~ 5 Forever Love Stars ~
Absolutely Amazing!!!! Do you believe in Destiny? That your Heart is meant for only one person? How past events can affect future lives?
Well Predestined Hearts will make you a believer. This book is about 2 EPIC love stories. Told in both Present time and in Past time (year 1886) this book will draw you in and not let go until the end. This book will leave you with a book hangover. I know I can't stop thinking about these characters and their incredible journey. Kelly Elliott and Kristin Mayer were meant to write a book together!!! This book is beyond amazing!!!!
I could go on and on about this book, but truly this is a book you need to discover all by yourself. There are so many different feelings and emotions that come into play while reading this book. I laughed, smiled, yelled, hated, cried, swooned, but over all I felt the love throughout this whole book. Kelly and Kristin's writing styles meshed so well in this book. The time changes flowed effortlessly. I loved that even though this book was written by two separate authors, both are able to make you connect with all the characters and make you feel what they were feeling.
I have always been a HUGE fan of Kelly Elliott's books. She always creates stories that are those fairytale type, mushy love stories that I just die for!!! I have to say after reading this book I have become a fan of Kristin Mayer's as well and look forward to reading her books.
" Love knows no boundaries or time. Love is infinite and will always be. Love continues to exist regardless."
In this book we are introduced to 4 main characters…..Sophia, Daniel, Ashlin and Gael. All four of these characters were amazing. I truly loved each one of them. There wasn't a thing that annoyed me. Daniel and Gael are AMAZING Heroes. I truly couldn't decide which one I loved more. This book was so well written that I truly felt like I was on the same journey as Daniel and Sophia and Gael and Ashlin. I loved watching this story come full circle and that it showed us that LOVE does conquer all.
" Life moves on."
We also meet some other secondary characters…..some you will love and some you will absolutely hate. I have to say that Harris (Ashlin's Ex) is probably the most evil villain I have read in a book in a long time. I wanted to throat punch him so many times. Although I did LOVE how the authors wrapped up his storyline with Ashlin in the end ;)
If you are looking for an emotional and beautiful journey of love that spans over centuries and will leave you smiling in the end and also believing in destiny, then this is a book you NEED to read. I know this is a book I will read over and over again!!!! This is probably one of my favorites so far in 2015!!!!
I was absolutely blow away by this book. This is something different I have never read before. It’s a love story inside of a love story. Be prepared for an emotion ride that will leave you completely breathless and mind blown.
When the book starts Ashlin is with her boyfriend Harris. Let me just state how much I despised HARRIS. He literally made me sick!! Ashlin has had enough of Harris and decides to change her life she gets news her aunt has passed away. Her aunt is the one who raised Ashlin so her world is completely torn apart. Ashlin tells Harris she needs a break and decides to stay in town for a while. Ashlin discovers her great great great grandmother’s journal everything for Ashlin changes and her eyes open up in a way she never thought possible. Then Ashlin meets Gael and everything she hopes for is right in front of her.
I loved Gael. He was so very sweet right from the get go. This story turns even more when Gael decides to read the journal with Ashlin. I honestly think the journal helped Gael and Ashlin. Be ready for an emotional ride from inside the journal and in the lives of Gael and Ashlin. I honestly think I fell in love with Sophia and Danny while reading the journal. There were several times I teared up from the journey of love in both journal and within the characters in the story.
I cannot express how much I loved this book. It was something different and refreshing. Not only did Danny and Sophia experience the journey of love but so did Gael and Ashlin. Both couples went through the bad but sometimes you have to go through the bad to get the good. Don’t miss out on this amazing book!!!
I have a lot too say about this amazing book!!! ** No spoilers** First of all I loved the whole idea that the story took place now and in the 1800's. That time setting is one of my favorites. The way they dressed and talked was just beautiful. The other thing is that I am a firm believer in in destiny I think that was another reason this book rocked out. Kelly and Kristin this book was just beautiful
The story line is amazing....both great authors.... story of true love. Wasn't sure at first how I felt about the double story, but the more I read the more I enjoyed and looked forward to it...
