I ride bulls for a living—chasing buckles, eight seconds at a time. It’s the only thing I’ve ever been good at. Tough. Disciplined. Built for the dirt and the danger. When I’m not on the road, I’m back home in Wildhaven, Wyoming, putting in work at the Raintree-Storm Rodeo Academy — training the next generation on my family’s land.
It’s a simple life. The way I like it.
Then Jovie Asbury walks into the arena and wrecks everything.
She’s not the kid I remember—the sweet, quiet girl who used to trail after my little brother, Cabe, with hearts in her eyes. No, she’s grown into something else entirely. Smart. Driven. Off-limits in every way that matters. She’s interning at the academy, working toward a career in sports medicine, determined to earn her place on the rodeo circuit.
And I can’t stop watching her or thinking about her. Can’t stop wanting her.
And that’s a big problem.
Because Cabe never stopped loving her.
And some lines, no matter how bad you want to cross them… you don’t.
Except the longer she’s here, the harder it gets to stay on my side of that line.
And I’m starting to realize that eight seconds on the back of a bull is nothing compared to trying to hold on to my self-control around Jovie Asbury.

4⭐️ 2🌶️ 🔥Cowboy/Rodeo 🔥Age Gap 🔥Brother’s Ex 🔥Grumpy/Sunshine 🔥Workplace 🔥Small Town 🔥Dual First Person POV
Axel Trust is a professional bull rider taking a break for the summer to return home and teach at the rodeo academy on his family’s ranch. Jovie Asbury is completing another clinical working with the doctor at the rodeo academy before her final year. She has plans to be the physical therapist on the PBR rodeo circuit. Axel is the quintisential bull rider with a standoffish attitude and all the confidence. He’s quiet, reserved, and grumpy with rough edges. Jovie is smart, sassy, and hard working. Because of Axel’s quiet grumpiness she thinks he hates her, especially with how he avoided her. He was doing everything he could to ignore her and his growing attraction since she’s his youngest brother’s ex and childhood friend. When it comes to sports medicine, Jovie is is a boss who is confident in her abilities with a take charge attitude. There was a slow start before I was fully invested in the story and characters. The beginnning was bogged down with too much unecessary details and over explaination of things. But that slow start turned into so much mutual yearning. The stolen moments built up the tension and allowed for their friendship to build. The unraveling came on slowly during late night talks and while binge watching crime documentaries and eating queso in their pillow fort. All the accidental touches, lingering looks, and close proximity proved to be too much for both of them. There was so much fun and flirty banter. They never intended for this to happen but life had other plans. I loved the easy camaraderie between Axel, his brothers and cousins. The large family dynamic with nosy cousins and a meddling grandmother made for some fun and giggle worthy moments. The Wyoming ranch setting and big family made this feel so sweet and cozy. The fact that Jovie is his brother’s ex added just enough tension and risk without losing that cozy feeling.

“What do you want?” “Your mouth,” “Where do you want it?” “Everywhere.”
“F_ € k, you taste like candy,” he whispers against me. Then his eyes come up to meet mine. “Never tasted anything close to this sweet.”
“You know something? You’re sexy when you get all doctor bossy.”
“You’d better go before I drag you into the barn, Doc.” “That’s not the threat you think it is, cowboy.”
“When this started, I told myself we were just having fun. That it didn’t mean anything, so there was no harm. But I was lying to myself. ”
“I want to be the man to build you that damn white picket fence someday.”
When I read the premise of this book, I was so excited to pick it up. Rodeo cowboys and brother's ex? Sounded like a good time to me.
Unfortunately this ended up being a mixed bag for me.
I liked how Kelly set up the world. The Raintree Storm Rodeo Academy and Wildhaven ranch were great settings. I liked how detailed the rodeo world was and that we got an inside look into it. I also loved the community. The families are close knit and you can truly feel the love everyone has for each other. This was definitely a place I would want to visit.
The romance was simply okay for me. I liked Jovie and Axle but I didn't love them. It was cute that they had queso & true crime marathons and that they were both insomniacs. The tension was strong with these two. The teasing Axle did was so naughty lol. The steamy scenes were great. Their chemistry was really hot. However, I think I would have preferred their first time not being when Jovie was drunk (perhaps this a personal preference). Besides that moment, this couple was cute.
