A prince from a small traditional country comes to UK to finally be free as an anonymous person. But the treat of a stalker's letters make him in the need of a bodyguard. So now , the cute and short Max need to be with the prince 24/7 and told to everybody that they are dating to cover Max´s suddenly appearance in Luke´s (the prince) life.
The #2 is still my fav but I liked this one :D!
Plus, it has interesting mystery!

Well, that's three for three in this thoroughly entertained series from RJ Scott.
Now this one, I didn't guess who the bad guy was going to be and it was a clever twist to the stalker plot.
Lucien was a sweetheart, a prince but without any of the pleasures that can come with a life of privilege. He badly needed someone to see beyond his position and to the real man underneath.
Max was perfect for that and I liked that he was prickly and took his time falling for Lucien. There was great pacing in this book and the tension build up with was perfect.
Now book four and hopefully bossman Kyle finally gets his unrequited love returned!

Book 3) ***Prince Lucien (Luke) and Bodyguard Max*** are made for each other. Each one fills a need in the other. Someone is threatening the Prince and letters are found inside his house. Lucien just wants to finish school and swim, simple things because he's always been alone, secluded, in his own private bubble. Max takes the job because he's drawn to the man and doesn't want anything to happen to him.
They each grow to care about the other, and slowly build a relationship. There are twists and turns, a dead body, mystery, an attack, suspense, and hot sex to keep you reading at a fast pace. I would have liked more background on Max, but the deep feelings were there and we like our characters. The unlikely stalker/killer is revealed, and then the couple has plans. I liked it !!
Looking forward to the next one in this terrific series.

When bodyguard Max Connery is called to headquarters to meet his new assignment, Prince Lucien, he doesn’t expect to encounter the shy, sweet, young man who wants nothing more than to finish his university studies and to continue to participate on the swim team.
Max looks younger than his twenty-eight years and, in fact, is often mistaken for being under twenty-one. He’s five foot nine, blond, muscular, and a former RAF pilot who retired after his plane crashed and the ejection mechanism failed to get him out before being injured. He’s overcome his disability but not interested in going back.
Lucien is twenty-five, having delayed starting university due to problems in his homeland and his own personal issues surrounding the death of his younger brother, which he took hard and was slow to recover from. He’s received threatening letters from a stalker, both in his homeland and now again in Wales where he attends school, but he refuses to leave, because attaining his degree and competing with the swim team are very important to him. Besides, the letters aren’t really outright threats to him, or requests for money; they are more like missives with hidden meanings and he won’t give in to his stalker. They decide that Max can pretend to be his boyfriend, rent one of the rooms in Luke’s apartment, and hang out with the swim team, even if it means swimming with them.
Most of the story is the development of the romance between Max and Luke who are not able to stay away from each other. Max is experienced but has never been in love. Luke is a virgin but has had one minor experience in the past. They are attracted to each other right from the start, though it takes a while for Max to overcome his reticence to get involved with a client.
There’s quite a bit of speculation about the source of the letters Luke receives since they don’t explicitly state anything threatening, and there’s a lot of discussion between Max and people at the BI office, but it takes a while for the clues to start to make sense. I would have liked to know more about Max’s employer, Kyle, and his assistant, Ross. There’s an implied backstory there, but not having read the first books, it’s hard to determine what it is. The blurbs for the first books don’t mention the formation of BI or Kyle’s and Ross’s names so, although this book can be read as a standalone, readers who have a chance to read this series in sequence should do so.
The story also has a subplot about Luke’s roommate who was addicted to pain medication and a few scenes involving a drug dealer who was eventually murdered in their house by Luke’s stalker. One subplot that seemed to be out of the realm of believable is the fact that Max showed up at the swim team training with Luke and was not only accepted there with him but included in the practices and eventually as a backup for competitive meets. I just couldn’t buy that one—not on a university team.
The conclusion was anti-climactic and overall the story seemed very unlike the R.J. Scott books I’ve read in the past. This one was too simple, light, fluffy—I’m not even sure I can find the right word. I’d recommend this to those who like a very light, fairly short, hot M/M romance with a twist of mystery and intrigue.

