
At the start we are introduced to Scarlett who is standing on a stage being auctioned off to a room of men and women, but she doesn’t know who or what they are….after she is sold for 100K, and is sent back stage to the holding cell she is thrown into the world of monsters when she sees one of the girls being bitten and drained of blood only to be discarded by the monster who bought her, she even tries to save a little girl from the same fate only to be hit by the monster who bought the little girl. Nikolai then comes into the picture when he takes Scarlett from the cell and puts her into his car and drives her home. Of course Scarlett is scared, and has to worry what her fate will be.
There is great dialogue between the characters, and you do get to know some of their backgrounds. There were parts of the story that were cute (getting the dog) and others were just like WTF (getting all the other animals, but there is no mention of them after that).
The ending was kind of a let down, but it did leave the possibility for a second book… who knows if there will be more adventures of Scarlett and Nikolai, and maybe Amy will be in a book in the future… who knows.

Sold is a dark vampire romantasy that will suck you in right from the beginning. I read this all in one sitting because Nikolai is absolute perfection and I couldn't get enough of him! Scarlett is kidnapped off the street and being sold at a vampire auction. As she's being auctioned though, she sees a young girl being hurt and tries to step in to help. She isn't able to do much to help the girl until she's bought by Nikolai. Nikolia has a reputation for being ruthless and brutal, but upon being captured and taken to his home, he isn't anything like she thought. He seeks her permission for everything before doing anything to her, carefully explains everything to her so she knows what to expect, and is basically an open book to answering any questions she could possibly have. She is not his captive. She is allowed to leave if she chooses. All he asks for is a little blood every week. He is such a gentleman about it, careful and protective. But she can't get that young girl out of her head. That's when Nikolai tells her, he went back and saved her. Her name is Amy and he will take Scarlett to meet her. They meet and click right away and after learning that Amy's family is who sold her to the vampire auction, Scarlett vows to protect Amy and she moves in with Scarlett and Nikolai. Scarlett hates what happened to her and to Amy and joins forces with Nikolai to take down as many rings as they can. I loved this story. It is a bit of a slow burn. But once they give in, they are so good together. If you live vampire romances, this was a good one!!!
quote: "One person's trauma doesn't cancel out someone else's."
review: Holy slow burn. This is definitely not your typical Vampire Romance.
Such a crazy start to this book as we see Scarlett, the FMC, being auctioned off in a slave trade amongst vampires. This mystery man who intimidates everyone, including vampires, bet on Scarlett and ends up getting sold to him. As Nikolai (Nick), the MMC, goes to the back to collect Scarlett we see some other girls being hurt in the process. This girl in particular we meet as Amy, a reoccuring side character, is the youngest in the group and who Scarlett tries to help despite both of them getting sold to separate cruel monsters... or so we think they're both cruel monsters.
This book will take you on a roller coaster ride that will have you falling in love and breaking your heart JUST to put it back together. We see the characters interact with one another in such a way that fixes all the brokenness throughout this book. The ending leaves room for interpretation that there could be more books regarding the characters, but only time will tell. In true slow burn fashion, the last (giver or take) 20% or so is where we see BOTH main characters share their chemistry. If there's more books in the future involving these characters, I will definitely be reading it!

I received an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.
The synopsis of this book intrigued me and I was really interested to see how the story played out. There's no lead up, it jumps right in with Scarlet being sold at auction. What follows is a story of fear, loss, betrayal, violence, slow burn and found family. The portrayal of Nick made me think of Elijah Mikaelson, from The Originals, that calm, composed exterior hiding his brutality. His pull to Scarlet completely out of his control, the way Caroline & Cami drew the attention of Klaus Mikaelson. Scarlet refused to let her past define who she was, refused to let the horrors overwhelm her and instead used them to fuel change. She has a stubborn streak, a defiance that could have made things go very differently if it hadn't been for that pull that saw Nick buy her. The development of the relationship between them is slow, measured, tempered by his need for her trust. I didn't expect the outcome to be what it was, but it fit perfectly with the story. I expected more in the section with Nigel, it felt too short, too easy, which is why this didn't quite hit the 5 ⭐ but as a fan of The Originals and German shepherds, I thoroughly enjoyed this book, trying to take my time, it was difficult to put down.
T Here’s something about a morally ambiguous vampire that consistently captivates me.
“Sold” was an incredibly enjoyable read. From the very first chapters, I was drawn into the dark and suspenseful atmosphere, eagerly anticipating Scarlett’s journey and the challenges she would face.