I think the issue for me was that I felt the rodeo plot overshadowed the romance. I wanted more of Jovie and Axle than I got. I also wanted the conflict to be a bigger deal. I mean we are dealing with a brother's ex that he still had feelings for. I was expecting more drama.
Overall, I enjoyed this and would give another book in this series a try. I just wanted more romance.
Broken Trust is absolutely dripping with chemistry and tension, So. Much. Tension!
From the very first interaction, the attraction between Axle and Jovie is impossible to ignore. The stolen glances, lingering smiles, late-night insomnia induced conversations, questionable TV marathons, and blanket forts had me completely invested. Their quiet moments were some of my favorites, especially the nights when they could finally find peace simply by being in each other's arms. Two insomniacs who can only sleep when they're together? My heart absolutely melted. Those scenes felt intimate, comforting, and incredibly romantic. Their connection felt effortless, and it was often these quiet moments that spoke the loudest.
Axle's internal struggle added so much depth to the story. He's immediately drawn to Jovie, but constantly reminds himself that she's Cabe's. Even as he tries to create distance, he can't resist being around her, and seeing her smile becomes one of his greatest joys. Jovie is just as captivated by him, and watching her pursue what her heart truly wanted while Axle fought his feelings created so much delicious tension.
The most compelling part of the story is the complicated relationship between Jovie, Axle, and Cabe. Cabe has been Jovie's person since they were kids. They're best friends who tell each other everything, and the love they have for one another is undeniable. But I appreciated how Amber Kelly explored the idea that love isn't always meant to stay the same. As Jovie grows, she realizes that the love she has for Cabe has evolved into something rooted in friendship, while the dreams she shares with Axle point her toward the future she's always wanted.
Themes of growth and change are woven throughout this story. As Axle learns to adapt and embrace the life he wants, his journey mirrors the story's message that people and relationships aren't meant to stay the same forever.
Broken Trust is packed with crackling chemistry, emotional vulnerability, tension filled internal conflict and beautifully quiet moments that remind us that love can grow in the most unexpected places.
Well Amber just really knew how to start this new series off with a bang. I was a little unsure of how I would feel with this storyline. With Jovie having a relationship with Axle's little brother Cabe, a long time ago. Even though their relationship was more of a young love sort of thing, they were still in a relationship. I usually don't care for that, and it usually doesn't end well for someone. But the pull between Jovie and Axle was extremely strong, and this story was very well written.
Jovie is working towards her career in sports medicine and for the summer she is going to be assisting the doctor at the Raintree-Storm Rodeo Academy. She is determined to find her place in the rodeo circuit, and this is the best place to start. She has known the Trust boys for a very long time and even though she had something with Cabe for a while, she truly just sees him as a friend. She wasn't expecting to be staying right next door to his older brother Axle, nor was she expecting to start to see him in a different light.
When Axle laid eyes on Jovie for the first time in a long time, he was definitely surprised to see how much she had grown up. She was more woman now than little girl that used to follow them around. But he has to keep in mind that his little brother has a thing for her and believes that they belong together. But when late night chats turn into late night binge tv watching turn into so much more, Axle isn't sure what to do about these feelings he is starting to have. He just knows that Jovie is starting to feel more like forever than just a summer fling.
I really loved Jovie and Axle together. I knew it was going to hurt Cabe when it all came crashing down but I really loved how it was all handled. I know Amber will find Cabe the perfect girl soon and he will find his HEA just like Axle and Jovie did.
This is the first book to the Wildhaven Cowboys Series and what a book it is.
I absolutely DEVOURED Broken Trust.
I started it this morning and I swear all I’ve done all day is breathed, think and lived for Broken Trust. It was extremely hard for me to put it down and when I did, I was eager to get back to it as soon as possible.
Axle is drool worthy. He’s quiet, observant and at times playful. He has been so fun to read about. I feel like there’s so many layers to him and I could just read about him and Jovie for the rest of my life.
Jovie is sweet, determined and bossy when she wants to be. She’s so relatable and just has that personality that you can’t help but love.
I absolutely loved these two. They have so much chemistry, banter and just understand each other at their core.
Amber Kelly has outdone herself with this one. She’s written characters that’s are layered and develop naturally throughout the book. She’s given us chemistry that’s palpable, banter that keeps you entertained and a plot that delivers.
Honestly, this book is going to be really hard to top. But I can’t wait to see how the next one goes.
I freaking loved this one so much!
