Roy was born in South Africa and now lives in Australia's Blue Mountains. He's had a lifelong passion for ancient Egypt and for writing suspense fiction. His very first story was published in the Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine, New York.
Whilst balancing his career as an award-winning Creative Director of international and local advertising agencies, Roy wrote a series of thirteen novels for young adult readers, published in Australia, UK, and USA, winning a Book of the Year Award.
From the cover ‘Matt and his family are holidaying on the Murray River when he visits an old paddle wheeler. He embarks on a mysterious journey through time, and with his friends, is taught some important lessons in life.’
This was a rather strange story. It had a lot of emphasis on the important lessons I mentioned above, and a very unusual plot. Although some aspects of the plot played out as I expected, other aspects were ambiguous and left me a little puzzled.