Scarlett’s resilience and unwavering strength in the face of adversity truly impressed me. Despite the hardships she endured, she remained grounded and composed, and I found myself deeply invested in her evolving relationship with Nikolai. Initially intimidating, Nikolai’s backstory gradually revealed the reasons behind his actions, allowing me to empathize with his character.
The slow-burn romance between Scarlett and Nikolai was perfectly executed. It wasn’t an instant connection, and witnessing the gradual build-up of trust between them made every emotional moment more profound and satisfying.
The portrayal of the vampire world was intriguing without becoming overwhelming. The darker themes were skillfully balanced with moments of hope and the concept of found family, creating a well-rounded and emotionally resonant narrative.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed “Sold” and left with a strong desire for more of this captivating world and its compelling characters.
This was totally not what I expected it to be. If you’re looking for a dark romance with minimal/closed door spice and a cinnamon roll MMC, then this may be the book for you. I actually would hesitate to call it ‘dark’ but then again, it’s all a spectrum. This ends up being a sweet paranormal romance that includes forced proximity and slow burn tension.
The start of the book is filled with excitement and suspense. As the story moves on, it becomes more about the relationship between Scarlet, the blood slave, and Nikolai, the ancient vampire. Nikolai is giving, well meaning, and although he does not plan on letting Scarlet go, he is kind to her and wants to make her happy. He wants her more for a companion than just for her blood. As they become closer and Scarlet trusts him, the two of them begin to seek vigilante justice for the worst of societies’ members while creating their own found family.
The writing is easy to read, if somewhat predictable, and Nikolai is definitely the vampire you would want to buy you as a blood save. This is the first book in a series and the epilogue leaves you with a bit of a cliffhanger.
Sold: A Dark Vampire Fantasy is an excellent and easy read. You will not want to put it down. Loved the dual POV between human Scarlett and Vampire Nikolai.
We start with Scarlett who has been abducted and taken to be auctioned in the black market as a slave. She soon realises that vampires really exist and she will be sold to the highest bidder. They are cruel and violent, not caring about the girls.
When a young girl, Amy, is about to be handed over, Scarlett puts herself between them protectively. But she is not match for them.
Scarlett is purchased by Nikolai Chernov who is a very respected/feared older vampire. He has plans for Scarlett but all is not what it seems.
The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that I wanted so much more from Chapter 25 with the vampire Nigel. I felt that it was sped through too fast and could have added so much more. However, it is an amazing story!
Key tropes: Age gap (500+ years) Slow burn romance (chapter 26 >) Found family He falls first
All in a wonderful read.

This book was absolutely not what I expected—and honestly, that made it even better!
If you're looking for a typical spicy vampire romance, this isn't it. Instead, you'll find a slow-burn story with a fantastic cast of characters that quickly stole my heart.
Nick was easily my favorite. He's a vampire, but also somehow the most wholesome character ever. Forget book boyfriend status—I think I just want him to adopt me! Scarlett was strong and determined from the start, and I loved seeing her become even more fierce and protective throughout the story. And Amy? My heart broke for her. She's been through so much, and I'm really excited to see where her journey goes in future books. As for Freya... absolute queen. No further comments needed.
Overall, Sold was an unexpected and enjoyable read with memorable characters, great relationships, and a story that left me eager for the next installment. If you enjoy slow-burn paranormal romance with heart, definitely give this one a try!
I received an advance reader copy for free and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book has dark slow burn romance, violence (check the trigger warnings), forced proximity, found family and more.
The FMC, Scarlett is sold at a vampire auction. The bidding winner, Nikolai although feared by his counterparts turns out to be a tenderhearted vampire who had a strong attraction to Scarlett and has no plans of enslaving her.
Nikolai saved Scarlett from ending up in the vicious hands of a ruthless vampire. Although initially held by Nikolai against her will, she stays with him voluntarily. After realizing she doesn’t have to fear him, Scarlett eventually grows to want to join Nikolai to destroy the auction rings and save the girls who are held captive.
Overall, the book reads more like a YA. It ends in somewhat of a cliff hanger, so another book likely to follow. Although I thought some aspects were drawn out, especially in the beginning (the word vampire was too redundant and some scenes could have been condensed), the writing improved as the book progressed which helped me be more invested in the story and character development. Overall, I enjoyed the book and would read future books by this author.