Side note: I also love the crime shows and Axle seeing the world through Jovie’s eye from it. Realising how dangerous it is to be a woman and all the things that we think and do to protect ourselves as much as possible each time we leave the house. I thought that was brilliant.
Massive thank you to Miss Kelly and Wordsmith Publicity for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first in a new series, and this is Axel and Jovie’s story. Axel rides bulls for a living, and when he is not on the road, he is back at Raintree-Storm Rodeo Academy training the next generation on his family’s ranch. Jovie is interning at the academy while working towards a career in sports medicine. Axel and Jovie have knows each other for a long time, and he classes her as off limits as she is his brother’s ex, but the more time they are together feelings change. This is a well written easy to read, slow burn story, with family, friendships, emotions, tension, grumpy / sunshine, opposites attract, tad angst, forced proximity, workplace romance, an age gap, determination, humour, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, small-town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Another great Wildhaven Cowboys story. The family of these cowboys and their families and friends, the rodeo schools they have established is phenomenal. Now back from their rodeo circuit and helping with the school, meeting the new PT trainee, who grew up with them all but was smitten by the younger brother, yet feelings are stirring between another brother. The new exciting and unexpected feelings between JoJo and Axel are not only unexpected, he is trying to keep his distance. But the true saying is, the heart wants what it wants. Unfortunately not without hurt feelings, anger, and Pain when fists fly. Amazing story, loved it.
To say I'm slightly obsessed with Amber Kelly's type of romance is putting it mildly. Because I devoured Broken Trust for day and a half. Because work and sleep got in the way of reading. And I loved Jovie and Axle. Also the Wildhaven Cowboys series is in the same universe as the Wildhaven Ranch series so prepare yourself for updates on all the Storm sisters and their significant others and the big Storm family. And with this series we're getting the Trust cousins stories and you're going to love it. And what's not to love about a bull rider. Because Axle got it all - the attitude and the confidence, the grumpiness and the rough edges. And he's the silent observing type of guy. Jovie is his younger brother's ex girlfriend. She's smart and sassy, hardworking and strong. She went to college and now she's back for an internship in PT. Jovie and Cabe, her ex are now friends but everyone expects of them to be a couple again. And if Cabe is expecting this to happen Jovie had no such intentions. She values her friendship with Cabe and that's enough for her. Also she and Cabe both changed and she saw it and that's why she wasn't eager to continue something with him. Cabe just wasn't aware of those chances and wanted the comfort of their relationship. They just grew out of their relationship and he didn't see it. Jovie working in the clinic and being neighbours with Axle gave her a glimpse into the life and career she wanted to pursue. Them being friends and getting to know eachother just was an added bonus. I loved their night talks and watching true crime shows. Both of them were attracted to each other and the tension between them was palpable and the angst was sky high. Because she's his brother's ex. And those two were perfect together. Both of them needed to talk with Cabe and delayed to do it. So when Cabe found out about their relationship he was hurt and disappointed. It wasn't ideal for him to find out that way but it was the wake up call he needed to realize the change in him and Jovie and their relationship. Cabe and Jovie managed to save their friendship. Axle and Cabe's relationship is a work in progress because even though Axle explained and apologized Cabe's ego is hurt. That epilogue was everything that I expected for Jovie and Axle. Not only because they were together but their plans and dreams aligned. If you have to read one cowboy small town romance this summer let it be Broken Trust by Amber Kelly.
Thanks to the author and Wordsmith Publicity for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.
🚨 SPOILER ALERT: READ AT YOUR OWN RISK! I am giving Broken Trust by Amber Kelly a wonderful 4-star review! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This cowboy romance brings all the high-stakes rodeo energy and small-town friction straight to your Kindle screen! The Review Broken Trust delivers a thoroughly engaging, fast-paced contemporary western romance that leans into the tight-knit, high-adrenaline world of professional rodeo. Amber Kelly does a fantastic job building a story around the unique physical demands and high stakes of a PBR circuit, making the character dynamics feel deeply integrated into their environment. The narrative utilizes a strong foundation of forbidden tension and past family ties to keep the emotional stakes high. It is an incredibly fun, comforting, and banter-filled western romance that handles its layered tropes with excellent precision. The Good This cowboy romance seriously has it all! Axle is a rugged PBR bull rider and Jovie is about to be a physical therapist for rodeos, which sets up such a fun, unique professional dynamic between them. The tropes are exceptionally well-executed across the board. The grumpy-sunshine contrast is incredibly fun, and when you pair that with forced proximity, a slight age gap, and the forbidden element of her being his little brother’s ex-girlfriend... yeah, you literally have the perfect recipe for non-stop entertainment. Beyond the excellent trope setup, the chemistry and banter between Axle and Jovie is absolutely fantastic. They jump off the page together, keeping you fully hooked on their connection from the very start. The Not So Good The only thing that held this back from a full 5-star rating for me was that the lingering "little brother's ex" drama occasionally felt a bit dragged out. Because the chemistry between the main characters is so immediate and undeniable, the repetitive hesitation regarding past family history felt like it slightly stalled their progression right when the plot wanted to take off
You had me at cowboy! 🤠 But seriously, I love a good cowboy romance, and the fact that this is an Amber Kelly cowboy romance? Uhm…yes, please!