That quote about summed this series up. The way I see it, Kyle would soon run a matchmaking agency aside to providing close protection service. :p
A still-carded-looking operative with a RAF background. I got smitten just from that description. ;D
Meet Max Connery, a shorty one of Bodyguards Inc. and his charge, student prince Lucien Magrello. This assignment had Max posing as fellow student and Lucien's boyfriend.
After a rather fierce starting (with giant hulking Teddy) the story pace quite slowly until about half way in. It filled mostly with daily accounts of our MCs. Nothing too exciting, really (even the start of sex acts were rather dreary)... and then the pool incident happened.
The story actually got a bit interesting after that. Alas, how the case solved and "mystery" revealed seemed rather incidental. Somehow despite cringing at the title, I was rather hopeful because the hero was not this big bad guy (he was sort of average, leaning on short) and very standoffish; I didn't see the camaraderie that BI colleagues had as in previous books. Only somehow he appeared so detached that I didn't feel chemistry between Max and Lucien.
Individually I liked the characters and the plot. But they all don't meshed so well together, made it tasted like an undercooked dish.
You put a gay bodyguard with a gay charge and you're going to get some fireworks if the two men liked each other that way.

With each book I read in the Bodyguards, Inc series, I'm getting more and more hooked on RJ Scott's writing. I love how the plots put normal people in slightly not-so-normal situations (after all, how many people do you know who actually need a bodyguard?), then we get to see how she skillfully manipulates their situations to produce a result that gives us two people in love--all with it being believable and not at all forced.
Though Max is presented as a baby-faced twenty-eight year old, we are well informed of his past experience and because of the backstory we are given and his words and actions during the story, I saw him as a mature, responsible and protective even when he's put in the situation of being a college student. Lucien comes across as a bit sad and lonely, but still as compassionate and loyal. Their matchup doesn't quite ring all my bells, there felt like there was the slightest bit of disconnect between them-though I can't put my finger on exactly why.
But when the two of them are together, they do feel comfortable as a couple-if not necessarily a passionate, perfect match (at least to me). It felt more like they were thrown together and clung to each other as what each need at this point in their lives. It may be the lack of an epilogue showing them down the road that has me feeling that way since we don't get to see how their relationship fares going forward.
The suspense is kept up throughout the story just as it was in the first two books of the series, and it kept me drawn in trying to guess who the real threat was supposed to be. I honestly had no clue. I really like getting both Max and Lucien's points of view as it gives the story more depth as well as clearly showing us how both of them feel.
We don't see much of the rest of the Bodyguards, Inc. guys in this book, just a bit of Kyle and Ross (PLEASE tell me we get a book for them soon!), this time the supporting cast was mostly Lucien's swim team mates and Jamie, one of his housemates. I liked the part of the storyline with Jamie as it really shows Lucien's compassionate nature that I mentioned previously.
Max and the Prince is another solid entry in The Bodyguards, Inc. series, and was a good 4-star read for me. If you're a fan of the series, or just M/M romance/romantic suspense, you'll definitely want to add this to your collection. Recommended for 18+ for adult language and M/M sexual content.

Cool that she didn't make the bodyguard too young to be appropriate for the role. Cool, too, that she made them closer in age so that the attraction later will make sense.
Awesome that 5' 9" isn't considered short as it is, in fact, about average for the UK. I love that he's average height. That is so rare in these books. They're always either huge or tiny.
A 400 year old house is a normal house? Wow.
He has meds. Interesting.
Pasta is not "good for you."
It's weird that Max is hanging out at the swim team practice, listening in to what the coach says, when he's not on the team. I would think that wouldn't sit well.
Why didn't he have background checks done on the lifeguards?
They don't have a coach? Just a team captain? That makes no sense.
I like that they're not automatically first and best at every race.
Competitive guys on a collegiate swim team don't have long hair.
Every book I've read about bodyguards recently (and I've read several) mention the movie The Bodyguard and say life's not like that. Then they go on to do exactly that.
I can't picture this house that has four rooms plus four half baths upstairs but only a kitchen, living area and full bath down. The living room has only one couch so how big can it be? And the bedrooms aren't too tiny because they're the same size as Max's at home. Are these like those German chalet type things where the top overhangs the bottom?
Why am I not as enamored of Lucien as I am with Max? He's kind of wimpy. Maybe that's it.
Why doesn't Max look in the abandoned bag?
Do people with no fat like a competitive swimmer float automatically if they're not dead?
What a difference between the UK and US. It was "only a fifteen-minute walk and not worth using Max's car for." It's the middle of the night on January and freezing cold. There was ample parking (because, oddly, students don't generally have cars!) Here in the U.S., that is definitely time to drive the car, and students have cars unless they live in a huge city.
Excellent action, thrills, danger, but sadly no peril. Still, this is a five star read except I never really connected with the prince. I think it may be--and I'm ashamed to admit this--because I pictured him so much bigger than Max, I saw him as being weak and pathetic, whereas if he had been smaller, I would have loved him.