This is a story about two different times, two different women and two different love stories but they are also intertwined in more ways than just through a journal.
“Why wasn’t I able to find the love we saw in fairy tales? Everyone I loved eventually left me.”
I had a huge love/hate relationship with this book. What I loved was the plot and story line; so beautiful, sad, heart-warming and heart-breaking but what I didn’t like was the fact that sometimes the writing seemed a bit young considering the tone of the book and there were too many occasions or insta-love/lust.
“I can’t let you go and I won’t. I want it all. Don’t ask me to give up anything. I’m keeping you, Ashlin. I won’t let anyone else have you. This isn’t a battle you’re going to win. We were meant to be together.”
Firstly the plot; like I said I loved the plot. It was so beautiful, I cried many times but I also felt uplifted and happy during many parts of the story. It’s such an interesting concept; Ashlin finding the journal and reading her great great great relatives love story but at the same time she herself is going through a passionate but not easy love story. I have to say I think Sophia and Daniel’s story was my favourite by quite a bit but I did love Ashlin and Gael’s as well. We had drama, passion, romance, heart ache; so much to keep you entertained. Neither story was a simple, straight forward love story; there were ex-boyfriend, bitter and mean mothers….but it is all worth it in the end because you truly feel both couple’s love for each other. However I did have a problem with the writing, sometimes it just didn’t seem mature enough considering the topics and I also hated the really really sudden insta-love; it took away the believability of each romance.
“My world had changed so much over the last few days. Now, I was completely alone. Part of me was devastated. Part of me was terrified. Part of me was liberated.”
I loved the main characters, both Sophia and Ashlin were strong, beautiful women who knew what they wanted and were not afraid of the consequences. They were honest and kind and women you could look up to. Daniel and Gael were both knight in shining armour boyfriends. They were passionate, caring, weren’t afraid to show how much they loved their partners and were both so strong when things started to go horribly wrong. They never gave up hope in either of their partners and believe their love would conquer all.
“Sophia Marie Stowe. You shall always remain the keeper of my heart and soul. Each night I close my eyes, I shall see your eyes. Each morning I wake, I will dream of your smile. You will forever be the love of my life.”
I found it really hard to rate this story, if it was purely on the plot I would give it 4.5 stars but due to the writing and minor plot elements that irritated me I’ve had to give this story a 3.5 but I would encourage all romance readers to give this a go because it really will have you weeping but also smiling over two beautiful love stories. Bethany
I knew this book was going to be different. I am a big fan of Kelly Elliott, so when I read this synopsis I knew I had to pick it up. I haven’t read anything from Kristin Mayer but now I definitely want to. This was book was definitely different, we got two stories for the price of one and we got two different romance genres. Once you opened up this book it immediately blows your mind. There was so much to like about this book I hope we get more.
Let’s talk about the heroines in this book. They are two completely different people, while having some of the more important parts the same. Sophia is years in the past. Ashlin is discovering her story page by page from a journal she found in her aunt’s house. Sophia is brave and willing to go after the things she wants. Sophia has a lot of pressure from her mother to marry someone rich and she decides that love is more important than what her family wants. Ashlin is the opposite she second guesses everything and doesn’t know if she can give everything for the love that she wants. Ashlin was actually someone that frustrated me. She was cheating Gael because she wouldn’t give everything to Gael. She kept flip flopping and it wasn’t something that I liked. She blames her past, which don’t get me wrong was messy and sad, but it really wasn’t something that I felt should have crippled her as much as it did in the beginning. She grew on me eventually but she wasn’t my favorite like Sophia was.
Gael and Danny. There is no way to choose which one is better than the other. They are both completely swoon worthy and sexy as hell. Danny was completely taken with Sophia from the minute that he saw her. He treated her like a princess from the very beginning. I was totally rooting for him the entire time and I loved getting lost in their stunning romance. Gael was a hot restaurant owner. He also saw Ashlin for the first time and knew there was something special with her. He took his time and went at a pace that would make sure he got the girl in the end. Both men knew what their women needed and did everything they could to make and keep them happy.