I have loved the Wildhaven Ranch series from the very beginning, and each book has been better than the last. We’ve seen mentions of Axle throughout the series, but now we finally get to discover who he really is and what he’s made of.
This story follows Axle, a bull rider, and Jovie, the new physical therapist at the training camp. From the moment Axle lays eyes on Jovie, he can’t seem to keep his eyes—or his thoughts—off of her. There’s just one tiny problem: Jovie is his little brother Gabe’s best friend, and everyone expects Gabe and Jovie to end up together. Talk about awkward!
You guys, this book had me completely hooked. It was so incredibly good that I was flying through the pages without even realizing it until I reached the last one. I never wanted it to end.
This is a well-written, easy-to-read slow-burn romance that has a little bit of everything. Filled with family, strong friendships, heartfelt emotions, tension, grumpy/sunshine vibes, opposites attract, a touch of angst, forced proximity, a workplace romance, and an age-gap relationship, it kept me invested from beginning to end. The determination, humor, witty banter, undeniable chemistry, and swoon-worthy romance all come together to create a thoroughly entertaining and charming small-town love story.
I loved every single second of this book and highly recommend that you grab a copy. If you’re a fan of cowboy romances with unforgettable characters, incredible chemistry, and all the feels, this is definitely one you don’t want to miss!
Holy fuck, Amber Kelly has done it again! I swear this series and every single spin off just keeps getting better and I don’t want it to end.
Axel and Jovie completely owned my heart. I was hooked from the first chapter and could not put this book down. The tension between these two was absolutely unreal. Axel trying so hard to fight what he was feeling because of Cabe, while Jovie was out there proving she was so much more than the little girl everyone remembered… I was obsessed.
Jovie was such an incredible heroine. She was smart, determined, hardworking, and never expected anything to be handed to her. I loved watching her chase her dream in the rodeo world and hold her own. She was the perfect match for Axel.
And Axel… whew. Give me a protective, bull-riding cowboy with a heart of gold any day. Underneath all that tough exterior was a man who loved fiercely and carried the weight of everyone else’s feelings on his shoulders. Watching him finally stop denying himself what he wanted had me cheering the whole way through.
The chemistry was off the charts. Every look, every touch, every stolen moment had me kicking my feet. The emotion, the angst, the longing… it was all done so perfectly. And the rodeo setting just made me love it even more.
I have genuinely loved every single book in this series and the spin off, and Broken Trust is right up there as one of my favourites. The Raintree-Storm family feels like coming home every time I pick up one of these books.
If you love cowboy romance, forbidden feelings, slow-burning tension, found family, and characters you’ll never want to say goodbye to, this one is an absolute must-read. Another easy five stars from me!
*I was provided an ARC of this book by the author and their promotion team
I am so happy to be back at Wildhaven Storm Ranch for more shenanigans from this family! Axel and Jovie might just be my new fav Amber Kelly couple! I could not put them down!!
Axle Trust has one goal--to be a PBR World Champion. With the current reigning champ retiring at the end of the next season, it's right in his grasp. Until the next season starts in a couple short months, he's back on his family's ranch, teaching the next generation of rodeo athletes. What he never expected was the new light he's seeing Jovie Asbury in. It's been years since they've cross paths, but back then, she was his little brother's best friend and first love. This new attraction to Jovie was instant. For the summer, she'll be interning as a physical therapist for the athletes, and with their cabins being next door to each other, she's impossible to avoid. When they discover they're both insomniacs, a friendship over late night chats quickly blooms. As the nights pass, its clear chemistry and attraction is mutual. Although Cabe and Jovie haven't had a romantic relationship in almost a decade, both Axle and Jovie know the consequences of giving in could be detrimental. However, they also know the once in a lifetime love they're headed towards is worth the risk...