When you think of a bodyguard you probably imagine tall and muscular when you meet Max he is short and lean. He also looks a lot younger than his years with his baby face features. Looks can be deceiving. Max can get the drop on much bigger men and more often than not has the element of surprise.
When you think of a Prince you probably weren’t imagining Lucien. Known to his few friends as Luke he lives pretty much like every other student at Uni and there is certainly no pomp and ceremony following him around. As Max looks young enough to pass as a student there is no one better for the job when the Prince’s life is in danger.
This is a sweet love story with a slow burn and a dose of speedo’s. The attraction is obvious from the start but Luke’s inexperience and hang-ups from the past and Max’s dedication to his job don’t make it easy for either of them.
The threat to Luke’s life is a memory from his past, a past littered with sadness and feelings of not being good enough. In the end it seems almost too simple yet is dangerous enough to be extremely serious. Max will have to shatter some of Luke’s illusions to catch the perpetrator and keep his young charge safe.

This third book in the increasingly fantastic 'Bodyguards, Inc.' series starts with a more "traditonal" assignment - if there is such a thing. An experienced bodyguard keeping a prince safe is not all that unusual, I would think. But that is where the expected stops.
Prince Lucien is determined to stay incognito while he finishes university in the UK and swims for the university team. Never mind what his family want or the fact that he's been receiving weirdly stalkerish letters. Hence, the need for a bodyguard. Max looks young enough to be a student, so he goes in as Lucien's boyfriend, much against what the prince wants. As they get closer and try to find the stalker, the inevitable happens and playacting turns into reality...
If you like this series, if you enjoy an unexpected romance and some mysterious goings-on, and if you're looking for a read full of action, entertaining sparring between main characters, and some hot loving, then you will probably like this novel.

There is something about the thought of a bodyguard and a prince that just makes my heart go la-di-da-di-da-yum-yum. How about yours?
For this Bodyguards Inc. installment, we have baby faced Max Connery who becomes bodyguard to a prince. The prince is not the heir to the throne so that is good for it means the protocols are different. Somewhat. That there are bodies falling around him thanks to a nameless, sexless, unknown stalker, makes the case a little bit more interesting.
This all begins quite simply, with Max and the prince Lucien or Luke, gets to know one another and begins their companionship as client and protector. There is an immediate attraction but neither one does anything about it. Well, not really. They were quite conscious of their positions. However, playing the role of a boyfriend can put the two into some interesting situations so whent he first kiss is exchanged, that was when the rules flew out the window. Max gets over protective and Lucien gets to feel more and experience more than he had ever had before. Thus begins the little romance that blooms into something both want but do not know where it will take them. There is still the killer/stalker ont he loose.
I like fairy tale romances and technically, this is one. Reading it through, the fairy tale moves off to the background for it is only the position as client that comes into focus. As Max continues to protect and investigate, he realizes that the mystery is too simple, making it very complicated. Anyone can be the stalker. That makes their situation worse and the thrill of the story increases.
This is the third of a romantic and thrilling series where each story just keeps getting better and better. After the satisfaction of seeing Max off to the sunset with his lover prince beside him, now I am just getting curioser and curioser about Kyle and Ross, which I have been wanting to read about since the first book. There is something about the thought of a bodyguard and a prince that just makes my heart go la-di-da-di-da-yum-yum. How about yours?
For this Bodyguards Inc. installment, we have baby faced Max Connery who becomes bodyguard to a prince. The prince is not the heir to the throne so that is good for it means the protocols are different. Somewhat. That there are bodies falling around him thanks to a nameless, sexless, unknown stalker, makes the case a little bit more interesting.
This all begins quite simply, with Max and the prince Lucien or Luke, gets to know one another and begins their companionship as client and protector. There is an immediate attraction but neither one does anything about it. Well, not really. They were quite conscious of their positions. However, playing the role of a boyfriend can put the two into some interesting situations so whent he first kiss is exchanged, that was when the rules flew out the window. Max gets over protective and Lucien gets to feel more and experience more than he had ever had before. Thus begins the little romance that blooms into something both want but do not know where it will take them. There is still the killer/stalker ont he loose.
I like fairy tale romances and technically, this is one. Reading it through, the fairy tale moves off to the background for it is only the position as client that comes into focus. As Max continues to protect and investigate, he realizes that the mystery is too simple, making it very complicated. Anyone can be the stalker. That makes their situation worse and the thrill of the story increases.