Other than what I have already wrote I really don’t want to give anymore away. This is definitely a story that you should go into knowing as little as possible. Knowing that Kelly Elliott and Kristin Mayer wrote it should be enough. This story is one that needs to be experienced for yourself without any previous judgements. All you need to know is this. The story was well written and completely emotional. The story is about love, loss, and learning how to move on and be happy. Every single page was another notch on the emotional rollercoaster that this story took me on. I was hooked from the very first chapter and it wouldn’t let me go until the last page was turned.
Ever had one of those days? Or lives? Nothing goes as planned. Even when you think you have a handle on it....BAM...The ACME box opens and you get blown up. Again. This book is THAT in novel form. Like a ACME novel ready to blow up in your hand, head, and heart.
For starters, this is double whammy book. You get two stories in one. The story of Ashlin and Gael. And the story of Sophia and Danny. Sophia and Danny are the ancestors of Ashlin and Gael. We get there story through jounals. Try to keep up. This gets complicated.
Ashlin is living with her boyfriend in New York and hating it. The boyfriend is a serious asshole. More than you can imagine. He makes Ashlin feel unworthy. She doesn't have the family or the money he has and he never lets her forget it. When the chance to break free presents itself she jumps.
When was the last time we laughed?
Gael is the sexy restaurant owner who wants to give Ashlin a reason to smile. When I say "sexy", I mean a Southern gentleman who can talk dirty and play rough. The best kind.
Ashlin is fresh off a bad relationship. Is this the best time to start something new?
Love doesn't work on a timeline.
The bond Ashlin and Gael feel is generations in the making. As they read the journals of Sophia and Danny, they learn that love is to be cherished. Time works against all lovers. Some more than others.
It's your life. Your story. Live it how you want to.
I could write a completely separate review of the historical portion of the book. Sophia and Danny are trapped by convention, families and the times. Ashlin and Gael are inspired by the perserverence of their ancestors.
My perfect moment just got better.
I loved the dual stories. I would be completely into one story and then the timeline would flip and I would remember how much I loved the other storyline. Both couples are slapped around by fate, by chance and by Ms Elliott and Ms Mayer. Just when you think that you have story figured out, they find a way to throw you over a cliff. Right over a cliff. BAM.
There are many, many BAMS here. Total jerks, bad guys who turn out to not be, tree carving, discovered artifacts, family recipes, family secrets, and more twists and turns than ACME could ever imagine.
This book is set in two different points in time, now and the 1800's. I won't lie - this concept made me a little nervous at first because I'm not really a big historical fan but Kelly and Kristin totally nailed this book!!!
In the present time you have Ashlin Thomas, Harris, Gael Stowe. In the 1800's you have Sophia, Daniel Stowe, Devlin Covington, and Colett. This is a tale of two absolutely amazing stories of how love can conquer all.
"We are all broken. It's a matter of learning how to deal with the cracks we have."
Ashlin has been abandoned her entire life. As a child, her mother died tragically in an accident and then her father killed himself. As an adult, her Aunt Leelyn died suddenly. Ashlin had been with Harris for years and over those years, he changed, and their relationship changed. Harris wanted power and money. Ashlin longed for the fairy tale type love. The over the moon, past the stars, out of this world kind of love.
While going through her aunt's things, Ashlin comes across the journal of her great-great-great grandmother. It is in this journal that we learn the love story of Daniel and Sophia. We learn that Sophia's mother is much like Harris and wants to marry her daughter off for money and status, not love. When Sophia and Daniel meet it is the type of connection Ashlin has always dreamed of.
"Life without love is no life. To chance your life on love is everything."
We meet Gael Stowe in a restaurant in Savannah. The connection between Gael and Ashlin is immediate and undeniable. The pair continue the journey of their ancestors together not knowing where this will lead them. There are mysteries in the ancestry that can only be revealed by continuing to read the journal.
Will Sophia's mother succeed in pushing her daughter toward a marriage of status and power rather than love and happiness? Will Ashlin remain in a loveless relationship for the ease of it or will she conquer the challenges given and find true love?