From the moment these to meet again, I just sensed that they'd be the perfect compliment for each other, and I was sucked into every page of their story! Their banter was so much fun, and Jovie was the perfect amount of spunk and sunshine to Axle's grumpy disposition. I also really love the way Amber handled the family drama, especially after the discovery of their relationship. It was dealt with so maturely, and really emphasized the importance of brotherhood within this family which was very heartwarming! Overall, this is a phenomenal start to this new series and I cannot wait to see what else Amber has in store for us on the ranch!!
I’m in my cowboy era and I am all for the Wildhaven cowboys. I don’t know how to put into words how much I enjoy picking up an Amber Kelly book but I’ll try. She has a way of weaving a beautiful love story with characters that have emotion and heart while giving you a story of family. Her stories may revolve around the couple and their connection and romance but it all goes back to family.
If you’ve read Amber then you know the Trust family. And if this is your first book of Amber’s then you can still follow along and start to love this big ole family. Axle is the cousin of all those Storm women who got their happily ever afters. He’s a bull rider who is fearless and is looking for the next adventure. Jovie is his brother’s first love and best friend.
These two tried their hardest to fight the attraction but their connection is palpable and love has a funny way of showing its hand. I loved the way the were friends first growing and building that love. When they finally come together it’s like fireworks on a clear night.
There is a little drama but not so much that it takes away from the story. There’s no third act breakup either. Amber has a way of pulling you into her stories and making you love her characters. I can’t wait for more from Wildhaven and these sexy cowboys.
Broken Trust was such a fun, sweet, and heartfelt cowboy romance! I didn't want to put it down.
Axel is a professional bull rider who's grumpy, protective, and completely devoted to his family. Jovie is a sports medicine intern who's strong, hardworking, and sassy. The fact that she's Axel's younger brother's ex definitely adds some forbidden tension, and it had me invested from the start.
Their chemistry was off the charts. The banter was fun, the tension kept building, and all of the stolen moments made the slow burn so worth it. I also loved that they built a friendship before anything romantic happened. Watching their relationship grow felt natural, and it made me root for them even more.
I also loved that this story takes place in the same universe as the Wildhaven Ranch series and follows the Storm sisters' cousins. It was great getting updates on all of the Storm sisters and their families while also being introduced to a new side of the family. I'm excited to see where the rest of the Wildhaven Cowboys series goes.
I'd definitely recommend picking this one up if you're a fan of small-town romances, cowboys, rodeos, grumpy/sunshine, and a satisfying slow burn.
Thank you to Amber Kelly and Wordsmith Publicity for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The way I am already FERAL for this series is insane. I absolutely love Amber's writing and the woman can write her a cowboy like no other. If cowboys, bull riders, family drama, Wyoming, age gap and forced proximity are your thing then do yourself a favor and start this series immediately.
Broken Trust is book 1 in the Wildhaven Cowboys series. This is an extension of her Wildhaven Ranch series. Axle is a slightly grumpy PBR bull rider. Jovie is a physical therapist, and the ex girlfriend of Axle's younger brother Cabe. When Axle comes home to work at the Rodeo Academy, so does little Jojo, to work there as an assistant to the doctor.
I devoured this book like I had no other responsibilities. I simply could not put it down. Between the late night porch talks, the murder documentaries and queso binging on the couch, the rest of the family antics and the way Grandma Storm seems to just know everything. I was hooked from the first page to the very last line.
The brothers ex trope can definitely bring some drama, and it did. However, the connection that Axle and Jovie had was undeniable. Cabe and Jovie were a young love and best friend, but Axle is her forever. There is no way around that. I loved how Mama Trust rallied for and comforted Jovie when she needed it the most.
This was the perfect intro into the new series and I am dying to get a hold of book 2.
We're back at Wildhaven Ranch, but this time it's the Trust brothers' turn to find their perfect match.
Now it's Axle's story, and let me tell you, this broody bull rider never saw it coming that he would fall head over heels for his little brother's ex.
Before you start clutching your pearls, though, hear me out. Axle never had feelings for Jovie when she was with his brother. It wasn't until years later, when they crossed paths again and she was long out of that relationship, that everything changed. So let's not judge my boy Axle too quickly.