Max Connery, bodyguard, former pilot with the RAF, gets a new client as part of his job with Bodyguards Inc. Prince Lucien comes with a nice set of baggage, in the form of one, or maybe two stalkers. He’s convinced his parents to let him attend university at Cardiff, where he’s on the swim team. No one knows he’s a prince, and he goes by the name Luke. The young appearing Max will fit right in, playing the part of Luke’s boyfriend and new swim team member. Max is determined to not only protect his charge, but also figure out who is stalking Luke. Along the way, the two engage in a little sex, then fall in lurve….
I liked this book, but it didn’t have the same emotional impact for me as the last two did. I’m not sure why, there isn’t anything wrong with it, it may have been that I wasn’t able to sit down and focus on it as much as I would have liked, but I didn’t bond with Lucien as much as I could have. I liked the stalker storyline, I really had no idea who the bad guy was until it is revealed, so I liked how that played out. I didn’t see as much emotional connection between Lucien and Max maybe, and there was a little distaction with Jamie, one of Lucien’s roommates. Anyway, I did like it, it’s a good, solid addition to the series.
Although I say Jamie distracted me from Lucien and Max, I was very intrigued by him. I hope we see him again at some point, I’d love to know what happens with him. I did like Max and Lucien as characters, Lucien has just the right balance of innocence and snobbery, which Max has to learn how to deal with. Max was good as well, he was a little harder to read, but I did like him. There aren’t a lot of sex scenes between them, I wish there had been a little more emotional connection, but I did like them.
I am enjoying this series, I’m so glad I grabbed them! I’m looking forward to the next one!

Lucien just wants to complete his education in peace. No one at university knows he is royalty and he would like to keep it that way. But someone is making threats. And the threats are serious enough to force his parents to provide protection or make him return home. Lucien chooses protection but will he survive the choice? Max doesn’t really care to protect a spoiled prince but his job doesn’t offer many choices. And then he meets the prince in question and must rearrange his thinking 180 degrees.
I enjoyed reading Max and the Prince by R. J. Scott. This was my first time reading this author and it will not be the last. Ms. Scott gave me a well written story. Luke has dealt with pain and is trying to move past his grief in a way that is much more mature than he has handled it in the past. But his past doesn’t seem to want to stay there. Max may appear more put together, but he also has not faced his past. He lost the career he loved and while he still gets to use the skills he learned while in the military it isn’t quite the same. I loved that Ms. Scott took these two men and together they found something in each other. Both understood pain and while they handled it differently, they did learn. Luke was more than the sum of his title and with Max’s help he was able to let go and be sure that he would be safe. And Max opened up and allowed someone to empathize with his losses. I enjoyed their journey toward a happily ever after and look forward to seeing who else will have their happily ever after in this series.

Speedos.....
A great addition to the Bodyguard Inc. series! I fell for Lucien and Max from the start. Their attraction for each other was obvious and sweet from the beginning. I enjoyed how the story progressed and that we got to visit with Kyle and Ross a little. Lucien's friendship and support of Jamie was great as well. A true friend and everyone needs that in their lives. Looking forward to the next book in this series and crossing fingers that it is Ross and Kyle's.

These books are more about relationships then the related crimes but it was an interesting one, still. A bit unexpected and a bit gruesome.
I really liked Max and Luke. They make a nice match. They both had their share of trauma they both dealt in their own ways. There was something vulnerable about Lucien. But also a strength. And I liked how Max wanted to protect him but also admired him.
I really liked the epilogue.

I enjoyed this read. There was enough action and romance between Max and Lucien to keep the reader interested. While discovering who the culprit was seemed obvious, I wasn't really able to figure it out on my own and that made for a good mystery.