This was an amazing read! As I said earlier, the concept made me nervous but I was hooked immediately. Kelly Elliott and Kristin Mayer are brilliant writers and this book is a must read for anyone!
I absolutely love everything that Kelly and Kristin write. I was so excited when they announced that they were co-writing a book. I had never read a historical romance before so I was excited when I found out they were writing a dual genre book. This book is really two stories in one and Kelly and Kristin did an amazing job. It rotates between the past which is Daniel and Sophia's story and the present which is Ashlin and Gael's story.
Ashlin is stuck in a very unhappy relationship so when she gets some devastating news about her aunt she heads back to Savannah and uses this opportunity to end things with her boyfriend. While in Savannah she meets Gael, an amazing cook at one of the local restaurants. She isn't sure she is ready to dive in to a new relationship but she enjoys spending time with Gael. As she is cleaning out her aunt's house she also comes across a journal written by her ancestors. Ashlin and Gael read through the journals together and the story that unfolds within is absolutely beautiful. Is it possible that these two were destined to be together forever long before they ever met? Will their love for one another be enough to keep them together when life thows a few curve balls at them?
" Love knows no boundaries or time. Love is infinite and will always be. Love continues to exist regardless."
I really don't want to give too much about the storyline away as I definitely think this book is something you need to experience for yourself. This is a story about love, loss, and learning to move on. It took me on quite the emotional rollercoaster and I loved every second of it. I was hooked from the very first chapter and was sad when the story ended but was very happy with the outcome.
I've not read a historical romance in quite a while so was slightly nervous as to how Predestined Hearts would read. I've never read a duel genre book either but was intrigued as to how the contemporary and historical aspects would meld together. The result? A beautiful and amazing love story, leaving me with a lasting impression.
Ashlin Thomas and Gael Stowe are our hero and heroine from the contemporary storyline and their story is told from alternating POV. Ashlin is in Savannah for her beloved aunt Leelyn's funeral and the pair meet up when she has a meal at Gael's restaurant. As the pair get to know one another they discover that they have a common link. The connection is uncovered after Ashlin begins reading an old journal she's discovered that belongs to her great-great-great grandmother Sophia. Sophia and Daniel are our historical couple, although there is far more to their story than we originally lead to believe, adding both sadness and intrigue.
I really don't want to spoil the enjoyment of this unique book by revealing more details about what happens. Both the nineteenth century and contemporary plots weave together seamlessly making the story flow effortlessly, creating a refreshing and heart-warming page turner. Each genre will have you crying tears for joy and sorrow, with heavy doses of angst, love and steamy scenes. Both nicely tied together with hope and everlasting love.
Both authors have done a fabulous job crafting something very special, exciting but more importantly memorable.
4½ Stars

It's all worth in the End. PREDESTINED HEARTS is Amazing
This is a wonderful book. It has a twist where we are taken back to the 1800;s throughout the journal of Sophia. Her journal is part of history where you piece your ancestors, but the journey you find is of True Love and how Love and Loss are at war, but in this Journey that Ashlin the Great, great great granddaughter of Sophia, Ashlin fines her one true love. Ashlin thought she was in love with Harris until money and power came into play. She is ready to move on but her last living relative passes and she finds in her loss she is kind of reborn too because the journal she left for her is her link to the past. Gael lived in Savannah, Ga. His whole life and he just so happens to be the Great, Great, Great Grandson of Daniel, when these two meet they have no idea just how Predestined their lives where meant to be. They take a journey with the journal of Sophia together and in the process find that their ancestors started a life that Intertwine them to find in each other their One True Love, it is all connected with the Past and the Present. Is it an easy road to go down no way. For Sophia and her love Daniel obstacles are there, for Ashlin and Gael, Ashlin's Ex puts himself in the path of their happiness. Can Gael's love be enough to help Ashlin out of the Dark hole that Harris put her in. Find out when you 1-click this book. I have Never Ever been disappointed in a book by Kelly Elliott and Kristin Mayer was amazing too. Totally recommend this book.
ok I Decide to edit this, this is not a historical romance. So please don't over look this fantastic story. I enjoyed reading this book; it was interesting how they created a link between the past and present using the journal. I must admit though that what I liked best was the fact I felt I had two stories emerging in one great book.