He and Jovie were truly a match made in Wildhaven. See what I did there? The chemistry between them was electric, and the tension was as scorching as a summer day in the desert.
The spice was absolutely delicious, but what I loved most was how naturally their romance unfolded. Nothing felt rushed. Their relationship grew at the perfect pace, allowing their feelings to deepen until they both realized that being together was worth every risk.
If you love forbidden romance, a sexy, grumpy bull rider, a smart and sassy physical therapist, found family, and all the charm of ranch life, then Broken Trust deserves a spot at the top of your TBR.
Thank you so much to Amber and WordSmith Publicity for this great eARC
Broken Trust is the first book in the Wildhaven Cowboys series, but certainly not my first book by Amber Kelly. I’m a big fan of her Wildhaven Ranch series, so it was great to stay connected to that world and see some familiar faces appear throughout this new series.
From the very beginning, I was drawn into Jovie and Axle’s story initially because of the tropes (forbidden romance, ex’s older brother… but the ex is still her best friend, cowboy, slight age gap, workplace romance… just to name a few!), but I absolutely stayed for the story.
Axle and Jovie both know that crossing the line/verandah could create problems for the entire family, but the more time they spend together and the more they learn about each other, the harder it becomes to ignore their growing attraction and emotional connection. That internal conflict adds plenty of angst and makes watching their relationship unfold all the more enjoyable.
I really enjoyed seeing their relationship develop, the emotional turmoil they both experience, and the way their family and friends play into the story.
This book has me very excited for September and the release of Lost Trust. I can’t wait to see what Amber Kelly has in store for the next Wildhaven Cowboy!
Thanks to Amber Kelly and Wordsmith Publicity for sending me this ARC. This review is my own personal opinion x
When a friend tells him that Jovie Asbury is going to be working on the same ranch that he'll be on over the summer, his interest is piqued, as she was the girl that his younger brother fell hard for years ago. Axle hasn't seen her in years, but he's about to, and nothing could have prepared him for the young woman that comes wandering into the arena... she's definitely not the shy and sweet little girl who swooned over his brother all those years ago!
Broken Trust is a beautifully written slow burn romance that is destined to torture in all the best of ways. These two had forever written all over the moment they wandered onto the page, but there were a few obstacles in their way that lead me to wonder if they'd find their way. When it comes to brothers and women, you never date a brother's ex... no matter how tempting she may be. Axle knew that, tried to honor it, but there was just something Jovie that he couldn't ignore... which made things mighty complicated for them. It got a little intense at times...and I loved every minute of it!
I really enjoyed this one, it made for a very enjoyable afternoon escape and left my heart feeling all sorts of happy!! Highly recommend!!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Broken Trust was such an addictive start to the Wildhaven Cowboys series.
Axle is everything I want in a cowboy romance hero—confident, reckless, loyal, and far more emotionally complicated than he first appears. Jovie is smart, driven, and grounded, and I loved that she had her own goals and ambitions outside of the romance. Their chemistry is immediate, but the real strength of the story is the emotional tension beneath it. There is so much history, loyalty, and risk wrapped up in their connection, which makes every stolen moment feel even more intense.
The Wildhaven setting was another highlight for me. The ranch, the rodeo academy, the medical clinic, and the big family gatherings all made the story feel warm and lived-in. I especially enjoyed the family dynamics. They are loving, chaotic, protective, and always involved in each other’s lives, which adds both heart and pressure to the romance.
This book has plenty of heat, but it also explores trust, expectations, ambition, and the fear of disappointing the people you love. Axle and Jovie’s relationship felt emotional as well as physical, and I stayed invested in them from beginning to end.
A great read for anyone who loves bull rider heroes, forbidden chemistry, strong heroines, close-knit families, and small-town cowboy romance. I am already looking forward to more from Wildhaven.
There's just something about a cowboy romance that always pulls me in, and "Broken Trust" did exactly that.
I loved how this wasn't an insta love story. Axel and Jovie's relationship took its time, and watching them become friends before anything else made every moment between them feel so much more special. The slow burn was absolutely worth it.
Jovie was such an easy character to love. She's strong, hardworking, and knows what she wants, while Axel has that protective, rugged cowboy charm that's impossible not to fall for. Their banter, chemistry, and all the stolen moments had me smiling the entire time.