Okkkkk so, this was definitely not even remotely what I expected, which left me pleasantly surprised. It’s a slow burn, with a little spice and the first part to an unfinished series. If you’re looking for your typical spicy vampire romance - this is not that.
Imagine a vigilante vampire with a heart of gold and that is Nick and I loved him from the beginning - not even as a lusty book boyfriend, I think I want Nick to adopt me. Can a vampire adopt an adult??
Scarlett is strong from the very beginning even when she was terrified. She only gets stronger and more fiercely protective over people she cares about as the story progresses.
Amy. This poor girl. She has been through so much in her short life. I hope throughout the series her character grows into a force to be reckoned with.
Freya… Queen. No notes.
Sold is an unexpectedly good read with characters that will steal your heart
Scarlett and Nikolai's story would definitely be classified as a slow burn. But that didn't mean it was loveless up until their love confession at the end. Before that, was vigilante shit 🥷; figuring out Amy's foster home situation 🫂; and Scarlett discovering the ways of Nikolai's vampirism 🩸.
In my opinion, this book was not overly dark. Yes there were mentions of other vampires non-con humans for blood and abuse and possibly more and the going ons of Amy's foster father abusing her. But Nikolai was THE king of consent; very progressive for his 500 year age. He never forced Scarlett into situations she didnt want, and the romance at the end was gentle and loving 🥰
I think this story was cute, filled with some minor dark bits. But, I would love to stay at Nikolai's manor and be a part of his and Scarlett's little family. (Also, small note: YAY FREYA! love her)
*Read as an ARC, my review is all my own thoughts.*
The set up for the book was great. It kept me engaged whereas most slow burns are tougher for me to finish. I will say that when I saw it titled “dark vampire fantasy”, I envisioned more spiciness to it.
Scarlett is kidnapped and forced into a dark universe filled with vampires. When one becomes entranced by her, he buys her from an auction and does what he needs to in order for her stay with him. I loved the relationships Scarlett developed through out the story and love that Nick, the fearless vampire, sometimes made mistakes and was a well rounded character. The book ends with a slight cliffhanger which leaves the reader, myself included, wanting to know what will happen next.
Overall, this book was an easy read and beautifully written. The only downside for me is I wish the romance began sooner and the “dark” would have added a bit more spiciness.
Thank you to booksirens and to author Georgia Ann for the advanced free copy. I truly enjoyed it!
I really enjoyed this book. Its a fast paced, fun read with some wtf and uh oh moments. Lol.
Scarlett is kidnapped off the street for an underground vampire auction to be sold to the highest vampire bidder. She just knew she was going to die a horrible death at the hands of whomever bought her.
Nikolai just happened to be out and about the night of the auction and 'smelled' Scarlett's blood. Curiosity got the best of him and he finds himself inside the auction and bid the highest bid on Scarlett. He takes her to his home where he gives her free run of the house and not as a prisoner as she had expected.
That's all im going to give away about this book. You have to experience it for yourself. I will say that if you like story and plot and pretty much closed door spice, a cinnamon roll MMC with vampire/human connections, then you will definitely enjoy this book. Oh and did I mention, Scarlett is a bad ass!
I really liked the 2 main characters in this book. Scarlett was such a strong woman, both physically and mentally. She is kidnapped and taken to an auction where she is sold for $100,000 to Nick.
However, Nikolai isn't the brutal monster she feared. He's a vampire, but he treats her like a guest and gets her the things she wants.
In exchange, she allows him to drink from her once a week.
Nikolai is a strong vampire that the other vampires fear, but he's got a conscience that prevents him from hurting innocents.
Honestly, any woman would want a man like that in her life!
The story and the relationship between the 2 of them evolves over the book. It truly is a slow burn, and the bit of spice is only in the last 10%.
The relationship evolves from friendship to more,
There's no ciffhanger but there is a hint of the next book.
I received an Advanced Copy, and I'm voluntarily leaving my honest review.
To be completely honest, this book left me wanting more. I definitely wouldn't call this a dark romance by any means. The characters felt very one dimensional and several parts of the story felt rushed or half done. I liked the base of the story, I just wish the author had dug into it significantly more. I don't know these people and 300 pages later, I still don't feel like I know these people. I did enjoy the dual POV, I enjoyed who the characters had potential to be. I just wish the book was twice as long to give the author the ability to dig deeper.
There's a ton of one sided yearning, gained trust, and found family.
If you're looking for a cozy, closed door romance, give this one a shot, maybe not if you're looking for dark romance smut.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I will start by saying I actually like the story and the characters far more than the 3-star rating would imply. The lower rating is because the author needs to take more time to set the scene and let us get to know the characters.