I absolutely loved this book, and being a bonus it being written by both Kelly Elliott and Kristin Mayer. In it, they tells the of the stories of a present day web designer Ashlin, who's troubled childhood and uncaring boyfriend leads her to make some difficult decisions.
Also through the journal she finds at her Aunts historic home, a beautiful story of love, lust and at times heart break of her great great great grandmother Sophia dating 1886. These two stories are both moving and shows Ashlin how her life may well be predestined.
5 stars and even though you can see the two writers styles, this is a fresh and exciting book.

5 ++++ Stars Oh my goodness, there are just not enough stars to express how much I love this book!
I am not a fan of historical romance but this dual genre was AMAZING! Not only do you get a love story, you get two great love stories plus so much more!
There is love, happiness, angst, sorrow, heart breaking (have tissues), and oh so much steam!! This book has every possible thing you could ever want from a romance! I was sucked in from the beginning and could not stop.
Daniel and Sophia are so wonderfully tied in with Gael and Ashlin. I do not want to give away one single second of this book, you must read it!
Kelly and Kristin created a wonderful journey for us and it should not be missed! You will go on an emotional rollercoaster complete with gasping, panting, crying, and warm fuzzies! Grab your blanket, grab you fave hot beverage, grab this book and ENJOY!
This is a deep rooted emotional journey of true love that spans generations. A story of fate, destiny, magic and sorrow that will leave you with an indescribable connection to both the past and present while still allowing your heart to be content in knowing everything happens for a reason. I generally do not read historical romance BUT Kelly Elliott and Kristin Mayer are two of my favorite authors. This is a duel genre read and while one part is historical it is done in a way that was very easy for me to totally get wrapped up in. The modern tale was fresh all consuming and I fell in love with all characters. Honestly I really didn't want it to end. Now, what are you waiting for? #MustRead #OneClickNOW

Kelly Elliott and Kristin Mayer joined forces and created a masterpiece by merging historical with contemporary romance. This story took place in the 1800’s when everything was so eloquent and beautiful. The attire, the way that women and men communicated, and held such respect, its what I love about that time period. The idea, and the execution of said idea, was done with fantastic writing, characters with depth, and elegance. Kristin and Kelly teaming up for this novel was a fantastic idea!! Predestined Hearts is a story you won’t want to miss
5 stars. I absolutely loved reading Predestined Hearts and getting to meet and fall in love with Gael, Ashlin, Daniel and Sophia. This story was is filled with so much love and I was happy to be able to take the journey with these amazing couples. This is a must have buy it you won't be disappointed. Thank you to Kelly and Kristin for a beautiful and very moving story.
Provided an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'm not a fan of historical romance, but this book is unlike any other I have ever read. The storyline sucked me in right from the start. The past and present are intertwined perfectly. I don't know who I love more Daniel or Gael. This duel genre has everything, angst, sexiness, love and grab a tissue, you'll need it. This is one book you MUST read!
Oh dear Lord, I loved loved this book so much, with the two stories going on it was so fun to read. It was so hard for me not to just skip ahead and read Sophia's and Danny's story so I could find out what happened. I cried so much for them. Ashlin and Gael are just two of my favorite characters now. I loved how they read to each other and both of them felt the connection to Sophia and Danny. it was just the sweetest romance story I think I've read. Wonderfully done ladies.
Loved, loved this story. Your writing brought me right there with Ashlin and Gael as their love grew for each other. The story of Sophia,s love for Danny would not let me put this book, I even had a place in my heart for Devlin. I enjoyed the journals of Sophia and Danny were heartwarming in the end I even had tears coming. To me if you can provoke these feelings you have done an excellent job at storytelling.
What a journey this story takes you on. A story about 2 couples from 2 different times who fell in love. I couldn't put this down I wanted to know what was happening next and laughed and held my breath and cried through this book loving every minute. I'm left feeling happy and sad all at the same time. Loved it.