There's a lot in this book that doesn't make sense. Prince Lucien is a college student, on the school swim team. Max is his body guard. No one ever questions when he moves into student housing, attends classes and participates in a school swim meet.
So, maybe I'm being too picky and that kind of minute detail is unnecessary.
Next there is the actual swimming. My kids are competitive swimmers so I know a lot about it. It is clear that the author did not research anything about the sport and that irritates me and confuses me. Why would you choose to write about this sport if you didn't know the sport and were unwilling to research it? See, when the author mentioned that the MC was going to swim the 800m free, 400m fly and 4x400 free relay in a meet, I thought to myself not ONE of those is an event for a male college swimmer. Then, I stopped myself and thought, hey, you are making assumptions here. Maybe college swimming in England is different from what you know. So , I typed "UK college swimming" into my phone browser. It took me about 4 minutes to get out of the loop of University of Kentucky swimming and into England college swimming where I found in less than two minutes that the 800 free is a race for females, men swim the 1500m free. There is no 4x400 free relay, it is a 4x100 free relay (total 400m) and no one EVER races 400m of butterfly. So a total of 6 minutes of research to verify. Other stuff -- breaststroke is never the 3rd leg of the medley relay -- that's an automatic DQ, races aren't started with a whistle. Of course the training mentioned in the book didn't make a lot of sense, and it doesn't make sense that a non-competitive swimmer would be ready to compete is a few days or weeks.
Anyway, I find it insulting and disrespectful when an author presents blatantly incorrect information - -stick with what you know or spend a few minutes looking it up.

3.75 This was my favourite of the three, although I feel like it had the potential to go most wrong with power imbalances. But Lucien seems to be very nominally a Prince, and I really appreciated that the age gap between Lucien and Max is so minimal. Lucien and Max spend a lot of time together over weeks, which I liked. They had a few heart-to-hearts, which I appreciated. But it still felt in some ways like they didn’t get to know one another that well and most of their advancements were physical.
I didn’t like Max keeping secrets at all (and while there was a confrontation about it, I feel like he’d do the exact same thing over again, which I didn’t love from equal relationship perspective). A couple things were never explained like Max suddenly competing in a college swim competition. Did he actually get a fake identity as an enrolled student? Characters had some complications, not perfect but usually not horrible, which made everything feel more life-like. In many ways this somehow felt cozy despite the serious things that happened.

I am so grateful to my husband, who came and saw my intense involvement, and brought the wine to me! Max and (Prince Lucien) Luke are fated one for another… Where one is weak, the other is strong. They make a great couple… if they would just realize they were meant for each other… Oh, and if there weren’t people dropping like flies around them! Someone is sending vague, and not so vague threats anonymously… Can Max’s military training help him to protect his man (oh, I mean Client) and keep him safe? I love a HEA! RJ Scott, this isn’t fair! Lucien is a prince and has been receiving threats, so he hires Max as his bodyguard to protect him. What I loved best is that Max is not the stereotypical 6 foot plus, muscle-bound, God-like bodyguard. He actually suits the role he's supposed to play, which is Lucien's boyfriend at school and his age and body-type are similar enough to fit in on a college campus. This was a sweet story, a few sexy moments, with the mystery of the stalker/threat to Lucien being quite a surprise. I enjoyed it, it was a nice way to spend a few hours.

Max and The Prince, is the third book in RJ Scott's Bodyguard Inc series.
It will keep you guessing, keep you invested in the events, and you'll fall in love with Max and Lucian. They are so damn sweet together. I adore Lucien for just wanting someone to see the real man beneath the title. And Max definitely took his time falling for him, but it's perfectly done.
The plot definitely has it's share of twists and turns, leaving the reader guessing. There are dead bodies, attacks, and a stalker to deal with, keeping the action flowing.

Going undercover is something Bodyguard max is used to doing. But when he has to pretend to be the boyfriend of Lucien things are not what they seem. Like someone is out to kill Prince Lucien and oh yeah - no one at the school knows he is a Prince. When the danger increases so does Max's feeling for Luke. Can he fall in love and keep him protected at the same time. The boys of Bodyguards Inc. are dropping like flies -but what a way to go. Filled with great characters and a fast paced storyline makes this a great read.

This is another solid entry in the Bodyguards Inc. series. I always enjoy these and come back to the series when I need a good read that I know will be thoughtful and have just the right mix of mystery and romance. This one was about Max and Lucien. They started out at odds but quickly found that they were attracted to each other. The story was solid with just the right amount of mystery to solve.

Somehow the ending was a little underwhelming. The worst part was that I was enjoying the book at the beginning and when I realized there were only a couple of chapters left and the problem wasn't being solved so it was rushed in the last chapter and meh. Ross and Kyle. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
