I’ve just finished a naval historical fiction novel that I’ve recently helped bring back into Kindle format — Royal Yankee — and genuinely enjoyed it.
It’s set during the War of Jenkins’ Ear and follows a Royal Navy lieutenant who’s American-born, which gives it a slightly different angle to the usual naval fiction. Some great set pieces around Porto Bello and the Caribbean campaigns.
A story equal to the greatest writers of maritime fiction: Forester, Kent, Pope, O'Brian, Hardy, et al. It has a good plot, good characters, good dialogue, and plenty of action. There were almost no typos or other errors so common in Kindle books. Looking forward to the next in the series.