So incredibly beautiful! The enter twine of past and present is such a wonderful twist on a romance. There are ugly cry moments, but oh that ending! The ending makes the whole book! It's a wonderful complete HEA! I have that satisfied euphoria! So GOOD!
Predestined Hearts blew me away. I didn't know Kelly Elliot could write something so different yet so alike to what I am used to with her books. Of course now I am going to go purchase all of Kristen Mayer's books too because Ms. Elliot wasn't alone on this one. This book contained everything I needed it to have. I am amazed at how quickly I read and fell in love with not only Gale and Ashlin's story but also with Daniel, Sophia, Devlin, and Colett.
Let me tell you a little bit about this book; so a tragic thing happens in Ashlin's life so she goes to Savannah and breaks up with her horrible boyfriend who doesn't want to let her go. That is where she meets Gale and the real story begins. The most incredible thing about this book is that it not only does it include the present but it also has bits and pieces of the past that are shared to us through a journal.
This journal is a piece of history and an emotional love story that soon leads to Gale and Ashlin's love. Throughout the book little glimpses are shown of Daniel and Sophia's love story (past/journal entries). It shows all the passion, the heartache, and the loss that they experienced in their lives. Having these glimpses was my favorite part of the book. These are scattered throughout the book and while I was waiting, very impatiently might I add, we see the love developing between Gale and Ashlin. I loved watching their love unfold along with Sophia and Daniel.
Why do I love Gale?
Reason 1: He is an amazing cook. He literally made my mouth water every time I heard what he was gonna make. I mean he cooks for Ashlin! That is beyond amazing. (Note to self: find a chef to marry)
Reason 2: He is such a gentleman, so sweet, and kind. The way he treats Ashlin makes me swoon. He finally made her feel like she was enough.
Reason 3: Gale knows when something is wrong and he is patient with Ashlin. He waits for her and he doesn't push or rush her.
Reason 4: He reads to Ashlin from the journal. Reads! I love that!
Reason 5: When things got hard he stood by Ashlin even when he was the one who was being affected. That right there is what makes a relationship.
Why I hate Harris?
There is really not much I can say because I want you to fully experience him yourself. Experience all the hate and cruelty one man releases just because it is convenient for him. He is just one of the worst ex-boyfriends ever. The amount of hate that I feel for him will soon be revealed to you as soon as you read this book.
The ending was amazing for me and I am glad the authors decided to go with it. It was sad but I liked that it led to the happiness of a later generation. As for Gale and Ashlin, I loved how they started their life together. It was nice to see that Ashlin made that promise in the beginning of the book and she went through with it. I really recommend this book because it has history. It showed a lot of family history and their story. I loved to get lost in that part of the book. I felt a true connection to those in the past just like Ashlin did. I am glad I got to experience that. I feel truly honored to have received this ARC.
I can only say that I can only read this once. As much as this a beautiful story, it is a freaking gut wrenching one as well.
This was actually an enjoyable read despite the bittersweet moments. I admit when I questioned the family tree that Ashlin researched I skipped to the ending and I was shocked and most especially saddened by her great great great grandparents' story.
Predestined Heart is captivating and tells a dual story of Ashlin's love story and Sophia's story. Sophia's story is written in a journal that is read by Ashlin. I can't say whose story I loved more because they were both good in their own way despite that bittersweet one. I totally can't get over that part.
Ashlin is in a long time relationship with her boyfriend but it doesn't last long because of the sudden change in her boyfriend and Ashlin realized that she doesn't love him anymore. An opportunity came to Ashlin for her to break up with her boyfriend and move on (though even that incident happened she still tried last minute to give her boyfriend a chance but he screwed that up). There she finds the journal of Sophia and meets Gael. Handsome and sweet Gael.
Let's just say their first meeting made an impact to one another. And they bonded more especially by reading Sophia and Daniel's story. Ashlin believes that love conquers all or is it? Especially when she reads the end of Sophia's journal and her ex wrecking havoc on her life and those around her.