The Wyoming ranch setting, bull riding, and big family vibes made the story feel so cozy, and the 'little brother's ex' trope added just the right amount of tension without taking away from the sweetness of their romance.
Amber Kelly's writing is so effortless to read that I finished this book much faster than I expected. If you're looking for a heartwarming cowboy romance with a slow burn, lovable characters, family feels, and plenty of chemistry, I'd definitely recommend picking this one up.
I'm already excited to see which Wild Haven cousin gets their story next!
Consider me hook, line and sinker over this new series! This hit all my sweet spots: cowboys…(I mean, say less!), fun flirty banter, and a host of endearing characters. And revisiting Wildhaven? Pure heaven! This story hit me right in the feels and was pure comfort for me. I was positively addicted to Axle and Jovie's love story, and having just turned the last page, I'm already hungry for more from this new series. This was a pure joy to read!
Axle and Jovie were under my skin immediately. The flirty banter, the sparky chemistry, the smart and engaging way they were written, filled me with those delightful butterflies I always crave. I adored everything about them, and the sparky chemistry that crackled and heated while they found their way towards each other. It was such a fun, flirty, swoony, sexy read, and I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
All this is to say, this was another Amber Kelly hit, and a fantastic kick-off to the Wildhaven Cowboys series. An easy, addicting read that left me completely satisfied and yet hungry for more at the same time. I am beyond excited to get my hands on more where this came from!
Wow, what a start to a new series by the talented Ms. Kelly. Broken Trust is filled with angst, flirtatious touches and talk, and the forbidden romance with your brother's love interest since forever. I loved being back on the Wildhaven Ranch with everyone but now we get Axel's story.
Axel is the sexy bull rider who is a grumpy, talented and filled with confidence that it rolls off him. He loves what he does but now that he is back home for a break, his love is focused somewhere else, or should I say, towards someone. Jovie is his brother's ex-girlfriend who wants to be a Dr on the rodeo circuit, but first she is working on the Wildhaven Ranch for the summer. Jovie is filled with sassiness, determination, and smarts. She is a walking temptation and he knows he has to stay away but life has other ideas for both of them.
What I loved was how everyone could see something stirring but Axel fought it like he was riding a bull, hard and fast. Their relationship took its time to surface; however, the late-night talks and closeness may have pushed it a little faster. The two of them really were made for one another.
Broken Trust is the 1st book in AK’s new series Wildhaven Cowboys and what a way to start the series! So good.
We are back in Wyoming and I couldn’t be happier to dive in. I mean who doesn’t love Rodeo cowboys, bull riders who are tough as nails and a good little brothers ex storyline to get things going.
Jovie (physical therapist to be) is doing her internship at Raintree-Storm Rodeo Academy and Axel Trust, (pro bull rider) have been in each other’s lives for a long time. Jovie and his brother Cabe have been best friends since the age of 8. Little Jovie is all grown up and caught his eye.
Ya’ll, this book has a touch of everything. I mean sign me up. Definitely a slow burn but the tension is bubbling at the surface until, bam! It’s on.
The way they took care of each other. Late night talks, building a foundation, trust and a beautiful friendship. Let’s not talk about how he washed her hair, or calls her “mine”,
Of course, there are a few plot twist and hurdles they have to overcome. I love how they did it together. It was great seeing a small cross over from the previous series. I loved the big family aspect of the storyline. It was so well written. Great read!
Review of advance copy received from Wordsmith Publicity Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A huge thank you to Wordsmith Publicity for allowing me the opportunity to read an ARC of Broken Trust.

Ok I love me a good cowboy romance but this is next level. Fun, cute, super sweet, and hits you all in the feels! No part of me wanted to put it down, so I didn’t and just kept on reading until the words ran out.
When a grumpy, protective, professional bull rider and a super sassy, fiercely strong sports medicine intern are bought together you know you’re in for a ride! Not forgetting that shes his little brothers ex….nooo we won’t let that get in the way.
Sizzling tension, off the charts chemistry and super witty banter keep this story flowing beautifully. The perfect slow burn, friends to loves has a grip on your heart and if you don’t find yourself rooting for them, you need to have a chat with yourself and quickly 🩷. I’m fully invested in the Wildhaven Ranch series and can’t wait to read more of these cowboys! 🤠
What a start to a brand-new series! I’m already so intrigued by all of these new characters and can’t wait to see what’s to come.