Why are there slavers kidnapping women and girls and yet society still doesn’t know vampires exist? Who was Scarlett before she was kidnapped? Who was Nick before he found her? What does Amy look like and what does the house look like?
Also, there was almost no showing in the book - we were told everything. Again, I meant that I actually liked the characters because I had access to their very clearly articulated inner thoughts, but it also meant that anyone who was a secondary cast member was completely undeveloped and that the author was able to cram material from what easily could have been at least two books into one.
Again, even for all this, there is something here that kept me turning pages, and rooting for Nick and Scarlett. So that is a huge positive.
I would just suggest that the author slow down a little, describe the couch, describe the dress and let the tensions build a little more in the fight scenes. Don’t just “take out a few more vampires” as you go down the hall - tell us more an out the hall, the vampires and exactly how you took them out.
ARC Review—From BookSirens Star Rating: 4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ Pub Date: July 1st, 2026 Genre: Paranormal/Dark Romance Format: Digital
I loved this from beginning to end and man talk about slow burn. I personally don’t consider this a dark romance it is kinda dark but not like others. This was entertaining and such a fun read. I loved how Nikolai treated Scarlett which was a wtf moment when the reason for Nikolai to have bought Scarlett. Not giving anything away but it was a great interesting read. No romance literally after the 70% mark but it was so worth it! I didn’t even expect what happened to happen. Loved it and I love vampires lol I personally loved the characters as well. Great story
An interesting story where a vampire buys a human female at an auction. But he’s not a normal vampire. He doesn’t act like a typical vampire and appears to be very sensitive to the girls needs. I found it interesting because I was expecting it to be more like most vampire romance, and to some extent it is, but it isn’t. I enjoyed reading about the two main characters, how they communicated with each other, how he treated her with so much care. However I think I would have liked there to be more of a love story, romance, sex than there was. That was my only complaint.

I really liked how the book began. It just jumped right into the story and left the reader wondering how we got here. Those questions do get answered after a bit and for me, I enjoy that style of writing.
It is a dual POV story, which I like. Seeing the story through both MC's POV's is very important in a story like this. It was the right amount of slow burn, leaving me wondering if they would or wouldn't go further.
I wish we had gotten more of their vigilante scenes. If the author had gone further into that story line, I would have given this a 5 star review. Still an enjoyable read though.

This book was honestly a fun book to read once you got through the start. It was a slow start for me and I almost DNF'd. I am so glad that I pushed through though because it was such a relaxing read.
I expected the book to be darker than it was because of how it started but I like that it toned out and I was able to enjoy the characters for who they were.
If you are wanting a fast vampire read and an intro to this author I definitely recommend. There are some trigger warnings though so proceed with caution. 💛💛
I received an advanced reader copy of this book and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
From the very first page, this book completely blindsided me. I love stories that don't hold your hand through a slow introduction, and this one drops you right into a living nightmare. There is no comforting "meet-cute" here; the initial tension between the main characters immediately had my heart racing. What kept me completely hooked was the emotional complexity of the dual POV. The story is deeply raw and relatable, balanced out by some high-tension, spicy moments that felt completely earned. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
ARC read. This was given to me by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I liked the storyline, although I think it had potential to be stronger throughout the book. This is a cute, closed door type of vampire book. It was slow burn too.
In my opinion, this isn’t what I would label as dark romance. If you take that label away, for me this is a cute quick vampire read.
I would have loved more backstory, and the story setting to have more scenes outside of the house. And some things seemed unnecessary, like buying animals that were never mentioned again.
My hopes for this story were high going in, and remained that way coming out. I was hoping that this story didn’t mimic that of Twilight, and thankfully, I wasn’t disappointed. Yes, there are familiar aspects because of it being a story about vampires, so the folklore has to be relative. And the initial appeal Nikolai has to Scarlett relates Edward’s attraction to Bella Swan. The author kept the story moving along, I just can’t divulge anymore information without more information without giving away their story. Grab your own copy of this book and get sucked in yourself. Enjoy!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The book was ok. It is fast read, kinda predictable.
However, it was ok until Scarlett get angry with Nick for saving her from mental trauma. She can't be serious?!
I actually never liked her or her how she always considered Nick and monster. If not by words, then in her head. I understand her fear of him for the first few chapters, but he showed her again and again that he can be trusted. He did a lot for her. And honestly, Nick deserves better.