Reading this book, I find that fate has a funny way of letting those couples meet. I won't spoil their stories but you defintely have to read this. Although this is not good for my heart. I cried till the ending. I feel like crying just remembering it. I want to say something more but I will just spoil it. All I can is that love conquers all despite how one story ended. Predestined Hearts is a very touching story and I agree with Ashlin's sentiments that their love story was a double edge sword. For Ashlin and Gael to be born and meet (and fall in love), that had to happen.
I also liked the other characters in both the past and the present. I hate Harris but if not for his change, it probably would have been too late for Gael and Ashlin. I also disliked Sophia's mother. She is such a hypocrite.
I loved how both Gael and Daniel were protective of their counterparts. They certainly know how to romance them and the other scenes were hot but there were also some sweet moments.
There should have been a warning of a tragedy or something despite how it turned out in the end. I practically had to devour a lot of true HEAs (meaning no bittersweet to it) just to get over even a little bit of this book.
A sweeping epic that was beautifully written by 2 of my favorite authors!
Predestined Hearts has it all - a consuming current day love story tied to a post-Civil War love story both taking place in Savannah, GA. When I first heard about the book from the authors, I wasn't sure how they were going to tie the past in with the present. Well let me tell you, not only did they do it, they did it masterfully and beautifully! There's Lust, Melodrama, Passion and even some Crinoline....both between Ashlin and Gael and Sophia and Daniel (Danny)... my heart just melted the entire time I was reading this book.
The attitudes which are featured in this book, specifically in relation to Sophia and Danny are extremely well written and entirely accurate down to the societal views on how important marrying for money and social status was during this era in our history. The thing I loved best about Sophia is she's a character that was selfishly motivated and bucked the system to follow her heart. I found myself admiring her strength, intelligence and endurance during a time when ladies in her class weren't necessarily raised with those qualities.
The immediate connection that Ashlin felt for Gael had me swooning from their first meeting. I swear there was sparks flying off the pages. The way they moved through their relationship was both exciting and heartbreaking at times. There's fear that it can't be real and sadness that others want to bring an end to the love they've found.
The clever thing is how the authors brought everything together pretty darn brilliantly! As I sat on the train daily reading this all encompassing book, with such hot love scenes along with the fact that there were times I was laughing out loud at how Gael was incensed at Ashlin eating Lean Cuisine dinners from the microwave (trust me when you read the book, you'll completely understand) and then I would be so angry at the authors for what I was reading because I couldn't believe they would make the characters suffer like they did. But in the end, if they hadn't written it the way they did, there would be no all-encompassing love between Gael and Ashlin.
What it comes down to, is I couldn't put it down. I am going to miss the people I will have to put behind me now that the book has come to an end. This is a wonderful story, and I loved the historical aspect of it. It's simply just a great read.

Predestined Hearts was a contemporary love story with a twist of historical. I am not always a fan of historical romance but the way this was written I didn't mind it at all. I would give this book a 4 stars and definitely recommend to others. I fell in love with all the characters in this book except for one certain character and you will all soon find out who that is when you read this book. The title of this book perfectly describes this book. This story will go from the now and the past and some books can be confusing with this but this one did it so perfectly. This was a pretty intense love story and will keep you flipping pages until you finally get the ending.. and just when things start to settle there will be a twist and a little tragedy.
Ashlin has been with her boyfriend Harrison for years but finds herself wanting more from there relationship. She knows Harrison has changed because of his new job and money so she is ready to lead a different path and when tragedy strikes it makes it all the more clear that what they had may finally come to an end. While she deals with her tragedy it puts her apart from her life from Harrison and brings her to meeting Gael. She will also discover a life she never knew existed and will indulge in the life of past relatives. What she gets out of the story will change her life forever.
Gael is a small town business owner and a chef and everyone knows and loves him.. but when it comes to his love life it has been at a standstill for a long time. When he comes face to face with a woman that will take his breath away he finds himself pulled to her in a way he has never been with a woman.... so when they start to talk and get to know each other they find that they have more in common than they ever realized and there past relatives may have started that for them.
When a romance begins they will feel like there lives are entwined in more ways than one not because of the present but because of the past they are learning to know together. When another twist and small tragedy strikes will there worlds be torn apart or will there predestined hearts find there way back?