Axle and Jovie have known each other since childhood, but years later, they find themselves spending more time together, and their chemistry is undeniable.
Axle is a bull rider, while Jovie is a physical therapist interning at Raintree Storm Academy, so it was such a treat to return to Wildhaven and catch up with some familiar faces.
These two were so lovable, not just as a couple, but individually too. They were easy to root for from the very beginning.
Things aren’t exactly straightforward. Jovie previously dated Axle’s brother, and the two have remained best friends ever since…
I wasn’t quite sure how I was going to feel about that dynamic at first, but I should have known to trust Amber. She handled everything beautifully, and by the end I was completely on board.
I can’t wait to see what the Wildhaven Cowboys get up to throughout this series!
Thank you to the author and team for allowing me the opportunity to read this ARC. As always, I’m so grateful.💕
First, you need to read the Wildhaven Ranch series and meet the Storm women and the men they “tame”. That’s where you’ll first meet their cousin Axel and his brothers.
Axel and Jovie are the main characters in this charming, seductive, cowboy romance and to say their relationship is complicated is an understatement. She’s been best friends and childhood sweethearts with Axel’s younger brother, Cabe, for years. But they aren’t “in love” even though Cabe may want more. Complicated. Because Jovie falls for Axel during the summer at Wildhaven Ranch. And he falls hard for her.
Axel working with the youngsters who want to ride bulls, rope, basically be professional cowboys is heart warming. His close family, especially his relationship with his brothers, is special for sure. Him trying to stay away from Jovie because he loves his brother is heartbreaking.
But grumpy Axel and sunshiny Jovie just work. I loved them. Loved the Storm family reappearing and learning more about the riding academy that started coming together in the previous series. It’s all absolute lush entertainment. Cowboy entertainment at its best.
Broken Trust is professional bull rider Axel and sports medicine intern, Jovie’s forbidden, small town romance. It’s book one in the new Wildhaven Cowboys Series and the chemistry was off the charts and the banter had me smiling and giggling. I loved everything about this slow but, forbidden romance and it didn’t take me long to become invested in the characters and their story. Axel is a typical, broody, grumpy bull rider but he is also devoted to his family so the off season is always spent at Wildhaven. Jovi is also spending some time as an intern at the ranch but she is off limits because she was once his younger brother’s girlfriend who has been part of his family for as long as he can remember. So what happens when they find themselves living next door to each other with their cabins sharing a patio………. From the moment I picked this well written book up I was captivated and there was no putting down until the final reword was read. It’s a great start to the new series and I’m excited for what’s to come from Wildhaven.
1000% 5 stars for the vibes of this book. I binge read this book while traveling to the beach. I had been looking forward to this for weeks and am so thankful for the opportunity to arc Read this.
The brothers ex trope could of gone terribly wrong. However, Amber did a beautiful job of the slow burn or Axel and Jovi. She really took time to give them a foundation of friendship and companionship, which made you root for these characters. I really loved them just wanting to be near each other and spend time together. Honestly, this book didn’t even need the spice with how well written the build up was - the pinkies almost touching, then sitting next to each other on movie nights. THE DUAL YEARNING. Don’t get me wrong though - I enjoyed the spice. It was tasteful and felt earned. There wasn’t smut for smut.
I also loved that Jovi has her own personality and he own goals and it didn’t revolve around the men in her life. I absolutely love the way Amber writes her FMCs and found family. I cannot wait to read the read of the series.
Amber Kelly has done it again. I loved every minute of this story. Getting to know the Trust brothers gives you dreamy eyes. I can’t wait for more. I love that I get to continue to hear about the Storm girls and Wildhaven Storm Ranch.
Axle is a bull rider that comes home for summer break to help his cousin and future cousin in law with his new academy on Wildhaven Storm. Axle is an instructor on bull riding. Where he’s sees all grown up Jovie Asbury. The new intern for Sports Medicine, whom also happens to be his baby brother’s best friend. Due to a flooding in his cabin, they move him to the other side where Jovie is. And late night insomnia leaves these two sitting on the deck watching the stars. Chatting it up or not. Just being.
Everyone thought Jovie and Cabe would end up together at some point. But after years of living in different cities, they have just become best friends. She’s leaving after the summer to follow the PBR as a sports meds doctor. Falling in love with her best friend’s brother wasn’t apart of the plan.
